Always cool when they hold the official event in your home town, San Diego seems to be a hub of official manufacturers press events, from cars to off-roaders.
The 4Runner hasn't had a new generation in what, like 15 years? Not sure what you were expecting... Not to mention it comes standard with a lot more things than before
It’s not Toyota it’s decades of reckless government spending that devalues the dollar. More money was printed from 2020-2024 than the previous 50 years combined.
The base model didn’t go up that much. While prices probably won’t go down hopefully they creep up at only a couple hundred dollars a year. Personally I like the SR5 model the best. I can’t wait to get a cheap used 4x2 model in a couple years.
Thanks Chloe, I was eagerly awaiting your review as I am planning on purchasing either 4Runner or FJ Cruiser later this year. Would like to hear your thoughts on that rig as well. Keep up the great work! Always enjoy your videos.
I love your take on it but the 5th gen is the most imperfect perfect vehicle slash 4runner. It's so obsolete but who cares that's the one you wanna take to the dance and still wake up to 40 years later. MY 2014 SR5 4WD it still perfect. I'd rather buy a newer 5th gen. Hope prices come down more!
1 bajillion percent true! Will keep mine until I cannot get the parts I may someday need for repair, or they stop selling gas. Pretty sure the latter will happen first lol
Would really like to see an onroad and offroad comparison between the gen 5 and gen 6 offroad. Curious about nose diving during braking, brake feedback, and body roll around turns. Power difference seems obvious.
I’ve saved up for years waiting for a hybrid 4runner. I’ve got about 30k cash to drop on one, plus a paid off WRX. This vehicle was SO underwhelming and kinda..lame. Decided there’s no way I’m gonna waste my money on it. They needed to give me at least 25mpg city with the hybrjd; instead they didn’t bother improving the fuel economy at all. I’d buy a telluride or a new honda passport over this ANY day.
adjusted for inflation it's actually cheaper then it has been the 1999 4Runner Limited had an MSRP of $38,000. In today’s money that’s $72,000. The 2025 4Runner Limited is $55,000.
@ false. The 1999 4Runner had a base model MSRP of $21,118 and the highest and Limited model 4WD of $35,808. This equates to $39,865 for the base model and $67,595 for the Limited 4WD model.
And the cheapest one today is you get less room while the oldest most expensive one you get more features and more confidence in that reliable engine. There is no way that turbo is gonna be just as reliable.
I wish the sr5 had a softex option. It’s fake leather! It shouldn’t be a “luxury” option. Alternatively, I wish the higher trims didn’t have the body cladding.
I’ve got a 2nd vehicle purchase coming up in the next year. I don’t know if I can stomach the price of a Tacoma or 4 runner. Time will tell. I don’t trust their reliability right now and their moderately equipped models are priced insane! I keep vehicles for lengthy periods. I’m currently into a 175k mile 2nd gen Tacoma I bought new back in 13’ and it’s tastefully modded out w/ no rust. I don’t have faith the next gens would last that long without major shit needing replaced.
The 4 cylinder turbo may be good enough to power this and the Tacoma but I would not want to own one outside tehe new vehicle warranty . Imagine the cost of repair outside warranty of the Hybred modle...UGGGG
Love the new look. Hate the engine choice. Should at least have the options for a natural aspiration v6 , the 1GR-FE was bulletproof. We should have the choice as paying customers to get the engines we want.
Just cannot get on board with the look of the new one - not to mention the ILL engine. Stoked I scored a 2024 TRD Pro. So yeah - I'm just a bit biased. Maybe the new one will grow on me - but i doubt it.
GX 550 OT combined with that $1000 military/college rebate is the way to go. Sorry Toyota , I still love you but can’t spend Lexus money on a Toyota !!!
It’s incredibly overpriced because they know customers need to come back for that turbo maintenance. I mean, there is no other reason for it. 🤷♂️ let the fools spend their hard earned time on a turbo four-cylinder. I mean turbo’s already worked great for Volkswagen. oh wait, WHERE ARE THE TURBOS NOW?!!! NO ALOT TO BE FOUND!!! Toyota is rubbing your hands together to get more cash out of these fools and their money. People have no clue how much has changed at Toyota recently.
Can I get a golf cart motor in it ? So glad electric and hybrid federal tax breaks are quickly disappearing. Give us our v6 and v8s back Toyota, your current engine options suck.
Those new engines are a mess! They look horribly engineered with all the random hoses and wires. They look like something some mad scientist built in a shed in a hurry. What heppended to Toyota?
Does 'engine aesthetics' matter all that much when for 99% of folks, the only person that'll be opening their hood is the service tech at the dealership?
@@chibbyylol This is not just about aesthetics, it is about engineering. (Good engineering however results in better aesthetics.) And, I would expect better engineering from a $65K off-road vehicle. But, you are right, there are some people (but I doubt 99%) that just drive their off-road vehicles to the grocery store and mall. For those of us that do use this these off road, in remote areas, in rough terrain, and don't have access to service techs at the dealership, this can be a nightmare. A well-organized engine bay allows for easier access to components. This is crucial for routine maintenance like checking fluids or replacing filters, but becomes even more critical when diagnosing problems or making repairs in the field, far from a service center. (I am sure the Chloe get's this as well, since I know she like to do her own maintenance.) There is also the fact that exposed wires and hoses are more vulnerable to damage from debris, rocks, and branches encountered during off-roading. A well-designed engine bay offers better protection for vital components. Besides, loosely routed wires and hoses are more susceptible to chafing, wear, and tear from vibrations and constant jostling from driving in rough terrain. Properly secured components are less likely to fail due to these stresses.
@ thing is if this had an engine cover, nobody would say anything at all about how complicated it looks. There are various naturally aspirated engines that without a cover are quite crowded as well
Gonna hold off till the 2 cylinder turbo comes out let's gooooo!
I see what you did there 😂
prob be just EV by then
😂😂😂
I heard they were skipping the 2 cylinder and just cutting a hole in floor and letting you Flintstone it. Starting price 85k.
Those price jumps are insane.
I'm glad you have long hair, because it really illustrated that jump you did, from the vehicle's interior point-of-view.....while going zero gravity.
Awesome review! You totally did your homework and answered all of my questions. Thank you!
Kool review Chloe 😊 great content and good information ℹ️
Great, beyond the spec sheet video, thanks, Chloe
19:00 love the zero G moment Nice reviews
Id rather get a year or two old Tundra TRD Pro at these prices. Absolutely wild
I have a 2020 5th gen 4rumner, sr5. Works great for me when i need to go to the beach or drive in the snow. I dont need the bells and whisles.
I love mine because of the lesser tech.
Always cool when they hold the official event in your home town, San Diego seems to be a hub of official manufacturers press events, from cars to off-roaders.
Toyota is going wild with these prices and that's at USD, Canada is even worse
The 4Runner hasn't had a new generation in what, like 15 years? Not sure what you were expecting... Not to mention it comes standard with a lot more things than before
Have you heard of inflation?
Biden inflation 😂

Great Video !!!!! Your Face Before the Jump was so Awesome !!! You Rock !!!!
Thanks Chloe for the insight!

Do you think that lighter interior in the Sr5 will be hard to keep clean?
🔥🔥🔥The hype!!! Good video Chloe I love watching your channel keep up the good content 💪😎 this truck look awesome

If the 6th Gen’s have the same problems the Tundra and Tacoma have the 5th Gen’s prices will stay elevated
Always nice hitting a trail with you! Great review & insight on the new 4Runner!
Would really like to see an onroad and offroad comparison between the gen 5 and gen 6 offroad. Curious about nose diving during braking, brake feedback, and body roll around turns. Power difference seems obvious.
Excellent review 😅
chloe would u e ever get a LExus GX version of these
yes they are similarly priced
Trd pro in Canada is about 84k cad, equals 58.4 k usd. Such a budget, 12% taxes though.
I’ve saved up for years waiting for a hybrid 4runner. I’ve got about 30k cash to drop on one, plus a paid off WRX.

Not only that on the milage but think of the complication in a Tubo / hybred electric . not without a toyota warranty on it
Looked earlier and didn’t see the SR5 Premium anymore. I want the softex seating option since I don’t have to worry about wet surf trunks.
Still waiting for my Trail Hunter, looking forward to actually having some power getting away from that old constantly shifting transmission.
Thanks you'd be right
Nice video. Thanks.
Toyota needs to put the crack pipe down with these prices. GTFO.

Will be waiting a few years and probably get the Off Road Premium. Undecided on which engine.
The cheapest one today is the same price as the old most expensive one

Best advice you should give buyer, buy the second version and never the new release.
Do we know if a roof top tent can fit up there with cross bars?
If a rtt can fit on a rava 4 why wouldnt this be able to?
Great review. Just found your channel. Sub'd! Hopefully this kicks you over to 200k ;)
made in japan x, good looking x, msrp ?, 4cy turbo/hybrid ? reliability ?
engines been out since about 2021 without major issues.
put the compressor in the trd pro
I think I might wait a year to get one!
Sell, sell, sell em Toyota’s Chloe!👍🏻👏🏻
Cool video - but I will keep my 2024 4Runner Off Road Premium 4ever
The 4 cylinder turbo may be good enough to power this and the Tacoma but I would not want to own one outside tehe new vehicle warranty . Imagine the cost of repair outside warranty of the Hybred modle...UGGGG
Lets get that hybrid Trail Hunter into some water ASAP, it has a snorkel.....
gonna sit on lots like tacoma
Put the twin turbo 6 cylinder into the Tacoma and you will have a HIT !
For that price for a 4 runner people better off buying the 2023 lexus gx460 at least it’s a v8 and no issues
people need to stop buying toyota until their price change, its ridiculous
Would rather buy off-grid homestead for 40,000 and throw a TRD Supercharger on my 2000 Standard cab Manual 4x4 2.7L 217,000 Miles now 🎉💕😘
Love the new look. Hate the engine choice. Should at least have the options for a natural aspiration v6 , the 1GR-FE was bulletproof. We should have the choice as paying customers to get the engines we want.
Is it me or does it look like a big RAV4?
think you mean grand highlander
The engine sounds horrid. It can make all the power it wants, but the v6 sounds better and actually makes you enjoy the truck.
Come on Toyota 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Think I found my next car!
Just cannot get on board with the look of the new one - not to mention the ILL engine. Stoked I scored a 2024 TRD Pro. So yeah - I'm just a bit biased. Maybe the new one will grow on me - but i doubt it.
Have you seen one in the flesh?
@@carpentertrim I have not. Look better in person? Hope so.
Lol same vibe with my 2023 GX. The 2024/2025 engine etc.
Pls Don’t put a flex bumper conversion on this one
Too bad they aren’t building a manual version.
crazy wind , hopefully no fire--
I’m gonna laugh so hard if your sister gets a Subaru (Crosstrek, Forester, Outback) Hehehe, yes, join us 😈
We should get your sister into the Frontier Pro4x
The 3rd row is a must for me. It sucks having to take 2 cars to the lake when having a truck to tow the boat.
4-Banger Cheapo Garbage...Buyer BEWARE!!
Go back to your roots and focus on diy videos (you have an 80s series) and stop with these lame Toyota ads
GX 550 OT combined with that $1000 military/college rebate is the way to go. Sorry Toyota , I still love you but can’t spend Lexus money on a Toyota !!!
you realize if you get the lexus...it still goes to toyota lol
It’s the same company dude..
The old gen looks better
i have 2018 tcoma. love the safety sense stuff. this new stuff seems a waste.
Remember in 2021 you could get a trd pro Tacoma for like high 40s?? Now they are completely made in Mexico Toyota has lost me.
Thats a crazy expensive plus sized Prius.
all kinda loaded.
Its OK to wear a pair of jeans...
my favorite eye brows among the car fluencers
That’s not even a compliment lol anyways who’s on ur list
Same ❤
2nd
4th gen didnt hold its value but its definitely a great 4runner too
4th gen v8 4wd has entered the chat 😂
Welp.. that’s one pricey 4cyl..
Low miles dealer lowner $1000 off
this must suck cause woman tryign to sell this
Another new gen that’s gonna be plagued with issues and that’s incredibly overpriced. No thanks.

Cheapest!
Cheap build materials, sprinkled with gadgets that no one needs in order to justify stupid prices. Not very good looking either. No thanks.
40k for a basemodel ? lol
