Are you paying by the cylinder or something? I'm on your side with the crazy pricing, but this framing that some people are using is weird. If it were a 10 cylinder, is that supposed to be good or something?
@@marshallphillips7763 And everyone knows those are shit tier options compared to the 4runner despite all the things they've gotten wrong with this 6th gen. A casual toyota shopper isn't going to care about all the details that long time 4runner fans do know and that sells. Toyota would be a fool to not cash out on the toyota tax.
@@guentherwilke2055 I paid significantly less for my Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Recon with *every single possible option* including both hard and soft top (but minus leather seats because I didn't want them) than a 2025 4runner TRD Offroad Premium. The TRD Pro/Trailhunter is significantly more than I paid for my fully loaded rubicon XR and is way less capable off road and has a very similar featureset in terms of things like radio, heated seats/steering wheel, radar cruise, blind spot detection, etc etc.
I remember not too long ago you could buy a nicely loaded luxury car for $58K. This is a sport UTILITY vehicle with a four banger. How in the hell can automakers justify this cost? Not worth it, no way.
For $58k, what year and car was that? I have not had that kind of experience with luxury cars. My Lexus GS400 was $50k back in 1999, that is $95,000 inflation adjusted. Even my 2010 BMW 328iX with fake leather was $43k in 2010 with only a couple of options, that is $62,000 inflation adjusted. My Wife's 335iX from the same year was $55k without real leather that is $79k inflation adjusted. My 1994 BMW 325iS couple was $71k inflation adjusted, 1987 325iS was $75k inflation adjusted, and so on and so on. I've own 5 BMWs and none were under $60k inflation adjusted, none were top spec or loaded, and only the old ones had real leather.
You can tell the ones that are excited to pay this overpriced generation are basically mainly new Toyota owners. But hey, they sure know how to take advantage of the new customers lately.🙈
Go look up prices from 10, 20, 30 and 40 years ago. You'll be surprised to see it was expensive back then for the kinds of wages people where making. Median wages were $6/hour in 1985 when the 4runner had a Turbo 2.4
I paid $47k for my 2024 4runner Off Road Premium in Underground. Unbelievable that this is now over $10k more with a bunch of cheap plastic I interior...
We looked at the new Land Cruisers. Was going to my retirement gift to myself. I do not think that I could have been more disappointed in a new Toyota. Until now. Toyota has really gone cheap plastic on these new vehicles. Seems to have taken ideas from Stalantis. Disappointing......
@@GeoBob-xf3hh no, it is cheap plastic. And no this is not what people want. You think if people were given the choice of a cheap, nasty hard plastic interior over one with higher quality materials for the same money they would ask for the cheap stuff?
For $58,000 they could’ve done a much nicer interior. The hard plastics at that price point is really unacceptable in my opinion where competition at that price point has leather wrapped dash and leather on the door panels.
Hard plastics is what makes 20+ year old Toyota/Lexus interiors remain like new. People who keep their cars a long time like that. People who trade often don't.
@dr… I am not so sure about that hard plastic looks new thing. My work trim F150 is 7 years old and looks awful. You certainly wouldn’t think it’s new. Now, I didn’t care or maintained it though. On the other hand if someone maintains a leather with regular oiling and polishing then it will look great even 20 years later. I think it depends on the user and not the material itself.
Also 20 yo Lexus interiors are NOT hard plastic. My wife had one 20 years ago and it was a sea of real high end leather and real wood. No plastic anywhere. Now, her 2024 Lexus is hard plastic, fake wood and fake leather.
@@is6566 My 25 year old GS400 has plastic on the doors, console and dash, along with real leather, textile and real wood for the rest of the interior. Holding up great after all these years, except arm rest. Better overall than the new 4Runner though, but my GS400 was $50k back then, which is over $90,000 now inflation adjusted.
I consider a panoramic sunroof a disqualifying option. We had a panoramic sunroof and used to live in the South where it did bake us, but in Colorado that isn't a problem. Panoramic sunroofs suck because they don't have a sliding cover like traditional sunroofs, they only have a lame shade. The large glass roof allows a lot of road noise to enter the cabin and the fabric shade doesn't stop it at all. Plus your ears are just inches away so the interior is always noisy and unpleasant compared to a traditional sunroof or hardtop. The stereo doesn't sound as good and has to be turned up to override the road noise. Panoramic sunroofs can leak and break, but it is the noise that makes them awful.
This ^^ ...Especially if you don't have rear passengers, Roman, why do you give a hoot about no glass roof behind you in front. If you're a driver or front passenger you hardly notice what is (not) behind your head.
I had an 86 myself. It did NOT have the turbo version of the 22RE. Man that thing was slow with 33s on it but it is STILL the best looking 4Runner ever.
@JDC129 I installed an intercooler, and an adjustment valve to control the turbo pressure from 4psi to later I realized my gauge was busted...20psi. wooh was it fast.
@ That's awesome! The Achilles heel of that engine was the timing chain would stretch to the point it would start clapping against the water pump cover. Eventually it would eat a hole in it causing coolant and oil to mix. Overheated and warped the heads so had to rebuild.
These prices remove the fun of ownership. The increasing cost of ownership, all in, has become a real burden for the average Joe. Using these purchases as a write-off and income stream however makes a lot of sense. Kudos to you guys.
@@Anomize23you kidding me? I can agree this price is ridiculous. But Toyota owners regularly have tens of thousands of dollars of off road and overland equipment on their vehicles. Maybe not some of the Toyota line up but people buying this vehicle often DO have money.

Knowing that the 2.4 gets about the same real world mpgs that the 4.0 got 7) higher prices that can't all be blamed on inflation, considering majority of Tacoma production is in Mexico paying $3.00 hr wages to produce the Tacoma but on average across all trims is up $10,000 USD 8) over use of hard thin plastics for interior, reminiscent of 1990's Hyundai interiors base models This comment I left is for the Toyota marketing/ engineer Department that are monitoring/ reading these comments Don't be surprised, when these 6 Gen's don't sell and start piling up on lots

Or do like most and make videos without showing your face.
@ it shows them yes but less than the other colors, the 200 looks like you took a Brillo pad to it from the right angle but from any other angle it doesn’t show and with dark colors like black you can see swirls just from washing it wrong 😂
I have a 2001 4Runner in Silver. It’s fading on the hood a little bit, but aside from that, it is a pretty good color. I’m trying the Refrigerator white on my new one.
I have 0 interest in this because of the price and engine. But interested to see your coverage. I hope Nissan comes with a new Xterra to undercut all these insane tech bro off roaders.
Nissan is dead! The brand is about to get absorbed into another manufacturer. They used to make some great vehicles, but today, they're Japan's Stellantis.
Paid 34,000 for an 3 year old off road Tacoma with 25k on it. It’s been the most reliable and badass truck I could have imagined. My wife paid 25 k for a 4 year old fj with 50 k on it. That’s even beating mine in the cost vs longevity numbers as we speak. “The prices are out of control these days”. I guess that means we are all old now!
If Nissan execs are smart enough, they would introduce a V6 XTerra based on the current Frontier… it would sell like hotcakes now that the 4Runner is powered by a turbo 4-cylinder and is not yet proven.
@@billwampler9608It's that or go bankrupt. Nissan might be a relatively affordable brand in North America, but in the rest of world Chinese brands are eating the mid-level Japanes and European brands' lunch. They will be here in the next ten years and Nissan might be dead.
If Nissan execs were smart they never would have got involved with Renault. Their product became cheap French garbage. Ask anyone with a 2006-2010 Frontier, Xterra, or Pathfinder.
You've just decided every single new vehicle on the market. At some point you'll just have to get over it and accept it sadly, that's just the way the auto industry is going + inflation and the stupid tariffs will just make it so much worse
100% not true. The 1999 4Runner limited was $38,000 MSRP. That is $72,000 in today’s money. The 2025 4Runner Runner Limited is $55,000. Today’s 4 Runner is actually cheaper.
I love how we are all just accepting $60K as a normal vehicle price now. It is why I've decided I'm done with new vehicles. I love the technology, but you can get a perfectly capable vehicle for a third of the price if you just get something 10-15 years old.
I think its normal to accept it as its relative to income. 15 years ago My BMW 328iX was $42k back in 2010, inflation adjusted that inflation adjusted that is $62,000. I was making around $15 an hour as an entry level tech, inflations adjusted I would need $22/hr to afford the same the amount vehicles purchase as back then. $22-23/hr is what I see some entry level techs make now out of high school, we are in about he same place when it comes to vehicle purchasing power on average.
I was a former Toyota expert certified mechanic looking into this, the LC and Tacoma. Mark ups and issues caused me to then decided to get a Ranger raptor at msrp. No issues so far and no regrets. Toyota quality doesn’t exist anymore
Awkward question, but what's up with Nathan? He still works with TFL, does he not? Riverside is not far away from the LA region, which is where I thought he was.
He no longer works for TFL. His "move" was a way for him to just slide out. Friends with him on facebook and he has another gig now. (Works for autoblog)
@66… You are right. Found him on the other publication’s website as a contributing author for yesterday’s article. I thought there was something out of quilter the way his “move” was communicated in TFL videos. There was a definitive awkwardness about the topic. Stepping gingerly around it.
58k? Yikes! That is 4k more than what my ZR2 was. I feel like this particular model would be better suited at 48k. It looks nice. I wouldn't having one. I just wouldn't want to pay 58k for it even if it lives up to the Toyota reliability reputation.
I think they got a deal on that defender but with the way they do the channel and such, they have to grab what’s hot at the moment, and use that for a long (ish) term review, then sell and on to another. I think that defender, which was their second defender, was just a placeholder.
@TFLcar then why did I just watch a podcast with Tommy pouting they sold the 2 dr Discovery and you lost around $12,000 dollars on it...? Are you lying in that video or are you lying here in the comments? Because I just watched it myself
I've always wanted a 4Runner, even back in the '90's when I was in college but they have ALWAYS been expensive vehicles and out of my price range. I remember shopping for cars back in 2004 and I looked at a 4Runner but it was too much. I can't remember exactly what the sticker said so I googled the base price of a 2004 4Runner it said $27,270. Sounds reasonable right; no, that's $45,284 in today's money for a base 2WD model; more expensive than the current one's base price which has more features and equipment than a fully loaded 2004. However, at that time I didn't cry about it being overpriced I just accepted that I couldn't afford it and moved on. Today I can easily afford one and might consider buying it, I just had to wait until it was my time.
Overpriced- no thanks, just bought a sweet ‘08 4th gen with a full sized engine, no turbo , also 21 mpg, low miles for 13.5k Also why would Tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China have anything to do with a made in Japan import? So it could be Trump’s fault it is overpriced or dealers greedy markups? Right….
@ Well I’ll cue you in on my thoughts, just because you can buy something does not mean you should. The current offerings from Toyota are overpriced and not of the same build quality as in previous years and generations, hence the swinging deal on a 4th gen which is built like a tank.
@@tacosan9256just talking out your ass, the new Toyota interiors are much nicer than older boring interiors. A 4th Gen didn't even have a TRD model, but the limited 4x4 was over 40k, in today's Money that's in the 60s.
@@tacosan9256 when you say overpriced, are you accounting for inflation? For example, I bought a new 2011 Camry LE for $20,000. 14 years later a new 2025 LE is 30k. Everything is overpriced these days including crap fast food.
@@sammyjammy6647 I feel overpriced for what you get, great technology but engineered obsolescence versus an older model that is more tried and true Also fast food will kill you. I could go and buy a 58k 4Runner but there are so much better used options from the good Toyota eras
I purchased a 2024 TRD PRO 4runner in Terra in October 2024 with door edge guards, predator steps, PPF on the front end, black overalys, and a couple other things and the MSRP was less than this TRD ORP......crazy.
Basically same here, got mine in August fresh off the truck for around 55k. The price tag is a common complaint about their entire off road line up, but in Toyota’s defense, I feel like the entire industry’s pricing has gone crazy.
@@Mycameron2323 well that’s not entirely true but in spirit, you’re correct. My GF has a 24 TRD OR and when parked side by side, it’s hard to justify the usual price differences on the lot, considering functionally, tires, suspension, and exhaust are the only real differences. A particular gripe of mine was for some very basic quality of life upgrades like auto lamps or auto climate control you had to upgrade to the Pro or Limited. Considering a label like Off Road Premium, those sort of things should probably be included in model built in 2024 and it seems from TFL’s new one, a similar practice is still being done on the 25s.
I have two pre owned Toyota products in my garage. Total out the door price was half of what they spent for this vehicle. No overpriced four banger turbo trash for me.
It’s not like Toyota made their first turbo engine. They’ve been doing this since the 1980s. You don’t think by now they have it figured out. I would trust a turbo from Toyota before I trusted a turbo from any other manufacturer, especially GM or Ford. Time will tell but your thoughts on calling it trash are really premature and immature.
@@sammyjammy6647 The transition to turbos is not a good thing for those of us who buy pre owned. I have purchased three used Toyota normally aspirated V6’s out of warranty and have had no issues with them. However, buying a pre owned turbo of any brand is out of the question. If the oil is not changed more often than recommended and the previous owner did not allow the turbo to cool down after hard use, there will be an expensive repair bill waiting for the next owner. Call me old fashioned but I am willing to give up some power in exchange for better long term durability.
If you wanted to be first you should have asked Nathan who lives within like 30 min of this dealership to go take delivery and make a video himself... but nope!! Roman said screw him, we will fly all the way out there and just drive it back ourselves.. What the hell was the point of sending him out here?
Fun to see you guys so excited about a new vehicle. Glad you captured that energy right after you picked it up. Looking forward to future videos and comparisons. Cheers!
Yeah, and your 2016 engine made a measly 180 foot pounds of torque. This spec engine in this vehicle makes 317 foot pounds of torque. It makes 137 foot pounds MORE torque than your V6! No comparison.
I noticed that too. Of course they are libtards they live in Boulder CO. Not smart to make political comments when you run a business. You piss off half your customers/audience
Interested in the long term reliability of these turbo engines. We own a 2004 V8 w/200k miles. The build quality is impressive. No rattles, no major issues, just wear and tear and regular maintenance.
The 5th gen is great but it has always had design issues. Mostly the 5 speed trans sucks in wind or mountains. The thing is bullet proof though. My 2017 has 135k miles and has had zero problems. Regular maintenance only. It will probable go 300k before it has any issue. This 4runner will likely do better at those weak spots. Probably will not be care free and probably will not last the same. Would have loved an updated trans and not much more change.
Merry Christmas TFL, new car delivery day! I didn’t expect a TFL 4Runner but I’m glad you did! Hope the experience is better than blueberry! Happy trails! 🤙🏼😎
I hate when Toyota has blanks for where buttons would go. Other car companies are making it to if you don't have that feature in the car there is no blank button.
@@is6566speaking of poverty trim, you all haven’t seen how awful the lower trim 4runner interior is like. I love Toyota but man they have sure changed for the worst lately. They are not what they used to be anymore.
i was trying to look for an sr5 BASE, all the dealers around me have added like 8-10K$ worth of add on/dealer markups. hopefully i will be able to get an sr5 later in the year with no crazy markups. the sr5 is the perfect vehicle for me, i don't really go off roading, it has all the things i need and the non-hybrid engine. i can afford a 40-45K vehicle, i can't afford a 50K+ vehicle...
My 2020 SR5 Premium after paying off the loan was $42,500. Most people only need the SR5. If you want the luxury package, the Limited is the way to go now. They no longer have a SR5 "Premium" with Softex heated seats and heated steering. That made a huge difference to me. My 2020 doesn't have 16k miles on it yet, so I don't think I'll be spending $50k on one of these. At least not for the next 20 years LOL
Nearly a $60k vehicle and they couldn't even paint the door handles or side mirrors. This is not an aesthetic, "rugged-look", choice. Optional color-keyed side mirrors and door handles was a thing back in the early 90's. Why is Toyota thinking that this is still a thing that is used to differentiate trim levels?
I paid $52 for my Land Cruiser 1958. I’ve like the hybrid, I’ve been getting the EPA mileage, the 2400w power is great and the headroom in the back seat is better (along with 3 zone climate control). I’m glad I didn’t wait for the 4Runner.
I think the 1958 would be my choice over this. Seems like a better value and full time 4wd is great if you live in an area with real winter. I think the styling is better and it appears to have a taller windscreen and better use of interior space… I don’t see how this 4Runner is the same price or more without the center diff and turbo max. Head scratcher.
@@ArtieMcYardieYes. It is easy. Go to a dealership. Pick out a vehicle that you want. Make a *real* offer to buy it that day. Sign your paperwork & leave.
That price is just a joke. Last year's TRD OR Premium listed for $48k. It's a good looking skin (the land Cruiser is just ugly to me) and I'm sure it will be a good off roader. But dang. Glad I got my 27k mile 2020 used last year...
I like how you're excited about the back window going down, but to put it into perspective, as a kid we had a 1975 Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon with the back window that came down. Plus the tail gate would drop down or swing out. Just thought I would give it a different perspective. Keep up the good work, I watch every video you guys put out.
As someone who bought a new '23 4Runner SR5, I couldn't imagine paying almost $60k for a 4-banger....anything. The only new 4Runner I'd consider is the TRD Sport, which stays safely under $50k, but adds the options you wish the SR5 base model had.
@@Holden-McGroin Ignoring the overcomplication of the motor, the high temperature and pressure it will be under decreasing long term reliability is stupid unless you are one of the posers getting these and flipping them every 3 years.

Toyota puts the trailer wire connector in the worst place. Additionally, the chin spoiler is garbage. I like Toyota, but c'mon Toyota. Almost 60 grand....
That trailer connector will be deleted on the first hard trail. It deleted itself on my Wrangler. Jeep puts it on an even worse place at least on the Sport.
Riverside CA is right around the corner of me! Congratulations on the purchase! Ahhh it would of been nice to meet ya in person and talk about this new Toyota 4Runner, all in all it’s nice and sharp!
The one thing nobody should be overlooking is no frame mounted bump stops, & instead an integrated bump stop in the strut assembly that has been cracking the tops of strut mounts. No other Toyota body on frame 4x4s lack the frame bump stops except for the 6th gen 4Runner & 4th gen Tacoma. 3rd gen Sequoia, 3rd gen Tundra, 2nd gen Fortuner, 8th gen Hilux, Land Cruiser Prado J250, Land Cruiser J300, Land Cruiser J70 all have proper bump stops.
no 3rd gen is getting 25 MPG on the highway, not a 4WD with the 3.4. And the new ones are so much bigger than the 3rd gen, interior wise. Yea your paying a lot, but you are getting more. I like how nobody seems to remember toyota had turbo engines in the 1980's.
@@Mycameron2323 I get at least 19-21 MPG consistently on mine but that's because it's the regular 2wd model on highway terrain tires, and I keep it very well maintained running perfectly, also I live by Atlanta GA so very close to sea level. It isn't 25 MPG, but mind you it has half the speeds.
You guys are probably already planning this. But you got to compare it directly to the 5th gen 4Runner. As a 5th gen owner, I’m just not convinced it’s worth upgrading. We shall see.
I'm happy to upgrade my 5th gen... when it's worn out :D so far my 2020 SR5Premium has 15,800 miles on it 🙃 I should be good for another 5 or 10... or 15 years. Maybe then I'll upgrade to a 6th gen?😛
Its definitely not worth upgrading. Got a 2016 5th gen myself and just going with a 24 again to enjoy the last of the 5th generation. That 6th gen quality i drove sounds like a Nissan rogue rental. You can tell the quality is awful for the price. A 50k priced vehicle that sounds like a 30k vehicle isnt how I like to spend my money. NO THANKS ✋
I have a 5th gen and also a new Tacoma, so I can already share how they compare. Powertrain: I live in Denver and my 4Runner can't maintain 5th (top) gear at 75 MPH speed limits on the interstate. I lifted it and put 33's on it so that's partly my fault. My Tacoma has much better power at elevation due to the turbo, and practically never down-shifts from 8th gear at highway speeds. Instead, it adds turbo pressure (visible via the turbo gauge) to get more power and keep from down-shifting. So the powertrain is a big improvement for me, as a person who lives at ~6100 elevation and regularly drives at 75+ MPH speeds. I recently took my Tacoma on a ~700 mile round trip to the opposite corner of the state, across 2 mountain passes, and averaged 27 MPG for the whole trip. My 4Runner would have been 14-15 MPG. Interior: the Tacoma and new 4Runner's interior are, quite frankly, embarrassing for the money. Both the Tacoma and new 4Runner have hard plastics on the window sill where (as a tall guy) you rest your arm. But then so does the Land Cruiser. You have to bump up to the higher trims -- Limited, Platinum etc -- for them to add a small comfort panel to the top of the door. So they know it's a cheap spot and make you pay to fix it. For my next purpose built offroader I'm either doing a GX Overtrail or that new LX700h Overtrail. Neither of which are cheap, but the GX especially fixes a lot of complaints about the Land Cruiser for not that much more money.

As a Colorado resident with 300+ days of sun, I prefer tiny sunroofs. Panoramic roofs just cook your interior all day long.

@mateof3552 Also, don't buy a black vehicle. Owned one in Arizona, never again.
to be fair you can choose to have the sunshade below the sunroof cover as much or as little of the roof as you want
We got our first one in 1986. Amazing. It was a turbo 2.4 liter engine, 135hp, 173lb-ft torque. The rear top was removable with about 16 bolts :-)

1) is a homogenized parts bin Toyota redesign
2) it's a Tacoma SUV w/ cut and paste exact interior
3) A-piller rake for aerodynamics, puts front row seating further back & dramatically reduces 2nd row seating leg room & ingress/ egress.
4) driver seating height is lower than the 5th Gen and is more like 1,2,3 Gen Tacoma's
5 ) uneven floor when pulling seats down, which 5 Gen owner's asked to be corrected on the 6 Gen
6) small gas tank 19 gallons, compared to 23.9 on the 5th Gen.... Knowing that the 2.4 gets about the same real world mpgs that the 4.0 got
7) higher prices that can't all be blamed on inflation, considering majority of Tacoma production is in Mexico paying $3.00 hr wages to produce the Tacoma but on average across all trims is up $10,000 USD
8) over use of hard thin plastics for interior, reminiscent of 1990's Hyundai interiors base models

I don’t care for this vehicle at all, but getting hung up on the number of cylinders while completely ignoring hp/tq curve is stupid.
@@Holden-McGroin Your ignorance is duly noted. Carry on.....
Well that engine is a snail 😂
that 5 speed and weak engine though
@@Holden-McGroin Ignoring the overcomplication of the motor, the high temperature and pressure it will be under decreasing long term reliability is stupid unless you are one of the posers getting these and flipping them every 3 years.
I would have waited for the hybrid but I'm so glad you guys bought this one to put through it's paces. Great video!
$60…? Prices are crazy…
4 popper turbo with single temp climate zone.... that's a straight out rip off!
Love videos with Roman and Tommy. Reminds me of myself and my dad. Miss you pops!
You can literally just see how cheaply that thing is made. Look at all that garbage plastic and those misaligned panels.
Sweet! Looking forward to to this coverage. Why we love TFL! They buy and own
How about stop Overlanding, up fitting, lifting every vehicle you get. Just do a normal review as most normal people use them. I’d love to see what overall MPG‘s are before you put 44 super swampers on it and a 20 inch lift kit. Just review it as is that would be appreciated.😂
I can feel your excitement. Especially with a new 4runner. Nicely featured. Looking forward to your off road video
04:55 shows how much they paid. Guess Ill still stick to buying used. Could put money away, but slighty used at 30K+ is just to good of a deal to pass up anymore. My 18' Ecosport SES was 26k, at 29k miles. It now has 36k miles an still going strong 3 more years latter. Financed it for....21k, but it sucks because despite my awesome credit score of 740+, I was only able to get 9.1%APR for 72 Months :(
Edit: Least when you buy used, its ALMOST a guarantee all the hiccups are gone by the time you buy it lol
Your car is worth 3400 now
Congratulations TFL , beautiful 4Runner 😊
Thank you and all the others for being our Guinea Pigs and being the beta try out on these vehicles. Good luck on all the recalls that are most likely to come in the future!
58,000!!!!!!!!!!! oh my gosh 4 runner is supposed to be the more affordable japanese offroad vehicle. looks like good stuff but really need something from Hyundai or Kia so we can be in the low 30,000s. The hoda passport is just not good enough.
Toyota puts the trailer wire connector in the worst place. Additionally, the chin spoiler is garbage. I like Toyota, but c'mon Toyota. Almost 60 grand....
@@danaberman6929 you should definitely buy a ford.
That trailer connector will be deleted on the first hard trail. It deleted itself on my Wrangler. Jeep puts it on an even worse place at least on the Sport.
@ I own a 2024 Chevy 2500 ZR2...
@dana… The HD ZR2 “deletes” the trail. 😃
Riverside CA is right around the corner of me! Congratulations on the purchase! Ahhh it would of been nice to meet ya in person and talk about this new Toyota 4Runner, all in all it’s nice and sharp!
At least you won’t take a bath in depreciation when you sell it in a year.
My guess is the way new Toyota vehicles are now that they will take a bath with it. Also they will not keep it for a year.
He can just write it off for the business.
Tommy has become my favorite reviewer on TFL.
He's a great guy!
His personality is great! I just don't understand his choice in vehicles. Either way he does a great job.
he had more offroad "street cred" when he still wore glasses 😂😂
Tariff is on China, not Japan.
Pardon me while I pick my jaw off the floor. $60k???????
I am so jealous - current 5th gen owner, had a 2nd and 3rd gen as well. 4Runner is my dream car - I hope I can afford to get a 6th gen someday.
Not worth $16k over an SR5 4x4.
I was waiting for the "oh dad time to change that oil" and then the laugh. I wonder how many people will understand that one.
Crazy that my 99 3rd gen gets about that exact same fuel milage. This has more power I suppose but MPG hasn't changed in 25 years lol
no 3rd gen is getting 25 MPG on the highway, not a 4WD with the 3.4. And the new ones are so much bigger than the 3rd gen, interior wise. Yea your paying a lot, but you are getting more. I like how nobody seems to remember toyota had turbo engines in the 1980's.
Brother you are not getting over 17 in that truck. I own a 3g
Congratulations on all the success, bro 🎉
You guys are probably already planning this. But you got to compare it directly to the 5th gen 4Runner. As a 5th gen owner, I’m just not convinced it’s worth upgrading. We shall see.
It's not. The rear seat is a disappointment compared to the 5th Gen.
I'm happy to upgrade my 5th gen... when it's worn out :D so far my 2020 SR5Premium has 15,800 miles on it 🙃 I should be good for another 5 or 10... or 15 years. Maybe then I'll upgrade to a 6th gen?😛
@@leechburglights 6th Gen will wear out before your 5th Gen so that might not be an option haha.
Dude you're the first person that I've seen in my life getting so excited over a Toyota😅😅😅😅😅
60k and you don’t even get dual zone climate?! 😂 my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix SE (the lowest trim model) had dual zone climate. 😂😂😂
Did it have more plastic inside? 😃
1999 was 26 years ago…
@arsy… I think you missed his point. 😃
@@is6566 … u know what, i think i did😅 but i think ill just leave the first comment
“Less is more” is NOT suppose to be a thing in cars, for one thing.
I don’t care how high you make your voice… nothing makes a 2.4 V4 exciting!
Good Luck with that 4cyl engine.
@@rimfirejunkie7427 Toyota four-cylinder engines are some of the best power plants in the world. The first 4runners came with four-cylinder engines.
@@NomenClature-o8s The 22R engine in the Gen 1 4Runner was naturally aspirated and squeezed out 105 ponies. That is about 26 HP per cylinder from a 2.4 liter.
Asking a 2.4 to pull around 4700 pounds and tow as well, turbo'd, is putting a lot of additional strain on components.
I heard it was coming so I bought a '23 with a hard proven 4.0 6cly.
@ I’m pretty sure the engineers at Toyota know what they are doing.
@@NomenClature-o8s Just like they did with the Tundra Turbo motor? 😜
@@cmiles97x38 That wasn’t the fault of the engineers. That was the fault of the factory in Alabama not cleaning metal shavings out of the block during manufacturing. I’m SURE you knew that, right?
I've always loved 4Runners, these new ones have me almost ready to finally do it. Everything's going turbo or electric.... no way around that but a turbo 6 cylinder would be nice, even if just optional. Platinum trim is really nice and I love the "underground" color.
If youre gonna spend 50k plus on a 4 banger yota suv at least get the LC
This thing needs a v6. Toyota should have never got rid of the 3.5L V6. That engine was silky smooth and would go 500,000 miles. Sure it didn't have 1000hp but it had all you ever needed to get around.
The 4Runner had a 4.0L V6.
@@XploreAz hes talking prior to that engine. itwas 3.5
The new Tacoma has way more power than v6 model, and the 4cylinder with premium fuel adds 20 HP on a Dynd. This 4 runner will be better in drive and feel, and power
Still made in Japan?
They just answered that question.
@ana… Yes. Made in Japan.
In Mexico, same as the new Tacoma
@@justinandoutWrong.
@justin… TFL literally mentioned the Japanese factory’s name in this video when looking the Monroney sticker.
