They look like maternity jeans now! The sides were fine, maybe recreate the top of sides to match the jeans but leave out the top around! In same color/material the sides alone prob wouldn't have been noticeable!

I've done something similar. I put the cuts a little bit behind the side towards the back, so you don't see it as much. Its also always better to use a slightly darker fabric, than the original. A lot of times I just fill that area with elastic. But I just stop it at the top of the original jeans. Like just a little crack there, not above the waistline. For example a dark cotton floral fabric might look nice for the patch. Then when you put a belt on it, you don't really see the waistline too much.
Yea adding that extra waistline made it look like a middle school project i did many yrs ago lol. If your shirt covers it (non-tuckers & non-crop top wearers) than go for it! Noone will see it i guess. 😝

We used to do this with our jeans as a fashion trend. All the way down both outer sides to the bottom, we would put in a couple inches of a beautiful print. It was actually really nice to sew in a trendy floral design, plaid or some other shapes like hearts, rainbows and butterflies. You could also keep your smaller jeans by sewing in the material to make them a size or 2 bigger. We did this to our jean pants, jean shorts and jean skirts. It looks great. It was amazing for Mother on a single income. But us kids loved it for fashion. Plus it was ours and one of a kind, unless someone got the same material and jeans. Highly unlikely ❤
Great tip it's also good to go ahead and make little slits on the sides and tie them so you would have kind of like a corset pattern on each hip instead of this print

Если одежда закроет верх брюк, то отрезать верхнюю часть и пришить другую на резинке типа кокетки, меньше заморочек. Даже от тех же голубых джинс срезать не пояс с резинкой, а см 20
excellent idea,it is high time we normalize making modifications on our clothes and make it cool to show, and stop buying clothes ,the rate we have been doing it in the last twenty years is absolutely insane and the earth cant take it any more.
I love this idea. I'm loving the elastic wastes and I wear mg shirts out so this fix would be great. In my younger years I would've liked it to be the same color, but I get it, use what you have. I have 3 sewing machines and I'm scared of them. Hoping to get enough ideas and information to hop on my mom' or grandma's old sewing machine. 😊
I would've added grommets to the sides of the splits and made it looked like a lace up corset effect on the sides. Then, if you gain or lose a few pounds, you can make custom adjustments. You can also have fun with what you use for lacings - black cord, metallic, color, etc.
Lol bought new jean and it wasn’t fitting, guess what I did? I joined an African print cloth to the side and it looks soo perfect 👍🏽 No need to now join the top of another trouser

Roaman's and Women Within (online/catalog companies for full figured women) have stretchy jeans. They have all types.

I would've added grommets to the sides of the splits and made it looked like a lace up corset effect on the sides. Then, if you gain or lose a few pounds, you can make custom adjustments. You can also have fun with what you use for lacings - black cord, metallic, color, etc.
If you want to downsize jeans just run a strip of elastic through the waist band in the back. Less than 5 minutes and it's adjustable
