Several friends of mine did the same as we shared noted, we were all renting homes own by Chinese base companies. It's very scary and no one seems concerned.
We've built some pretty sad hardpack clay into good soil using sand, bio-char, and very large amounts of compost. We covered the entire thing with leaves and cardboard the first winter, and it's incredible how many worms we found in spring. Seems as if caring for what we have would be the only really viable thing to do, though an ideal environment, which is great for gardening. You can’t use machinery on it or scale it up, though. We need large community gardens or to turn our front lawns into gardens.

It’s not just farm land they are buying.. I’ve noticed in my residential neighborhoods in Texas that Chinese companies are buying up all the houses that are being sold.. then turning around and renting them at a higher price which is driving up the cost of living in my town.

Happens in London too. I rented a room in a house near hyde-park, beautiful house but was planning on leaving to move to a cheaper and younger area. The last month I was there, the agent was doing a facetime video with someone, showing the entire house. I asked about if it was a viewing for my room, he said no, it was a Chinese couple who were looking to buy the house. I ask more questions turns out, they've never stepped foot inside of the UK in their lives and they had no plans on ever doing so. They just wanted to buy the house, get rid of all tenants and make it vacant for a couple of decades and sell it later. They even had a translator for the FaceTime call because they didn't know a single word of English. After I left, I found out from old housemates who still lived there after I moved out, that they were kicked out because the Chinese couple bought the house and pretty much boarded it up ready for 2 or 3 decades of vacancy. And people wonder why housing is so expensive in London. 10% of the residential houses are vacant. Not because nobody can't afford it, but because the owners live in a different country and are holding them to sell them decades from now.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I've wanted to start covering parts of my yard with cardboard. I wasn't sure what to put over the cardboard. I once made a lot of soil by piling up grass clippings on a flower bed. It cooked and became soil, and I planted antique roses. They are still alive 20 years later.

I'm a born & raised Texan, and in Jr. High we moved from East Texas to the Texas Panhandle. You can look further and see less than ANY place on earth. NO trees, no green grass, nothing until you get to Amarillo. NOTHING will freaking grow there except for tumble weeds and the occasional mesquite bush with thorns. If you look at the map that Dr. Phil shared, even though that area of Texas is a barren wasteland, there are red areas where the Chinese have purchased land. The reason why... PANTEX. It's the final assembly point for all United States military nuclear warheads. It's also the same place where when they decided to reduce the number of nukes we had. They shipped them back there and took the warheads off and have stored them in bunkers there. And there is a military base with a runway. That's long enough that it was the backup emergency runway for the space shuttle missions. If the Chinese are buying up land around pantex, we got big problems! And there is no other reason for buying that land, because again, nothing will grow and thrive out there.
In fact, I wouldn't take land out there if you tried to GIVE it to me! If they want it, something is WAY WRONG!

Those 5 hold the majority of foreign owned US farmland. Given China is a top 2 in the world in population and gdp, you’d expect they would own more

Happens in London too. I rented a room in a house near hyde-park, beautiful house but was planning on leaving to move to a cheaper and younger area. The last month I was there, the agent was doing a facetime video with someone, showing the entire house. I asked about if it was a viewing for my room, he said no, it was a Chinese couple who were looking to buy the house. I ask more questions turns out, they've never stepped foot inside of the UK in their lives and they had no plans on ever doing so. They just wanted to buy the house, get rid of all tenants and make it vacant for a couple of decades and sell it later. They even had a translator for the FaceTime call because they didn't know a single word of English. After I left, I found out from old housemates who still lived there after I moved out, that they were kicked out because the Chinese couple bought the house and pretty much boarded it up ready for 2 or 3 decades of vacancy.
And people wonder why housing is so expensive in London. 10% of the residential houses are vacant. Not because nobody can't afford it, but because the owners live in a different country and are holding them to sell them decades from now.

Just because it says Canada 1, Netherlands 2, etc. doesn’t mean a majority of those aren’t Chinese owned companies headquartered in Canada. In fact that is extremely common. To give the appearance of independence. That’s why tiktok’s parent company is not based in china, it’s somewhere like Singapore. But tons of unfriendly governments use Canada, Mexico, etc.

In Canada, Chinese have been faking income and getting mortgages and buying up housing here at insane rates which is a major factor in our housing crisis.
I don’t think it’s faking income. They have wealthy ppl who buy the housing and hot potato between themselves to increase the price. They did it through students who come to the country and some families.

It would be very hard to fake income, I would get people loans for cars and it was very easy to tell when someone was not so forth coming on their actual income. When you are an under writer and do the job everyday I imagine it’s pretty easy to see the signs. Just my thoughts.

They tried doing this in Dundurn Saskatchewan…. I live in Saskatoon and am a 15 min drive to this community which also happens to be situated right next to Canada’s main hub for the storage of weapons….it’s the military of course but this was a project that almost happened…. seriously scary shit
This much land next to that many military instalations cant be a coincidence and is totally strategic. I had no clue this was happening but now that i do i will be watching carefully from now on.
