  • I wanted to create hair cards from the new blender hair system in a fast and simple way and this what I came up with.
    Hope this helps anyone.
    Curve points can also scale with Alt-S and tilt with Ctrl-T

    Great video, but you need to project your voice a bit more. Very difficult to understand what you're saying. Not a slam... just an observation.

      Yes I know. I am pretty anti-social. So my voice is weak. I kinda do not like talking unless I believe it is valuable information to others. It will probably not be so much better in the future because I believe it takes to much effort and I do not think I will really reach many. I kinda have more fun learning then talking.

      the youtube auto-generated captions kinda saved me on some occasions ☠️
      they’re still a project saver though,
      i probably would’ve quit the project if i didn’t find this video 😅

    i have switched back to 3.3.1 but even after the hairdo I still can't find the convert to mesh button in the object's modifiers panel, please answer

      I guess unedited video proof is not enough for you then...Are you using same blender version? Probably missed some steps?

    Cannot hear or understand most of this unfortunately. You also do stuff without showing exactly you are doing. Can you redo this tutorial with clearer vocals/audio, and so step by step. I cannot follow this.

    GOLD! I absolutely LOVE how you explain this! It is so detailed and right to the point. Is this how the new Hairsystem works in blender? Do you have any other way to get in contact? I so hope you will do more tutorial on hair like this! Thank you very much

    • @jsynk
      @jsynk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I would say this is how new hair system mostly works. It can do more things with curves/geometry nodes. But it seems a bit too complicated for me. I kinda want a a easy and fast workflow. I think the next thing for me to do is to create/bake hair cards textures of different kinds with proper normal maps and so on. Need to experiment some first.

      @@jsynk I spent the last 2 month figuring out how to make hair...I used so many different tools and apps and it is not easy to find somebody that is sharing their knowledge that detailed! Thanks for that. If you like i would invite you to my little Discord Community and maybe we all could help each other to figure this out... Just an idea :-)

    • @jsynk

      @@sammedia3d Sure you can invite me jsynk#7758. I looked at your portfolio and I am bit confused. Are trying to make high poly cg art? If so there are many other videos you can check. I would probably search "Blender 3.3 hair" in youtube and watch them. I am specifically trying to learn how to make art for games. One does not need hair cards in that case. No need to convert to particles, mesh, curves and so on.

    Alright. Good tutorial. It definitely resolves the very thing I was looking for....how to turn the hair from the New System into hair cards that actually seem to align with the scalp. It took me a couple of tries of watching your video after downloading it, and trying to follow along, but I got it to work. So, *thank you* for the tutorial. Again, all I can say in any (politely offered) criticism is that you need to get past the "anti-social by nature" thing, and project your voice better. If you were teaching this to a class of students in a live environment, they would not be able to hear you. Where it gets distracting is when you ramble a little bit (you're not doing it that much, but enough that it does become distracting) between actual tutorial points. Also, perhaps another pointer is to use ScreenCast (it should be available in your Blender add ons). This will make it easier to see what keys/mouse buttons you are clicking when executing various commands, especially considering the quiet nature of your voice.
    Again, these are meant to be friendly, constructive criticisms. Indeed, I encourage you to do more tutorials. You seem to have a lot of this figured out, and again, you covered the very aspect that I needed in this to make hair cards that actually seem to fall into place...so on that...BRAVO. :) The more tutorials you do, the more practice you get in doing the tutorials, you'll build up more confidence in your voice. (Next thing you know, you'll be barking like a Drill Sergeant. LOL!)
    Have a great day, and thank you, once again. :)

      Hey, can you explain how you got the cards to align to the scalp?

    • @saintelmo5590
      @saintelmo5590 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MoogieSRO Please don't take this as snarky. :) But, I have not been able to actually put this to practice, because even with headphones on, it is extremely difficult to hear what this guy is saying....even at maximum volume. I just said it was a good tutorial, demonstratively, but I cannot hear what he is saying as to why this works for him.

    • @MoogieSRO
      @MoogieSRO 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@saintelmo5590 Oh... Huh. I was confused, because you wrote that you got it to work. I'm not sure how else to interpret that statement, lol. So you didn't get it to work? Oh well. :( If anyone else has figured out the problem, I'm sure we would both love to hear a solution, because currently it's the one issue holding this back from being a perfect workflow. Cheers!

    • @saintelmo5590
      @saintelmo5590 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MoogieSRO You're right....I guess I did write that....but it's apparently not a technique I repeated successfully. I would venture to say that what happened was that when I tried to repeat that process after the first try, I would have to refer back to this video...and suddenly, I just lost patience because it meant straining to hear what was being said and reconciling that against what was being shown. Please forgive my oversight on that. That, I'll own, and apologize for the confusion. That much is entirely on me.
      Let's put a finer point on this....Blender's new hair system is cool, save for the fact that people have to figure out the system pretty much for themselves. Blender may have created a couple of somewhat official tutorials, but none that show how to achieve the end result of making hair cards out of the system. You would think that that would be a priority tutorial for Blender, as I am sure they are aware that people make characters and meshes for use in other software. Otherwise, it is basically Blender saying: "Here's our new system. Good bye and good luck." As well paid as Blender devs are, you would figure they have enough money to designate some personnel as "instructors" to provide more concise tutelage on how to use their new systems.
      I am thankful to *this* tutorial creator for taking the time to figure it out and sharing knowledge freely....it's just that it is so difficult to hear what the tutor is saying, even with headphones at max volume, and that makes following this tutorial a chore. Turning on captions is no help either because the captions are auto-generated, which only adds to the problem.

    this is a really really great video, out of the probably 100s i've watched trying to grasp a good way to create 'fur' for my content creations for second life, and while using the new hair particle system, converting it to hair cards, etc. If i had only ONE suggestion, it's just to raise your voice up just a little....you're very knowledgeable but sometimes your voice comes across very quiet, low, and mumbly. Either that or maybe add a few text snippets to the screen to help aid the viewer :)
