The first wave of real popular U.S. youtubers are all from low-income states. I can count on two hands the amount of them from Ohio for example. This is Caveman science, but it may be pretty close to the truth.
Honestly, I always thought that vtubing was a way for people in much "riskier" sectors (I.e music) to get out there and make it. Seeing this just reinforces my point. I wonder if there's any correlation with a % of them being acoustic too...

There is an issue in Canada where all the companies use the same systems as the us for resume filtering. But because our population is so much smaller, and spread so much farther, it doesn’t work the same. So if you’re a Canadian looking for a job, you need to search up how resume filtering programs work and optimize every single application for every single company. It’s stupid, and shouldn’t be like this, but it is, so we need to deal with it
I feel seen LOL. I have a job that pays well above minimum wage. But y'know...who wants to work doing something they dislike for the majority of their life? I think being able to make someone else's day brighter sounds simultaneously more appealing and valuable to society. TH-cam helped me a lot over the past 5 years so I would like to be able to give back and provide happiness to others too.
I got laid off in December. I've been submitting applications all over the country for 7 months. I've only gotten a handful of interviews. It's not about doing something wrong, job hunting is just incredibly hard and demoralizing. I legit don't know if I'm going to survive to the end of the year
If I do manage to get my content creation off the ground, you’re already on my list of people who I’d love to ask to collaborate with if or when I do get a vtuber model and setup
As a Canadian to I have never had to put out resumes. More then once I have had people come and ask me to work for them. It's not a lack of jobs it's a lack of skills that are actually in demand and a person's ability to pivot. I've gone from a dealership mechanic to in the military. Welding shop supervisor and now I work on firetrucks and build police cars. If I was 200k in debt from school life would be different I guess.
Don't know where the fuck I am but this is more than accurate. A big problem I've noticed is that lots of times it's companies with extremely high turnover rates with even higher standards or overly niché positions that are more widely advertised, leaving generalized positions largely unheard. Because we live in such a digital age, more and more companies straight up don't even take physical applications anymore, but also refuse to post listings more than once, so only the companies that either don't want or won't keep you have any chance of seeing applicants. Moreover, because Canada has an incredibly high immigration rate, plenty of jobs are meted out to people who are willing to accept lower wages, creating an overflow of workers with zero job opportunities despite their typically higher competence. That's not to say it's the fault of people coming in, quite the opposite, it's just raw greed. Lower the standard of pay and quality equivalently over time and just hope your workers figure it out. Never hire the learned workers because wisdom is expensive, instead exploit desperate people vying for the crumbs of first world civilization and hang everyone out to dry for profit. That means everyone who isn't already established in a higher level working field by now is at an unfathomable disadvantage. Hell, even experienced personnel are being left in the dust, meaning people are left with nigh zero options for work, and any that remain are utterly soul crushing. There are so many options for cheap personnel, even in positions that require skilled labour or technical ability, employers literally don't even need your application. Posting applications these days is as good as playing roulette. You're doing nothing but yelling into the void and hoping somebody hears, which gives companies with vacancies this idea that they're helpong you out by giving you any job at all, no matter how utterly hellish it is. And it's more than likely only going to get worse. Also you have a very soothing voice, it's awesome.
so interesting thing as someone who has lived in both united states and Canada I think generally speaking the bar for getting a decent job is seemingly lower in Canada however when people do get jobs a lot of them tend to stay longer on average but on top of that we are going through issues with both our economy and job market so unemployment has gone brrrrrr I guess it also doesn't help tho that the Canadian political scene is basically a circus at this point
I've been involved in hiring at my company before. A single public posting for customer service, the lowest level job in our company which barely pays above minimum wage will get over 500 applicants. Only one person will be hired. It's pretty horrible to be searching for work in Canada.

Places like Ontario have programs like OYAP which begin around grade 11 and let you transition directly into a job you CO-OP'd in from said grade (so it at least helps you network and build your resume), Alberta has a similar program (Registered Apprenticeship Program/RAP) - When you are 15-16, apply for minimum wage jobs, choose 1 and apply to it several times (it took me 6-7 resume submissions to Tim Hortons to land me my first job), follow up every 3-5 days if following up is a possiblility (e.g, "Concerning our prior phonecall/email...") and if you secure an interview, be ready to cancel any plans in order to get that first shift, even if that means starting work that day or the next - Security companies like Paladin will actually take you through getting your security license and training, and you don't have to pay them back if you work at least 6 months with them, they're really popular with immigrants - Get a full driver's license (G or Class 5 non-GDL for Ontario/Alberta respectively), especially in places like Alberta where 90% of jobs hinge in you having a non GDL class 5 (although I vaguely remember them taking out the GDL step as if last year) - I can't say too much on urban Canada like Toronto's GTA region, but in Alberta, manual labor is the norm and is pretty well paying (at minimum around $26/hr, even with the adjusted prices, you'll be living well), get whatever you can get and talk to whomever you can on the worksite to possibly network but also make your worklife bearable

- Security companies like Paladin will actually take you through getting your security license and training, and you don't have to pay them back if you work at least 6 months with them, they're really popular with immigrants
- Get a full driver's license (G or Class 5 non-GDL for Ontario/Alberta respectively), especially in places like Alberta where 90% of jobs hinge in you having a non GDL class 5 (although I vaguely remember them taking out the GDL step as if last year)
