You know, her French is definitely not some one who was in French immersion (you study all subjects in French and basically become fluent) but the level of French she has retained from school is pretty impressive compared to like 95% of people here in maple land.

Teletoon, YTV and treehouse literally made up my entire childhood, I used to watch lego ninjago on Teletoon and octonauts on Treehouse to name a few lol

@@buggart Yeah, I was neither an American nor a 90's kid, so I only got to watch like, 1 or 2 episodes of the thing, it was barely on TV, and of the few episodes that made it here half have unfortunately been locally dubbed. I think most dubs are meh, not my favorite but I can live with them, but the local dubs just.. even as a tasteless kid back then I knew they were just terrible, they even translated series titles so something like Assassination Classroom was Invincible Teacher which is at least a thousand times less interesting. I'd rather have dodgy and hilariously inaccurate subtitles than those dubs.

A quick comment to apolgoize for the two weirdly-placed lines (namely: "I'm Canadian!" and "Goddamnit!" but I've got some software/hardware issues that made/make it impossible for me to open the project file in my video editor to edit it in a more sub-friendly way, so I did the best I could with what I had.
If anything it served me as a good reminder to leave enough room for subtitles in the videos I've edited since I've edited that one!

I could tell she was Canadian early on by how she pronounces her short "ou" sounds and certain words starting with "wh". I can't explain, but there is a difference between Canadian and American pronunciations that I'm always able to detect and I have yet to be proven wrong. :)
But, yeah, saying "zed" or is another big hint. Back in the 70s, people would try to sneak into Canada to get away from the draft for the Vietnam War. They started asking people at the border claiming to be Canadian to recite the alphabet and were able to catch a number of people by how they said the last letter.

Hmm... I think I've seen this before, at least the first part about what kind of tv channels she's seen growing up, and that she's actually Canadian. :p

I started watching holoEN a lot last year and so I went through a lot of old VODs (and still do lmao)
But yeah my channel is like a 'diary' of sort so I just upload cute, funny, sad, touching moments of streams I've watched, both for my own good (I rewatch some of my clips every now and then) and hopefully entertaining or, ideally, getting people interested in someone!
But yeah, I often clip stuff really late and by the time I do a lot of it has already been clipped ahah~

Well, her French is a lot better than mine. Nobody speaks French on the west coast, and I did horribly in French class. If I grew up closer to the east coast, it might have been different, but there was simply no impetus for me to learn the language.

"Oui" is a word with a lot of nuances to it so I didn't feel at ease translating it as "Yes" and-

Canadian English is a crossover between British and American. We tend to use "zed" and "zee" interchangeably.
As an Englishman i'm deeply offended by people speaking the dead language known as French.....
