Yay, Gravity Falls conspiracy theories! How fun! I will say that, yes, this is in fact something people noticed way back then and made theories about, though I've also noted that Gravity Falls theories were kind of just throwing everything at a wall and seeing what stuck together so that tells you very little. I can't make my silly jokes about "King Clawthorne's past life" anymore because you now know about the character with the same voice... So I've got no fake spoilers today. I do have a bit of trivia, though. This is the episode where the special commentary has Stan describe his ex-wife, Marilyn, as having pale skin, an abnormally-sharp tooth, and wearing a shirt that said "Over 30 & Very Flirty". AKA, Eda. In terms of timeline, this would've happened before Gravity Falls, likely within only a couple of years (Eda is much younger than Stan, she'd be in her mid-to-late 30s in the present of Gravity Falls), and before she ever met King. Code: "IT WORKS FOR PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGS!"

Alex Hirsh the creator has gone on record saying this is the animation error in the show he is most frustrated by. It caused him to receive a lot of letters from fans who (wrongly) though they'd cracked the biggest mystery in the show. Bless Alex for responding personally to so many.

You’re so smart, Mosco! Catching that there’s two Stans. One is from an alternate dimension and got jealous his alternate had a successful business so he came and locked the original to this dimension in a prison in the basement and replaced him. The kids found out too late to save the original Stan and it was HEARTBREAKING.

About the Stan-double: Very Impressive that you found it this early on! Only becomes a plotline 2 seasons later. That's one of his scams. He needed to disappear after a scheme of his got the FBIs attention, so he found a doppelganger and stole his identity. I think the dude was a writer or something, overall pretty unassuming, just the perfect victim from Stans perspective. Later the guy comes back for revenge, pretty scary villain.
I love that you're keeping on the lookout for little details and really getting into the conspiracy element of the show. But I can assure you that past Stan having a cleft chin in "The Time Traveler's Pig" is just an animation error with no bearing on the plot whatsoever. Yep, definitely unimportant. Also, there's a series of _Gravity Falls_ shorts called _Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained,_ the first episode of which has Dipper investigating Stan's tattoo. You don't have to react to it, but please check it out when you get a chance.
Yeah, the velociraptor isn't even CLOSE to being as inaccurate as the "pterodactyl" in this episode, which is something like twenty times the size of a real pterodactyl, and STILL isn't anywhere near big enough to have laid an egg that size.

With how much attention Mosco's paying to Gruncle Stan I'm surprised she hasn't said anything about the obvious hints of his death yet, especially with him literally landing in a coffin here at 19:54 pfff It's funny how many of us picked up on that back in the day and were convinced that it meant that Stan was going to die, only to get the reveal that he has already been dead this whole time CFVGHB it's CRAZY btw, the mosquito in the sap was just a Jurassic Park reference, as was Stan's name for his theme park idea ("Jurassic Sap Hole")

The underground world of dinosaurs was before Ice Age 3. We had the Hollow Earth guys and the book *that spawned a few movies*, Journey to the Center of the Earth, which this episode takes more than a few elements from.
I never realized you could read the initials here, I thought the the big reveal of HV being Henry V or Henry The Fifth wasnt coming till season 2. Yes, Stan, Mabel & Dipper are all descendants of British Royalty and in a surprise move Stan tries to claim the British throne.
There's actually only one Gruncle Stan... But he's human wax figure hybrid, and he keeps some of his memories in his spare Wax heads all over the house. That's why He needed that one back so badly in episode 3. Anyways they all have minor changes. My favorite is the Uncle Stan head with the Gold Tooth, moddled after his ex Wife's.
Ah yes. The episode that started the "Great Dinosaur War" arc between the dinosaurs and the Gnomes. Also Stan is the author of the Journal (s) and this one here is a clone.

Most people don't catch any of the little hints about "Stan's" true nature, and are completely unprepared when the penultimate episode of Season 2 rolls around and he's revealed to be a shape-shifting pig demon who killed and ate the real Grunkle Stan and stole his identity so he could groom the twins into becoming his demon children.

McGucket is both one of the most intelligent and one of the weirdest characters as seen by his building a giant aquatic robot to get attention instead of talking to his son. Takes smarts to build the robot but it is for a bit of a weird reason.

Velociraptors in the jp movies were actually deinonychus, so it's not so much oversized as misnamed. Ofc raptors were as birdlike as dinosaurs ever got, so the lack of feathers is about as egregious as it could have been, but honestly, you could retcon this as the park designers caring more about looks than accuracy. ...I watched jurassic park in my dinosaur phase as a little kid and I've thought more about that movie than anything else put together.
You are correct about the actual size of the Velociraptor - essentially toothy chickens. The Utahraptor, however, is about the right size for that beastie.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen any other reactors as invested in Stan’s tattoo! Also have to give you kudos for attempting to read the newspaper clippings! I don’t remember even Blind Wave trying to do that!!! And it never occurs to me to read more than the headlines in tv shows and movies (though apparently some shows and films have indeed hidden story details or plot points in the articles according to friends of mine who have worked in the industry so it’s good you thought to try).
I've actually never noticed that. As many times as I've watched this, you'd think I'd catch that. Think I'll be paying a bit more attention now. You've got all kinds of things I missed. This show will make you see things all over the place. Some of them are important, some of them aren't. The fun part is figuring out which is which.
Props to Mosco for spotting that so early. It took me until season 2 to even realise all of the hints towards Stan being an impostor. Like even as of now, there has been so much imagery of Stan being murdered. Like the actual Stan.
The Stan we know is a duplicate of the original Stan who was threatened with death. he had a very important job and couldn't trust anyone else but himself to finish it so he literally created another version of him. Original Stan died (was purposely killed) in a car accident, and the clone Stan's tattoo is his serial code

I am glad to see you have grown to like Waddles after all. I already mentioned this but I am not sure if you saw that there is a theme reason why people keep giving fake spoilers. While the show was airing there where a lot of theories online. Then the creators noticed some of the fans predicted what was going to happen. So they intentionally leaked a FAKE scene online to make sure even thoughs fans would be supprised!

Alright, catching up on all of Moscos reactions being a semi new fan. My heart squeed when she explains when she believes she’s cracked something about Stan. But then she kind of switched them 😅 saying the one dancing is the imposter. I couldn’t help but say to my tv (which is not new to me) “Aw Mosco, you’re getting close, but you switched them. Stan was the one dancing but Grunkle Ford (who we meet later) is the one in the shack when they time travel 😬 I love all of Moscos reactions and I can’t wait to finish Gravity falls and then watch all of her owl house ^-^ 😊
On the raptor size thing, another dinosaur inconsistency that we see here that is very common, mainly due to popularity is seeing Stegosaurus alongside the likes of Triceratops and T-Rex. When they died out long before the Cretaceous, so long in fact T-Rex is closer to US in time than it was to Stegosaurus.
I see you noticed the tattoo in Grunkle Stan's fake story he tells Mabel. Little-known fun fact: there's a brief moment where you can see that it's actually the letters OLHV, which, when translated through one of the show's ciphers, means "LIES". This is clearly a reference to the fact that every other commenter is lying to you, and that Grunkle Stan is actually a male clone of Eda Clawthorne, which is the real reason they broke up.
While Velociraptors were relatively small, there are other raptors that were much larger, like Utahraptor (up to 5.5 m long). What they showed in the sap was nearly the size of a T. Rex though, much larger than any known raptors. That said, all of the dinos in this episode are larger than they would have been, for effect.
Wow, pretty close on the multi-pig guess. It's not so much that there are more pigs incoming, as it is an army of duplicate Waddles, thanks to the time-travel shenanigans that the twins get up to and Waddle's supernatural affinity for temporal manipulation.

Fun fact, Velociraptor did have relatives that size (Utahraptor weighed about as much as a grizzly bear), but you are correct to say that Velociraptor itself weighed less than 20kg. Pterodactyl also wasn't a real creature. The actual animal (Pterodactylus) probably weighed less than a chicken. The creature in the episode is much closer in size to Quetzalcoatlus, a related creature which weighed over 200kg and was as tall as a giraffe!
you can actually go from blue eyes to brown eyes tho probably not as an adult but as a child, that is more than possible and the chin is probably an animation error

So although there is a specie of raptor about the size of a Huge chicken, many species were about on par with large dogs, with some even getting close to small “large cats”

Velociraptors were small, but the 'utahraptors', which were found in North America, could get as big as the raptor stuck in the sap.
Jurassic Park ones are also based on the dinosaur Deinonychus which was about the correct size for the movies

McGucket is both one of the most intelligent and one of the weirdest characters as seen by his building a giant aquatic robot to get attention instead of talking to his son. Takes smarts to build the robot but it is for a bit of a weird reason.

Velociraptors in the jp movies were actually deinonychus, so it's not so much oversized as misnamed. Ofc raptors were as birdlike as dinosaurs ever got, so the lack of feathers is about as egregious as it could have been, but honestly, you could retcon this as the park designers caring more about looks than accuracy.
...I watched jurassic park in my dinosaur phase as a little kid and I've thought more about that movie than anything else put together.
You are correct about the actual size of the Velociraptor - essentially toothy chickens. The Utahraptor, however, is about the right size for that beastie.

This is likely a nod to the seminal show _Happy Days,_ which was _set_ in the 50s and colours a lot of people's image of that time, while actually being from the 1970s and building its success on "50stalgia" of the time.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen any other reactors as invested in Stan’s tattoo! Also have to give you kudos for attempting to read the newspaper clippings! I don’t remember even Blind Wave trying to do that!!! And it never occurs to me to read more than the headlines in tv shows and movies (though apparently some shows and films have indeed hidden story details or plot points in the articles according to friends of mine who have worked in the industry so it’s good you thought to try).

I am glad to see you have grown to like Waddles after all. I already mentioned this but I am not sure if you saw that there is a theme reason why people keep giving fake spoilers. While the show was airing there where a lot of theories online. Then the creators noticed some of the fans predicted what was going to happen. So they intentionally leaked a FAKE scene online to make sure even thoughs fans would be supprised!

Stan was the one dancing but Grunkle Ford (who we meet later) is the one in the shack when they time travel 😬

On the raptor size thing, another dinosaur inconsistency that we see here that is very common, mainly due to popularity is seeing Stegosaurus alongside the likes of Triceratops and T-Rex. When they died out long before the Cretaceous, so long in fact T-Rex is closer to US in time than it was to Stegosaurus.
I love how no one ever notices that the T-rex has six fingers the first time they watch the show.
When Waddles' DNA get spliced with Dinosaur DNA and becomes mega Waddles this is gonna get good.
I see you noticed the tattoo in Grunkle Stan's fake story he tells Mabel. Little-known fun fact: there's a brief moment where you can see that it's actually the letters OLHV, which, when translated through one of the show's ciphers, means "LIES".
This is clearly a reference to the fact that every other commenter is lying to you, and that Grunkle Stan is actually a male clone of Eda Clawthorne, which is the real reason they broke up.
While Velociraptors were relatively small, there are other raptors that were much larger, like Utahraptor (up to 5.5 m long). What they showed in the sap was nearly the size of a T. Rex though, much larger than any known raptors. That said, all of the dinos in this episode are larger than they would have been, for effect.
Velociraptor wasnt that big, but dakotaraptor and megaraptor definitely got up there! Plus, cassowaries are still around, and they're terrifying

Fun fact, Velociraptor did have relatives that size (Utahraptor weighed about as much as a grizzly bear), but you are correct to say that Velociraptor itself weighed less than 20kg.
Pterodactyl also wasn't a real creature. The actual animal (Pterodactylus) probably weighed less than a chicken. The creature in the episode is much closer in size to Quetzalcoatlus, a related creature which weighed over 200kg and was as tall as a giraffe!
