"The ocean isn't that bad."
The beginning of her hubris.
Fax
Famous last words lmao
ah the inocence...
she sould watch the 10 worst wasys to get murdered by animals!
30 seconds in and she's choosing violence.
Not so Fun Fact: the Humboldt Squid 'dragging prey until they go unconscious' isn't a bit, it's how they hunt, they will swarm prey and latch on before plummeting down as far as possible. They use the atmospheric pressure change to turn their victim's brains into soup before tearing them apart, AND they have been known to hunt human divers...
Thank you for that information that doesn't at all help with my Thalassophobia 💕
@@Sour_ChasmI can make it even better, when hunting they flash bright red, so bright you can see it in the depths beneath your feet. So if you ever go swimming out in the ocean at night and you see red flashes under you... don't panic because they'll see you.~
@@boanoah6362 Okay, now I'll inevitably have nightmares
Thanks
Do I want to look up humboldt squid attacks on divers...?
I guess I'm swimming with a harpoon or something if I ever have to dive in the ocean@@boanoah6362
I just imagine that purple octopus shaking with teary eyes as hes laughed at by scientists lmao
That poor animal.
maybe he's crying but we can't see it 😢
"I have drawn you as the soyjack and I as the gigachad."
Unnamed marine biologist, 2024 A.D.
I imagine that's what aliens will do to us when they find Earth lol
I think Markiplier said it best "Fuck the Ocean!!"
not that way
Speak for yourself.@@WhiteStray
Instructions unclear, now owe the Atlantic Ocean. Child support.....
Markiplier is a fool and a slave to the internet.
@@ectothermic LAND MAMMAL I HAVE BEEN DOING IT SINCE THE LATE DEVONIAN
The deep ocean is like Dark Souls irl you're insane to actually deal with that shit willingly
Better that than murdering those animals and putting on a dinner plate like what those stupid Asians do.
with a flair of dead space
I literally found this video after beating the final boss in the elden ring dlc 😂
Excellent. I like being freaked out by the deep sea anomalies that lurk where the sun don't shine
scariest part is that they aren't anomalies, they are natural and they are down there all the time and all over the place :D lurking in the deep, waiting, hungering.
That sounds like the skill issue.
They live in buttholes?!?!
The face of the telescope fish makes me laugh because it looks like this fish has seen some shit. 😂
The goblin shark's jaw is one of the WORST examples of _"Reach out and touch someone."_
Giant squid washing ashore is probably what inspired norwegian sailors to come up with the kraken.
All the old drawings of the Kraken show an Octopus not a squid.
That's nothing new my guy.
That’s a different casual geographic. The actual cause of krakens is whales helicopter dicking in the air.
@@Khajitxi I thought that's about the Loch Ness monster
@@Khajitxithat's lapras
What did the lil Octopus at the end do to those scientists for them to roast him THAT HARD. He’s just a lil guy with big eyes :(
The frilled shark has unironically been my favorite animal. Sure, their teeth are horrifying, but I love that dopey grin. They always look like they just walked into their own suprise birthday party.
"Gasp, is this for me? Oh this is truly a wonderful surprise!"
One thing I've learned from Casual Geographic is that there are no gods in the oceans. There's no way the power of Jesus goes that deep and creates these monstrosities.
There isn't any gods because the demons got the depths
There are no gods in general
If you think that Christianity doesn't believe God can create monsters, you don't know Christianity very well, my friend. God is the god of the puppy, the kitten, the scorpion, _and_ the anglerfish.
Ya, that's not what the Bible says
God (as in, Old Testament dude) is a total beast. Who else would flood the entire world, unleash 10 consecutive disasters bordering on impossibility in short order, conjure up fire storms and turn people into salt?
I’ve seen enough anime to know you don’t mess with sea cucumbers
Demon king Daimao has entered the chat😊
Somehow.... a giant Squid would fit in Subnautica 3 xD Yes, we already have squid-like Creatures in 2 Subnautica Games, but we dont have one that actually grabs you with tentacles.
I would always rather go to space than the deep sea. There will always be living horrors in the ocean, but there's always the possibility that there's nothing in space.
Quote Arthur C Clarke: There's 2 possibilities, either we are alone in the universe or we're not. Both are equally terrifying.
That would be a waste of time and an act of cowardness.
@@adrammelechthewroth6511Clearly you haven't seen how big a Great white actually is in person, or you do and I'm just here making a complete d*ck outta myself
@@d112consAlone? I prefer FIRST!
Id kill and die to get to space but since i cant ive settled with the ocean as a diver.
Yeah when they started talking about the Humboldt Squid, my first thought "Do not mess with the red squidward mafia"
I always love seeing people react to Casual Geographic, and I love seeing your reactions and takes on things. So when I saw that Alana reacting to Casual Geographic notificatiion, you know I dropped everything to watch it immediately. And you super delivered as always. I loved seeing your reactions to all of the weird and yucky deep sea creatures!
I really hope you react to his other videos! My personal favorite is his most recent video dedicated to the distinction between big cats and small cats!
Dude just unlocked a repressed memory for me with the Super Mario Galaxy ost. Thanks Super Mario Galaxy for fully realizing my fear of the ocean with the "DEEP MOUTH GALAXY" theme and the super realistic Jellyfish that appears once in the entire game for that sole purpose! 19:39 this guy would make a sick decal or paintjob though, what a prowler.
So... I've eaten sea cucumber once. I can only compare it to what I imagine chewing rubber bands is like. That meat was Tough, and flavorless. Biologists and our curiosity...
That is disgusting.
As a marine biologist, I welcome you to the ocean, where you can witness the freak show there. Except the googly eyed squid 😂
Well, about the hagfish ... you can say we Asians eat everything. Maybe one day we will make a roasted Xenomorph 😂
I mean, I've had frog and snail before, and they're delicious! It's just a question of how you cook it and present it...
How would you deal with the acid blood?
Uhhh car battery fluid to neutralize the PH?
How acid are they again.
@@StarboyXL9 well, I'd try first soaking the meat in a solution of woodash lye... Acid + Base = salt, acid+salt=pickle so you would end up with a sort of pickled meat, since you might not neutralize all the acid...
And then treat it like you would salt pork and soak it in fresh water before use
Just looked up the googly eyes squid and it's fucking adorable but also creepy at the same time it looks so uncanny it doesn't look real
The Giant Phantom Jellyfish looks hella scary but amazing!
It's pretty common knowledge but still crazy the fact that we know more about outer space than our own oceans.
20:52 Damn, Dr. Wily REALLY fell of the wagon, didn't he?
The humboldt squids are so badass. Borderline one of my favorite living cephalopods.
what if all underwater animals could breathe air and fly?
That would be terrifying, but thankfully a lot of them aren't adapted with constant sunlight exposure. Same with eyesight for deep dwellers
The resident ocean psychopath can technically do both. Dolphin breath air and jump out of water really high.
Then you'd have Pokemons
@@cloud8813 star vampires from Lovecraft or bloopers from Mario
Humanity would unite to destroy them.
The lizard fish reminds me all too much of the Skull Crawlers in Kong: Skull Island.
2:52 RIP headphone users. XD
It's a damn good alarm
Fnaf ahh scream
her mouth is twitching as she saw that picture
Fact Fiend actually has a video on spider crab.
According to crab hunters, the spider has the BEST crab meat on earth.
The deep sea can be so creative to produce the rarest species and scary beings.
Like that sad face fish that became a meme, yes the ugly blob that has a squidward nose and a sad face, it's a deep sea animal that can look normal it's natural habitat but a bad-looking being outside of it.
Why Alana scream like every white granma in every b-rated horror movie ever?
"The ocean is not THAT bad?"
*Screams the entire video*
Yes, yes indeed it isn't that bad, it's just worse.
This puts Creeps in the Deep on a whole new level and Spectrum of Terror
That last part with the scientists roasting the poor lil' thing was too funny xD
Having your foodpipe going through your brain is not a smart move.
"Are these actually scientists roasting him (the little squid)?"
Yes, those are the actual scientists of the EVNautilus crew, whose videos you can find here on TH-cam.
Btw, the male angler fish also dissolves it's head, becoming part of the female angler fish.
Fun Fact: The Hag fish is also called the Slime Eel. It can excrete up to 400 times its body weight in slime. That's roughly 5 gallons. It does this because the mucus it produces acts like a supercharged thickening agent. It reacts with the surrounding seawater and causes it to thicken faster than industrial Damp Rid. Remember to wear gloves!
For those who don't know....the hagfish is also called the Slime Eel
Omfg I’m sorry but the way your avatars ears perk up when you get freaked is ADORABLE
The scientists roastin the dumbo octopus will always be one of my fave marine biology videos. “Looks like some kid dropped their toy” 😂
Deep sea creatures are fascinating as all hell, I've always thought they were super rad
Same here my fellow monster. Same here.
Play barotrauma and have a blast
18:41 They take being together forever way to literal.
I love the big finned squid. It's just T-posing to assert dominance. I respect it.
In my book, if it's cool, it's cute also its hilarious how you got scared by the most smallest of stuff 😂
Casual Geographic and Roanoke Gaming share my exact fears why i never go into deep water. That migrating herd of jellyfish was more than enough for me in Corpus.
There are a lot of scary things down there but there's also the cute new Snailfish that has a face that is always going : 3
I don't honestly think we give the writers of Octonauts enough credit for taking real-world nightmare fuel and making it not only easy to digest for young kids, but entertaining for them as well.
telescopefish got that AWOOOGA!!! type face
Fun fact: Hagfishes are considered seafood delicacy amongst koreans, especially fisherman villages. They keep wiggling even when you chopped the bodies apart and roast them on open fire. But, food is food I guess
Dude mentioned it at the end of the hag bit.
Its all fun and games until that last squid hits the "Domain Expansion!"
this is the most loudest video i ever watch
I went ahead and dropped you a follow on Twitch because I genuinely want to see you react to more of Casual Geographic’s stuff
"It's not that bad" not even three minutes later: screaming
12:26 sea cucumbers are actually eaten, typically in fried rice.
12:22 Hag fish are capable of producing a boat load of slime - sometimes literally. If you were to drop one in a bucket of water - it would almost immediately turn completely the water into slime. Thats how much they produce. The truck crashed and spilled, the fish were most likely still alive so they'd be fresh still, and produced tons of slime as they freaked out. You're probably wondering why they have this ability, which is that the slime is a deterrent against predators in how its so thick it'd either overfill the predator's mouth and cause them to choke and/or it most likely tastes disgusting (the second one is very common adapted deterrent in nature, seen in the Monarch Butterfly or in the numerous plants we eat that have intense tastes to them such as peppers)
1:28 nice one Alana you mean Gawr Gura or rather her Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather hahahaha!
That last octopus didn't deserve that slander from the scientists
10/10 outro btw
I love how she's confused about the hagfish on the road... I believe that happened an hour from my house
The Humboldt squid and it's tactics are giving me ideas for a new subnautica mod... Hmmm.
Don't do it
There’s an episode of Primeval Alana might like, a dracosaur and a knight come from medival times to the present because the dracosaur came from the prehistoric to the knights and they wanted to kill the dragon, and that’s wheee dragon imagery came from.
Anglerfish length can vary from 2-18 cm (1-7 in), with a few types getting as large as 100 cm (39 in). So they are not huge, but they are not so small either.
Oarfish are horrifying, but totally friendly. The problem is that they're super rare, and only head to the surface during huge disasters, like undersea quakes and tsunamis. If you see one, something horrible is happening
2:48 the fact that the face capture picked up on that is hilarious!
Words "we're not talking about IT, we're talking about THEM" hit hard💀
"60 ft F*** You to the natural order" had me dying. 😂😂😂😂
When they said we explored more of space than our own sea, there is a reason.
Casual geographic makes really good videos, you should react to more of his stuff.
I caught a 5 foot long humbolt squid on a fishing pole while I was a commercial fisherman. It was easily the hardest fight of my life against a sea creature. Once it was on deck, its skin flashed from red to white and back repeatedly. It was scary as hell. Once we were able to kill it, i threw some on the grill and it was amazing!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who panicked at 22:20 and tried to tab back into the game I wasnt playing
Sometimes I would like to be an invertebrate from the depths and only worry that my species does not become extinct.
3:03 Okay, Five Nights at Freddy's, anime edition.
2:50 FNAF Jump scream moment lol.
Ngl the chimera looks pretty adorable 🥰
I don't know what kind of advantage I'd need to feel safe being way down there. I could have the ability to blow up everything around me and I'd still want someone with me in case i missed anything.
I could be bulletproof or in a waterproof tank and it wouldn't be enough for me to be sure that something isn't sneaking needles or laying eggs or god knows what else in me.
hell yeah glad to see alana weact to this creator. she dont want no smoke with him
There are a few recorded cases of the Humboldt Squids yoinking divers down. It’s horrific when you see the body cam.
Hagfish are actually the most primitive fish still in existence, they don't even have jaws. Also neither do the lampreys, the second place for most primitive fish still alive.
bro was getting BACKSHOTS at 12:50 ☠️😭
20:10 Yo, why that Lizard fish lookin' like fish version of a Skull Crawler.
I'm surprised one of the scientists didn't blurt out who's that Pokémon
Remember kids, if you aren't smart enough to become an astronaut, thrn you can be brave enough to become deep marine biologist:)
Type of person to be scared of something "ugly"
"Oh come on, it can't be that bad!"
Two minutes later: 2:50
The gulper/pelican eel will forever be my ocean paralysis demon.
I don't care how small the ones found are compared to a human, chances are there's one that can swallow a car out in the f-that part of the ocean.
20:08 *GAHHDAMMAAAAAT* *_I hate being a security guaaaarrrrrrdd!!!!!_* Third night, I fkd up. I quit. I'll see you fks at Popeyes. I'll give y'all biscuits, but I refuse to give you drinks.
The “red devil” squid actually does attack on more then a rare occasion
dont forget about the insanity space bloop sea fish.
It's alright Alana, people might still like you even after crossing the threshold of Hagfish Lane
All things age. Personality? That need not. That is the treasure.
The ocean is so large, and the Bigfin squid lives so deep that if they die, there's a hundred different reasons why they would never reach any shore.
The first images and recordings that showed up are literally the first documented sightings of it. And given just how deep they live, likely the only few sightings.
I like Beach and Ocean but I don't wanna swim deeper than 12 feet. 😂
Those corals they are beautiful to look at but I'll never wanna get close to em.
just for those interested we have swam with giant squids a few times, but it normally involves them coming up to surface level waters, the sudden drop in relative water pressure causes a damage to the squids structure normally killing them in hours. from what i know its believed this is done either before they would naturally die or due to ocean activity like a storm/other natural event pulling them to the surface levels. that really clear footage is about 10 years old now it was taken in japan, and a team did do a dive with them as it was literally do or dont activity, so they took it and we did learn a few things, like the hypothesis they are really slow movers expending to little to no energy seems to be correct.
The thing is we know more about outer space then we know about our own ocean
The good news about this is even if you somehow were deep underwater with all these scary and alien like monsters, you wouldn’t have to worry about them since your bones will just implode killing you in an instant so you won’t suffer or have to endure whatever pain the creatures can cause
Someone should make a video like this just with Vtubers. It would work.
Before it was fully discovered it had a different name, the kraken, giant squids are a cryptid that turned out to be real
....Ah, hag fish. Just reminded me of two occasions of eels entering the human body. Both from the front, below the belt. The local one even happened in the rice fields. F for that poor woman.
Frill sharks & chimeras are cool because its is borderline obsolete creatures living their best on a new world
Don't expect any sympathy from me. It's just one less human in the world to worry about.
11:00 Your a Foxgirl Alana, you won't eat corpses. You'll just feast on raw human livers until you become a 9 tailed fox 😊 At least the Koreans believe so. 😂
“Its like Godzilla fighting other monsters “ i was playin the Godzilla Minecraft DLC when i was watching it
13:00 That right there is a violation personally I wouldn't have it
