After 50 you should know within a year if you want to marry your significant other - really after 30. Once you know yourself, why waste time if marriage is your end goal? But also, don’t get married just to check off a box or because you think your time is up. It’s a huge commitment and it’s a lot harder to get out of than it is to get into.
Preach! That last sentence should be shouted from the rooftops for anyone who ever wants to get married!!! It’s a lot harder to get out of than it is to get into!
I can agree with you on over 50 but at 30 I would say I would say 2-3 years.

A man knows in 6 months if he wants to marry a woman. The fact that people wait for 2 or more years means they are entertaining the person until the one comes along.
I think so as well. Most everyone who discussed marriage in the future with me did so within six months.

All you need to about a person is done in 6 months if are really spending time with them. People get divorced for several reasons like cheating, money etc...If one person in a relationship wants to get married and the other person doesn't they should move on and NOT wait for them. It means they are not meat to be. There are lessons learned that makes them a better person for the relationship that ends in marriage. When people start using their intuition to navigate through life they will have a much better journey.
50 years young or older always take time to know the person even if it takes years
That’s what I’m thinking. Marriage is just as serious when your 50 as when your 20, and a divorce can be just as detrimental so take your time

Are you serious? Yes it does. By 50 I would hope you know exactly what you want as opposed to when you were 20.

I met my husband. We got engaged in 3 months. We got married by 6 months. We've been together almost 18 years. We have had 3 kids. Life has NOT been easy, and there have been times that we almost split up. But, short engagements and marriages are worth it. Why waste your time waiting around to be someone else's priority?
You can't put a time expectation or limit of when you should marry someone because a person is 50 or over. Yes, one may know what they want, but people who come into your life can still be deceptive even at 50. Take your time and enjoy life. If marriage happens it happens.

This is why men don't end up proposing. If you going into a relationship thinking that you require an engagement by a certain time, then you may just want to be married, and it doesn't matter who, which means that you're more in love with being with anyone, than someone special. That's so transparent, and you'll Stacy similar fake energy. Or if you're ready, test the waters and propose yourself. It's a lot of pressure to propose to someone. Just let it happen and don't be thirsty, and you'll find happiness.

Those over 50 can have more baggage/secrets so you need to be careful. Adrienne made a good point that some just want to be married. Each couple is different and some people have gotten married under 6 months regardless of age. I would be more cautious and marry for love and not just for companionship and convenience.
Or worse. The older women who want to get married just because they've never been married before. Getting married just to see what it's like is not a good enough reason to do it🙁
I am going to be 48, my guy just turned 37 and we've been together five years. Only in the last two years did we even begin the discussion of marriage. Neither of us want children, so the need to rush into something isn't there. We are happy, content, and if marriage is the end result, GREAT, but don't tell us we're wasting our time simply because we're on a different path than you and yours. To each as own.
I think it depends on the situation of if the person has kids or not. Especially if it's younger kids.
As long as you can. Make sure the person you're dating doesn't want to get married only because they want to enjoy your hard earned pension benefits. Some of these older men are just looking for a nurse and a purse.

I would say for those who have been through a lot to the point where they can weed out the fake bs… I would say up to ATLEAST 1 year ! Cuz at 50 you know what you want… you know if you want to be in a serious relationship whether that means having a partner with marriage involved or even just living together and being in a relationship ! A year minimum with a 2 year maximum I think is perfect
I mean... Them saying they wouldn't past the 1 year mark without being engaged is so crazy to me. It's like the minimum time to really check out your partner
Knowing what you want and knowing WHO the other person truly IS are very different and it takes a certain amount of time to LEARN that as you often meet ppl representatives in the beginning and their true colors don't come out until they are 'use' to you. Be lead by God if you know him and trust he won't lead you wrong. Discernment is real!

I think regular people a year is good. But for people with money, status, celebrity then I think 2 years is good. You have to check to see if the facade breaks, if they are putting up one, then you know to stay or cut and run.

By 50 people know exactly what they’re looking for and what they don’t want… no more than a year. But I don’t think women after 25 should wait longer than a year either.
