Exploring the Alpine Lakes of Sukhnai ( Warwan ): Navan-Sar & 2 Padati lakes & 1 unnamed lake
Team Pathfinders embarked on an exhilarating journey to explore four stunning alpine lakes near Sukhnai. Early on a Saturday morning, the team set off at 3:30 AM, traveling approximately 180 kilometers to reach their destination. Upon arrival in Sukhnai, without wasting any time, we began our hike towards the Padati lakes.
The journey started with a hike along the Padati Nala, a stream fed by the alpine lakes and nearby glaciers. As the team reached the Padati lakes, we were greeted by a mesmerizing sight: the lakes were partially frozen, and the sun shone brightly overhead. Despite the lack of trees for shade, the team managed to make the most of their time, absorbing the beauty of the serene environment.
After thoroughly exploring the two Padati lakes, the team ventured to cross the Padati Pass, which stands at an impressive altitude of 4300 meters above sea level. Once we crossed the pass, we discovered another beautiful yet unnamed alpine lake. We spent some time there, marveling at the pristine, untouched beauty of the lake, before descending to a nearby area ,we stayed at Dhoka. There,we were warmly welcomed by local nomads who provided us with hospitality and a place to rest for the night.
The next morning, the team set out to explore the fourth alpine lake, Navkan, situated in Purmandal Nala at an altitude of 4030 meters. The path to Navkan was notably steep, but the effort was well worth it. Upon reaching the lake, we were rewarded with breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding peaks. After spending some time soaking in the natural beauty, the team members split up. Some descended back to Sukhnai, while others continued their exploration towards Konnag near Sonasar Pass, a location that one of the members had visited the previous year.
The two-day adventure was an incredible experience, filled with the awe-inspiring beauty of alpine lakes and the warm hospitality of the people of Sukhnai. This exploration not only highlighted the pristine beauty of these alpine lakes but also emphasized the importance of preserving such untouched natural wonders. The memories and lessons from this trip will undoubtedly inspire Team Pathfinders in their future adventures.
