About Blur: Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Seven successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in 1997 and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, is the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Ballad of Darren (2023).

I blame Damon Albarn for my obsession with multicolored bead necklaces. First I shopped for them in thrift stores, then I bought my own beads. And now me, and all of my loved ones, are festooned with colorful necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Guess what everyone will receive at the holidays? 📿📿

I learned about Blur as a kid in the mid 90s. But I haven't noticed this song till this week, and I think the looping guitar riff and the start-stop structure is beatific and gorgeous. What a great discovery. Entered my top 5 Blur songs I believe.

An album I find myself going back to more than the others. Modern Life is Rubbish. It’s specisl in a way that Parklife is not. It’s seminal in a way that’s not clear. Damon and the boys are discovering that balance of petulant lad sonics with proper english societal normalcy. No stand out hits per say, but an array of great tunes that I absolutely love today. Chemical World, Star Shaped, Sunday Sunday, Popscene, For tomorrow, Advert, Colin Zeal, Coping and Turn it up are all fantastic tracks. Sometimes the things we find are the things we overlooked. This is an overlooked song on an overlooked album. Great work, lads.
This has been my favorite song since I was a kid, and I love it even more now. The washed out guitar, the lyrics, just everything. I doubt I will ever hear a better song in my life.

it's weird coz it looks like it's being sourced from something higher quality than what was previously available / the best of dvd.. but then fed through sharpening or something. it looks both objectively sharper and better quality but also looks really nasty at the same time.

Back when I was about 16 I had 'Modern Life is Rubbish'. It's the only Blur album I ever really liked. Nostalgia bought me here, having not heard this song in a very long time.
Will always be my fave Blur song. This whole album is great.
