- How to make a floral pocket square design
Ingredients - a mix of materials - we used small Santini chrysanths, gerbera, palm leaf, sedum, and ivy leaves.
A traditional buttonhole is a classic design for a male guest at a function, but the new kid on the block is the floral pocket square, replacing the handkerchief with floral design! It’s fun, it’s new and it’s actually easier for the man to wear as it has no pins or magnets!
Watch and see how we create this design - it’s not something we have made before, but it was fun and the possibilities are endless! It’s ideal for prom and in situations where you need to make a lot at once.
Let us know in the comment section below what flowers you would use or if you think this is better than the classic buttonhole.

So cute and creative.
WOW, new and interesting.
fantastic work
The traditional boutonniers have always been tricky for me to experiment with. Everything I learn is self-taught, but with your idea, I definitely see how this is more appealing for not only the look of the design but also for the ease of process for the designer. Can't wait to try it! Thank you for sharing your talents and ideas always! ❤️
@@_moonbell26_ thank you 😊 I think you will enjoy making this - and there are more options for a ‘look’ compared to a buttonhole
@@FlowerJoos many more! My mind flooded with countless flower combinations 😍 thank you!
Last summer in Australia for my wedding work I did a combination of these and buttonholes. Often jackets are not worn here by the bridal party because of the weather, so boutonnieres on vests and braces are good with the pocket squares for significant guests (grandparents, godparents etc) both men and women. Great video instruction as always 💐
@@talkinginpublic that is a good point - not only do men like to avoid a flower but also a jacket if they can - especially if the weather is hot!
A combination for people is good - so this could be a better version for significant guests 😊
Gorgeous! I hope I get to make one of these for a wedding--my son for one!
@@lynnemcnab3093 lol - does he know this? 😀
The6 are fun to make

Like this very much. Easier for everyone. Traditionally, Pins can be tricky balancing the weight also.
@@fivenine2 that is true! This works so well 😊
Omg my daughter is doing this for her wedding! Thanks so much for the how-to

Very Beautiful. 🥰👏🏻👏🏻Please do more videos about bouquet pocket. Greeting from Sydney Australia
@@mariacordero4561 thank you! Hello to you in Sydney! 😀
Hello, John! Very interesting. I have to say I've never come across a floral pocket square. In fact, many of the boutonnieres or buttonholes here are often comprised of more than one bloom today. I'll have to look into this. Thanks for the interesting video, Friend. Have a wonderful week!
@@stepps511 thank you! I had seen these and thought they were a bit of a gimmick, but actually they are a really good option and just something a little different.
Hope you are having a good week!
Fabulous! I much prefer these flower pockets to the traditional buttonhole.
@@michellevegangoodlife they are fun! And flowers should be fun as well 🌼
Absolutely beautiful! Love this idea😍
@@JessieMouse8 thank you so much 🤩
Here in Connecticut, I've never seen a floral pocket square at any of the weddings I've attended or created myself. I feel it's a better idea than the buttonhole because there are no pins and they won't fall off the jacket. Maybe a small bit of double sided tape in the back of the pocket square will also secure the pocket square.
@@user-vj3kj1yp6g that’s interesting - and a good idea for the little extra security as well! I wonder if these will take off and become the more popular version? 🤔
A glue-dash works perfect. Just instruct client to remove paper to expose sticky portion so it adheres and does not slide out of pocket, especially if using satin ribbon to cover cardboard.
@@bloomstix thank you!
WOW....VERY NICE ❤ ❤❤👌.

What a wonderful idea. Just ❤ it. I don't like having to pen on boutonniere. Enjoyed the video very much.

@@deannaharrell6803 😊 thank you! I think customers aren’t good at pinning on a buttonhole in general, so this is a good option instead.
I have made both buttonholes and pocket versions for family weddings and much prefer the easy construction of pocket squares. However, my experience proved the old adage that nothing emerges unscathed after the first hug. 😢 . Thanks for the tutorial, John!
As an American I’ve never done this before! Still doing traditional boutonnières and the like on the lapel, definitely interested in trying this method though!
@@boodledemic6430 I thought they were very popular for proms - these are easy and quick - the bases could be pre-made in advance as well.
I quite liked the silk flower one and the orchid one. I'm a fan of Singapore orchids. Another great presentation John.
@@irenedyrynda9084 thank you! I think the faux versions are a nice option and a keepsake as well.
I have an event coming up and I planned to do the pocket flowers. I am glad you did this video. Thank you.
@@arnezcoleman 😊 thank you! You will enjoy making it I think 😀
Good idea💖🌺beautiful 🌹
@@vesnamiloradovic2823 thank you! 😊
How long in advance can you prepare the fresh ones? I wondered if they would wilt?
@@elainemunson7076 I would treat these as you would any corsage - so the afternoon before or on the day is best, with well conditioned materials
Are you putting a natural flowers, with hot glue??
@@elidebreton4227 yes! You can use hot or cold glue - whichever you prefer.
Какой срок жизни этой бутоньерки? Цветочки без воды, всё таки.
@@user-tc8ed3yx8o it is the same as a normal buttonhole - I would make it on the day or the afternoon before .
это так же разумно, как и обычная петля - я бы сделала ее в тот же день или накануне вечером.
