    Listening to Dendi talk about Dota1 made me tear up. I started with Dota 2.17 map back then and i was like 15-16yrs old. My friends and i always played AoS(aeon of strife) then we found this map and it all began from there. We won many 3v3 tournaments on Garena back then since it was "THE" platform for dota1. Good old days 🥲. Stopped playing when HoN and LoL came out although Dota2 didn't spark that interest in me as to how Dota1 did.

      @quyzbuk86 Not really. It's just your fault you'r hoping right onto the himalaya (PVP). A game always has many sides. You start by taking baby steps, into steps on a street, not approaching the alpines right away, not jumping into deep water before you learn to swim. (ofc it has been done and can be done) But there are so many facettes of a game. (and every bit is exciting the first time) Who ever came up with "steep curve" is just a big *QQ.* Don't expect to be a prof, don't expect to be an expert, that's it. Have fun in different aspects, have fun being a newb! (I read this so often how ppl enjoyed being a newb again in a new game!...) Same as you don't expect to be a master in math when you start out. There is not just classes, and exams, ppl can have fun with math such as riddles, etc (...). Eventually the pvp game is like an exam, everything gets put to the test. Some are easier some are harder. Ultimately of course you do many tests, AKA job, AKA Versus mode. Obviously I don't mean it that strict, but it's to show you don't start from what you see on a pro-stream or livecast..... Instead you naturally explore, so again this isn't necessarily full 5v5 games vs humans... You can play vs bots you can try other stuff you can play vs several friends to get used to certain matchups which makes you familirized pretty quickly. It's actually a trick (to play vs friend) that worked wonders when we applied it to anything outside to dota (on top of dota), so i.e. which is even easier in 1v1 RTS...
      Last but not least: Don't expect to be capable to pulling off anything you see on stream or anywhere, just explore test what you can do find your own stuff, what works for you - on your level. i.e. many pro strats, tactics etc, involve many skill sets, such as teamplay, perception of anything going on, knowledge of enemy cd etc (...). This can carry to be more risky and getting away with it. However a newer player has more success with something not as fragile, or playing it safer in terms of stuff going on on the map...or not relying on milisecond timing with an ally (let alone a second or minute lol). Ultimately this is also the better learning experience as you do not die as often, because staying alive lets you learn more roughly said, however you will learn the limits - a funny example is the alpha star AI learning that its "improvement" of camping in the base in order to not die (good) limited it kinda. (actually fairly much)
      Games OFFER content, don't feel so damn obligated to know everything and reach everything from the get go. You don't need to reach every content! Some todolist videos in the internet about that are just not good IMO (you must do this and that and these and those - CLICKbaits)... Treat games as games(! that's what they are and are designed for afterall), and you get better over time, by having fun, besides your brain also learns much better with fun and enthusiasm. Feel the richness of games when you figure out new things and see new ways, even as a beginner. (Pro tip: Refering to the mentioned earlier: You don't do that by only expecting to be an expert right away and rock like what you see on a stream - Roughly said - and only feel pressured and thinking you suck - Roughly said -, no you don't, every step you improve, play what's interesting to you, what's fun - that's also the beauty) Fun fact: I don't think any nowadays pros started any game they rock in now with the goal of playing it professionally to earn money initially, ofc very few exceptions or just memes. Point is: Most got gud cause they had so much fun, and WANTED to play more, and More, and MOre. Naturally you begin to write down build orders, plans about team combinations, skill combos, and how to set up team fights properly vs problems you faced...and ofc... at SOme point this involves dedicated training! almost self explanatory. But everyone started small. And most did not look at the big mountain "oh damn that's big I never gonna do it!!!"-trash internet comments. Again they had fun and played and explored and got gud without even noticing.

    GJ @Grubby you did well. 1 advice however, its good to help your core secure kill on priority lane creeps such as the ranged creep or flag bearing creep. However, I would say that becareful when assuming the core wont/cant last hit a creep because in his mind he's/she's still going trying to last hit, whether he gets it or not, and you might be wasting his time/positioning or affecting his last hitting rhythm. It's a fine line between greifing and helping. Generally speaking, in laning phase (~first 10 minutes), as the support, always prioritize creep lane equilibrium, possibly stacking camps ahead, denying creeps, trading HP or killing enemy heroes, securing priority creeps over trying to last hit contested creeps while your core is there. ONLY if 100% certain he will not attempt to go for it that I'd say go for the last hit.

    Grubby those times when you felt like the enemy was spell immune but you didn't see BKB you were actually silenced, they had 3 silence spells this game. Mainly the smoke cloud from Riki will make you miss almost all auto attacks + be silenced as long as you remain inside the smoke cloud and also Death Prophet (the banshee) has a big aoe ground target silence that lasts for a couple of seconds. As well doom ultimate (that is also called Doom lol, is basically dooming the hero he puts it on, its single target and a long cooldown but it does a lot of dmg over time + silence + mute (you can't use items) you can only auto-attack and walk) :)

    • @jsr3299
      @jsr3299 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      a tip in a game like this when you're playing a support against a farmed riki that is hunting you, be already prepared to when you see his smoke cloud instantly glimmer cape yourself in anticipation for him blinkstriking on you (since he kills you so fast) and also pre-emtively drop a sentry as soon as a fight/skirmish breaks out unless you know riki is on the other side of the map or something. And like dendi (the absolute legend) said Aeon disk would've been great (its like auto proc dmg immunity but with long cooldown) also ghost scepter can make you ethereal = immune to physical dmg and its only 1500g

    Dendi was talking about "OpenAI Five" it won best out of 3 vs profissional Dota 2 players (team OG). the AI was playing differently than humans by letting all five heros farm which is very unusaly high level Dota 2 games, and playing very aggressively with a lot of rotations. (i could be wrong but i think their was some house-rules to playing vs openAI that included limits on some items, runes, and a lot of heros)

    Your first fight with death prophet, she had her ultimate Exorcism on, usually we run when she uses that unless you have burst damage.
    When you're running, try to sleep the enemy, buys you more time.
    As a support in the later stage of the game where you die fast, you want to learn to hide in fog of war when the enemy is near, and you only join the fight when needed. I think this game winning condition is you hiding and ulti riki. You can sleep the most annoying hero but most of the time you want to prioritize your fiend's grip as it's a long duration stun on kill potential.
    PS: back then when you have a match against moon, I would always cheer for you.

    edge case uses of smoke that dendi didn't touch on:
    * can be used to disjoint or avoid certain attacks or spells, assuming you're not within smoke break range of enemy heroes. e.g. if a ranged hero auto attacks you when you have 1 hp, you or your nearby ally can smoke to avoid the attack as long as you run away from enemies w/ projectile in flight. or if you guys just barely won a teamfight and everyone is 1hp, but the enemy team has a zeus who buys back to ult, you can smoke to avoid damage.
    * late game pushing or defending high ground during daytime vision, or in any team fight situation where you will be seen before you can properly initiate, and you don't have invis item, can be good to get a surprise invis initiation that isn't expected due to you not having invis items when enemies item check you.
    * purposely use smoke where enemy heroes will see the smoke effect and report it to their teammates, thereby making enemies predictably act like a gank is coming. situationally can be used to surprise enemies and set up ganks away from the fake smoke.
    * can be used for a very slight movement speed boost if you have a game-determining team fight happening that you need to get to asap.
    oftentimes not necessarily worth using a smoke in these situations, since you probably get better value out of using it in more traditional circumstances, but for example if you disjoint an attack that saves your carry player w/ smoke, then 100% worth.
