It's probably got regenerative braking. Given how quick it moves, makes me think that at least 1/4 of the bogies have got traction motors

Stadlers EMUs for caltrain are top notch in design but the horn It’s on its own because I don’t like the sound of it

If CalTrain wanted to it could order some AL45DP like New Jersey Transit and Exo Rail in Montreal for its Baby Bullet service. They can go on the wires and switch to diesel mode south of San Jose!!
