The intro riff is really Parkway Drivesque, I can't be the only one to hear it. It sounds exactly like the intro of "Sleepwalker" on Deepblue. I really enjoy the song btw. I grew to enjoy poppier vocals in metal if it's well used and it is in this case.

I saw this live on the Dance Gavin Dance tour before it officially came out. It was a whole ass vibe live. I really love that this song has a really well written pop chorus without sacrificing anything during the heavy parts. Lots of wild and interesting guitar parts.
Wow... The balance here is really nice. The pop melodies are perfectly contrasted by the dissonant filth at the end. And that Maiden riff really surprised me in the best way. It's like 3 eras perfectly in sync with one another. And that gallop at the end was dope. Thanks for turning me on to this! Gotta do it... Nightlife - New Low. Veil of Maya just can't put out a bad song. I like that this was a little bit different than their usual songs, but they still gave that signature veil of Maya sound at the end. Veil of Maya has to be my favorite metalcore band at this point. I missed them in concert this week due to work obligations, which I'll never forgive myself for.
Big agree that there's no cons to this song. If the chorus didn't catch you then I could see it not being a favorite but I'm hoping to hear some pop elements scattered through the album for sure
I went back and gave outsider a listen, I enjoyed their whole last album which feels like forever ago. Veil put so much into every track, top tier Metalcore always!
Love this band. I was at the Aragon in Chicago (their home town) for this show with DGD where this video was filmed. Great set by VOM just sucked that they were only allowed to play a 30min set. Digging the new song tho and I love how their sound keeps evolving.
In my opinion, this is the way to implement some heavy pop elements into metalcore. Compare this banger of a track to what wage war has done on their last two albums and you can see the right and wrong ways to do it. This song is so sick. Absolutely perfect blending of genres and they kept it interesting. Not cookie cutter song structure.

Idk but something about this song just doesn’t vibe with me, it seems a bit more generic sounding to me, I love this band always, Outsider and especially Viscera are so amazing. Guess I’m just really underwhelmed by this new track
This would just be another metalcore band if it wasn’t for Marc Okubo’s guitar riffs but it’s still not as interesting as the material pre Lukas. He’s a great vocalist but the shift in style is a bit too much of a change.
