Thank you Chris for using our products. If you or any of your viewers have questions, please let me know. I'd be happy to help.
One thing you can do Chris to build OIL pressure is to switch OFF the ignition and press the START button. The engine will crank, but there won't be any power sent to the coil. This means you don't need to disconnect the coil. Very well done review and great looking engine!

Great job, that saves a ton of headaches when troubleshooting these engines! I like how you braced it against a bench for more stability!

Yes, we did this to make sure the motor did not literally turn on the stand.

You could put out videos of starting motors on the bench every day and I would always click!

You are kidding right? I’ve been using a diy unit much like this but better for 35 years. You don’t need this crap. Build a better quality unit yourself.

I like mustie1's fuel tank, its simply welded to a pair of vice grips, supper handy for things like this.

Outboard boat motor tanks are great too, plus they have a primer bulb for bonus points.

This product is awesome and I will be getting this setup. I am not sure about cranking without the coil. I want it to start up quickly so the cam breaks in properly. I use dual springs and am not sure which way is better.

The outer color you mean? A very light coat of Rustoleum silver grill paint.

Yikes! I just saw this video now after ordering a transmission case for bellhousing. Last week i had only seen ur older video on how to use bellhouse for bench start so i thought that was the only way. The thought of power grinder was v scary tho

Just a reminder, you may need to buy a starter bushing for the zalex ring, depending on whether or not your starter needs a bushing to support the bendix.

Just wanted to add, anyone who has a more common V8 engine stand with the 4 arms, and doesn't yet own a VW engine yoke, Zalex also sells a full ring. The advantage of 2 arm VW engine yoke is you can split the case, when it's on the stand, which you shouldn't do with the normal V8 engine stand. Also with the common V8 stands, there may not be enough clearance to have the fly wheel, clutch and pressure plate installed, using the full ring will give you the extra space needed to keep them in place when working on the engine.

I wonder how hard it is to build a box with parts from autozone. Maybe it's worth the time and trouble to just buy this.

Bought this. Had issues with bushing size. Ordered 6v model, but my starter bushing was too big? Wouldn't turn over without starter support.

Yeah not sure man, I have both starters here and both went in without a problem.

    • @zalexindustries2968
      @zalexindustries2968 5 ปีที่แล้ว

It will still work. The autostick starter doesn't require the bushing block support. Just leave the aluminum block in the starter adapter and it will be fine.

@@zalexindustries2968 But you need to have the torque convertor installed on the drive plate and I doubt that the ring adapter will clear it.

They should make an adapter so you can put a 6v or a 12 v starter on the same mount.
