My father ignores the signs of a sore throat for an extended period of time. Eventually it was a bit painful to swallow. He went in and it was cancer. He had surgery but it came back with a vengeance. He was a non smoker. Didn’t drink soda. Exercised daily and ran marathons. No over processed foods or high sugars. Very healthy. Only live one year after diagnosed I will say he was a strong and respectful man and died with dignity and Grace. Miss him ❤
My husband had no symptoms for Lung Cancer Stage 4. He had a slight cough and his Doctor gave him Antibiotics and sent him for a Chest Xray. He got take straight away for a CT Scan. That was on the Thursday and on the Monday morning he got a call from his Doctor to tell him he had Lung Cancer stage 4 and there was nothing they could do for him. 😢 We went for a face to face talk with the Oncology nurse. He has had 3 Chemotherapy and Imutherapy infusions. He went for his CT Scans on Saturday to see if it has shrunk his tumours. We go for face to face again in two weeks to see if it has shrunk th tumours. If not they will continue the Imutherapy until they cn do no more. Our family are heartbroken 💔 😢 We have 4 daughter's and 5 Grandaughter's, such a shock to us all. I send my love to everyone who has found out they have found out they have any kind of Cancer. ❤🙏
A friend of mine almost died of throat cancer because his doctor ignored the symptoms and was giving him antibiotics for strep throat. After four months my friend demanded something be done. Needless to say the oncologist was furious. He wasn't a smoker either. What could have been a much easier treatment turned into months of chemo and radiation. Now he has a dry mouth and throat constantly and tinnitus. BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE. DEMAND TEST IF SOMETHING IS HAPPENING THAT SHOULDN'T BE.
I’m going through that right now. I’ve had a sore throat and ear pain for at least 2 weeks now, but it’s off and on. I told my husband my throat hurt again and so does my ear…I made a comment that I probably had throat cancer and we both kind of laughed it off like he thought I was being a hypochondriac. And I smoke. Maybe I should look into it??
My brother died in June because his doctor ignored a lump in his throat. My brother had had a small piece of the back of his tongue removed 8 months prior to my brother finding the lump in Nov. His doctor told him that he'll watch the lump and if it grows, then he'll send him for a scan.
I would agree, and my stance as a doctor is prevention over treatment. But the cost would just be an unmitigated disaster, and would do so much harm mentally to people bc most people have masses, cysts, lumps etc that turn out to be nothing but need biopsies and so much testing before confirming. This is why we’ve even stopped doing PSA testing so much. It was putting people through massive worry and testing for nothing. Nobody would be unable to see a doctor for years bc there is such an unbelievable shortage. You only have to work in a hospital in any capacity for a few shifts to see how unbelievably short we are. Everyone is leaving bc it’s so unfair and so short. It’s expected we will have barely any nurses by end 2025. Doctors, nurses and PCTS are leaving in droves. We are working w 1 nurse to 10 patients at times which is absolutely asinine and very very unsafe. In 2021, we were not allowed to be tested for COVID at my place of employment. So you could either not come to work and get points towards being fired, leaving the entire team pissed at you and pushing them further, leaving everyone short and ratios so unsafe- or you could come in and stay regardless of COVID status bc you could not be tested at work. That claim is just evidence of the lay person’s lack of understanding how desperate the medical system is already. People would be dying of cancer while sooo many were seen for incidental findings of no worry, and taking up CTs and MRIs that we already don’t have room for when patients truly need it. @@traciprovins3221this is a tough reality you are describing Traci. I appreciate your honesty and am grateful for your service. I’m also sorry it’s so hard on you and other medical professionals. ❤
@traciprovins3221 Someone always posts an opposing opinion to preventative scanning, and it's a cop out. I have a close relative who works in the medical field right now, and I know that doctors and nurses are leaving, but it's not because of the patients. It's because of the medical establishment and how poorly it's run. Yearly scanning as part of the annual exam would not overwhelm the health care system. What overwhelms the health care system is sick people who have no idea what's wrong with them and can't get imaging tests because doctors refuse to order them. So these sick people keep going to the emergency room and doctor's offices until they're so sick that someone finally orders imaging and now there's hundreds of thousands of dollars and more man-hours that have to be spent on Stage 3 and 4 cancers when when their diseases could have been caught and treated at stage 1 or 2. So to say, we're not going to offer imaging once a year or every 2 years to those who want it (some wouldn't want it) because we might actually find something is a lazy, inside-the-box perspective. It's playing God with peoples' lives.
🥼🩻Just a bit surprised it took your doctor a full 2 weeks to get back to you with results of scan. Good-the Radiologist looked at the full scan & not just neck/spine, tho! I’m happy for you!! Yes-we have to be our own advocates!! 🙏
It's weird how things happen. My friend was feeling fine and had a car accident and they scanned her kidney area as a precaution and found out she had major kidney problems requiring transplantation. She carried the transplant beeper and one day her parents car went into the shop to get repaired and would be gone for just a couple of days and the first night it was in the shop the transplant pager went off at11:45pm and she had been called into the hospital. Her parents had no car and they went to a neighbours house and were banging on the door and the neighbours thankfully lent them their car. She actually received a kidney and was on the operating table at4:30in the morning. If there had been no accident it's scary to think when and what symptoms she would have had.
To be irradiated periodically is not a good idea. A full body CT scan is the equivalent of 10 years of natural radioactivity. Received in 15 minutes. Periodically. An MRI would be better, because it doesn't use x-rays at all. But even then, doctors recommend not to do it when you have no symptoms, even if it's harmless. Why would you refuse a harmless full body scan that can detect cancer and other problems? Several doctors have explained why on TH-cam. For example, search for "WATCH this BEFORE You Get a Whole-Body MRI".
That happened with a friend of mine no symptoms. Went in for her annual exam and they felt a lump in her breast. While doing testing for that they did some blood work and it showed something with her kidney so then they did a kidney scan found out she had kidney cancer. They removed the kidney and she's been fine since and as far as the breast lump that was benign. Another story I read was where a woman had a head injury and when she went to the ER for that when they did the X-ray or whatever they found out she had a large brain tumor and she had no symptoms whatsoever.

I hear you! I had one symptom, I started losing weight, other than that I felt fine. They scanned my chest and found a tiny 3mm x 5mm spot, four weeks later it was 5mm x 8mm, that doesn't sound like much but it was a big change. Two weeks later they removed a lobe of my lungs, and while I am cancer free now I still regret picking my first cigarette. Sad that it took the removal of my right lung to make me quit smoking cigarettes, they are poison.
There are so many diseases that you have no symptoms. I had a fatty liver that went into cirrhosis, stage 4. Never drank. Found it when my platelets dropped on a blood test. Felt fine, no cure. Just take each day and try to enjoy it. I ‘m on 2000mg sodium a day, no processed foods. So far after two years I seem to be holding my own. Could turn instantly. I have lived so much longer than I thought. 😊. Hope you are feeling well.
I had an abdominal ct scan in 2022 Because I’d been having gut issues… fast forward to June 2023, went in with a little constipation when they palpitated my abdomen they felt a lump… ovarian cancer. Come to find out they never looked at the scans from 2022 and never told me they didn’t see them. Of course they are immune from any kind of responsibility.
My immune system has drastically channged for the worse! I know immune changes can lead to cancer! 2 drs refused to send me to an immunologist cuz i dont have an immune diagnosis! When i told the 2 different drs i wanted a referral to an immunologost to rule out any diagnosis! Both drs said quit being b a hypochondiac! Old peoples immune systems often change rapidly! So much for preventitive medicine!
Of medicine was worth it's salt, PET ot CT scans should be done, full body, every few years to see what's going on in your body. He was lucky, many with Pacreatic cancer, and many others, are not so lucky.
Prayers for all who are living with cancer. May you be healed and live a long life!!

My doctor found a mass on my kidney in virtually the same way, thank GOD it was benign 👍🙏
You are a good dresser!
Waited 2 wks for results!
Not cool.
I hope you feel as good as you look.
Archangel Rafael is the healer. Please pray and ask for his help healing you. It took my mother’s pain away. 😊
There are so many diseases that you
have no symptoms.
Wow..scary 😮
Cancer almost always presents as pain in the body.
What was the good news
I also had no symptoms of Breast cancer, regular mammogram picked up the tumor.
👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
I would rather not know tbh.
Should people get a periodic ct scan?
Uh, he had symptoms but he ignored them. The neck pain that he “assumed” to be arthritis was radiating pain from the throat cancer
They took 2 weeks to read the results and call him?
Was neck pain not a symptom???
2 weeks! It took them that long to call you?
Zero symptoms but you had severe arthritic pain lol 😂 thats a symptom
Of medicine was worth it's salt, PET ot CT scans should be done, full body, every few years to see what's going on in your body. He was lucky, many with Pacreatic cancer, and many others, are not so lucky.
