I actually traveled and came to Navi last month to stay as a guest. Rianne is doing a beautiful job and the fence problem was not so easy as it is off the grid living. She cannot simply install an electric fence. By the time I arrived her fence had been improved and no cows got in. I traveled a long way to visit and I plan to return some day because it was such a beautiful experience. We ate from the garden daily and slept so well in the tents with the fresh mountain air. Gong bath was 5⭐️. Only good things to share about this place!
@erinrenee2238 the string type electric fence with a solar energizer works well. And it can easily be taken down when necessary. It is a system used all over the world with great success.
Maybe one could be imported to that region if the current fix or future walls don’t work? We have many of the electric fences where I live but we didn’t see any in that region of Montenegro. It really was old world there, which was some of the beauty 🤍
Good morning 🌅, I am new to your homestead, I have had the same problem with cows coming across the river from my next door neighbour, destroying my garden, it’s nowhere near as good as yours, Mine is mainly just lawn as such, But now got hoof holes in the ground, Good luck with your experience I hope you can get the cows sorted out , from France.
I really look forward to following your adventures each time you share them thank you for sharing. To never give up on your dreams ever and to learn ‘new good’ from disappointment - those cows are like the slugs in mine and many other vegetable gardens in England this year- it’s heart breaking to see all your hardwork disappear over night. Your vision of calm and natural beauty is very calming and encouraging to all and will be soon enjoyed by many l am sure. Well done x
Hello the 4 of you. 1 Take a shepherd dog of good size. 2 Build a solid shelter to save your belongings from the elements. 3 A good wooden american type of fence with the surrounding wood will do the job. Keep going
Thanks for the great tips, we have a dog, a hunting one I think, he came totally starved and very scared 4 weeks ago. So we adopted him. And currently drawing a proper shed that I want to start to build coming weeks. First time working with Concrete and mortar….so pretty excited and a little daunting too. Plus great preparation for building the outer wall of the farm to table gardenz
Yesss we have considered it. We need to order it abroad and customs is a pain here, so we just started like this and understand from locals that electric fencing isn’t helping with sheep, wild boar and dear….and those we see regularly here too Probably also the reason why there is no market here for electric fencing.
@@Riannesstories agaisnt bears probably not but against everything else it works pretty nicely. And it will keep cows away when they get one or two shocks. 😅
Where will you store the tents and furnishings over the winter? Those of us who have lived on boats, in trailers/tents/ etc know how things that absorb moisture easily become musty and mildewy. Good luck!
Lived on boats (and tents) too, more then 7 years, we are now actually deciding on what to do, if we will do a winter Glamping experience or not. We have wood stoves in tents which helps with moisture in the tents, it will be an experiment and we will see what works and doesn’t. As CanvasCamp has a lot of experience, we have asked them for advice too. So it will be interesting
Yes definetly and option but not available here. I think because it isn’t effective with sheep, wild boar and dear. Next year I will expand the garden and this part will be a lot less about it produce and will just try and see. Up until now we only saw one electric fence
@@Riannesstories Actually, I had a garden in Greece with beehives. And in Greece they use electric fencing allover against bears... So.. actually it does help against bears too. 3 wires though alround, lowest 30cm high. Highest around 80 to 100cm high... It is an investment. But so is a garden an investment.
Who wonders with these fences? After first time cow visit you should have started setting up proper wire fencing, not expensive 10-20€/m), easy to do )your garden size in half a day), but ugly - that's the way it is to defeat nature....
Yesss would have done that, but it really ain’t common here at all. But we fortified it even more and no cows ever since. And we also have dear, sheep and wild boar to consider….they get passed the wired fence. And the cows are quite intelligent and extremely beautiful, so I do really like them wondering around, but not on my vegetables 😜
the fencing is your own fault, once mistake, twice neglegent, more just lazieness.can not run food on hit or miss basis for a business, sharpen up and get on top of things
Hard truth but truth nonetheless, I agree but they’re doing good considering! We all make mistakes and must learn but also celebrate the successes too 🤙
@@nemanjagradinac5419 totaly agree its lucky they can learn this lesson, with minimal damage to business. It is a learning process. The cows are extremely intelligent and find a different way consistently. But we fortified it even more and no cows here anymore. And doing a business is trail and error always! This is the problem such strong judgement when making mistake. It should be funny and laughed about, considered with kindness ans admiration for trying and to keep going. I believe the way we judge others says a lot about how we judge ourselves. But end of August and no cows in the garden anymore. And electric fencing isn’t common here at all. Most fences are like these trail and fail fences around here. Which I love and enjoy. Also almost no electric fencing here is I think because of the sheep, dear and wild boar who we need to keep at bay too….they get passed wire fencing. And a year ago my first little gardens got destroyed by the wild boar sticking their noses in it 🤣 And truth be told, I really like the cows wondering around. Just not in my vegetable garden. And if you ever had a business you know that when it is the first time you do it, and have no experience at all….it goes like this and a second mistake is definitely not negligent.

Thanks for the video Rianne!
Your welcome as always 🙏🙏🙏
The Cleopatra bath compost toilet is so interesting!
Yes right? When it is finished I will do a detailed tour also how number one and two works
Don't give up, just put a one line electric fence where the cows come from. Electric fencing for protection of crops is very common.
That's an excellent idea and so easy to implement and move as needed

Get some electric fencing. It is extremely effective. A German company called Horizont.
Thanks Paul great to see you here
halo Rianne gaan we nog ook zien dat jullie met de boot weg gaan daar hebben jullie zo veel werk in ge stopt
