I must have been about 8 or 9 years old when I saw Chaka Khan for the first time on Soul Train (it was most likely a rerun, it being 1981 or 82), performing Sweet Thing. I melted! It was my first childhood crush, and I couldn't take my eyes off of her. back then it was only luck to see her on T.V. again, but I always followed her music.
This was one of the very very few, possibly the only R&B flavored of the songs that were played on the Rock stations in those days! Great song. Great reaction!

My husband was in a band in the ‘90’s that was huge especially in Naptown🏎😁(Alligator Brothers🐊) and they nailed this song. They played lots of funk and soul from this era. I still wake up most mornings to my windows rattling from funky bass…Stevie Wonder, Chaka Kahn, The Brothers Johnson, the list goes on and on.😁 Loved the reaction (as always)!!! A standout track and a great collab, for sure. Killer band too, and a great arrangement. Many here mention Soul Train, but I first saw it on the Midnight Special, made sure I tuned in after being hooked on the radio. Pretty sure both of those would be "live" live, as opposed to at least in part synched to a recording. Video's not so clear from here, but the fade's one tell. Cheers, best always.
