Oneida makes great equipment. I installed one of their bigger systems in an industrial carpenter's shop for work. Including a 3 cubic yard collection bin, with rotating dump for a forklift. Handled both wood and composites with no problems running 6 hours a day. I didn't know they made smaller stuff for home use too. Looks good.
You are right but in my opinion a really solid dust collection system is one of the biggest quality of life improvements you can make for your woodworking. It is the most-used piece of equipment in your shop by a long shot. Everyone has different budgets of course but if you do have a decent budget and you are trying to decide where to allocate it then I would put this pretty high on the list.
And you missed the sponsor of the video, so this system didn't cost him a penny. :) When something's free, or you're getting paid on top for making a video about it, doesn't matter if it costs $1 or $1000000 I suppose.
I received my supercell and I am very happy. I setup my system with the 14 gallon bin, but I mounted it up 4 feet setting up system on my bench and then lifting it up to the hangers for the bracket. I then installed the bin but later removed the wheels on the bin. It is easy to remove clean and replace the bin plus the system is up and away giving me more room. When I need to service the filter I will loosen the bracket bolts and with help move the supercell to my bench. Love the supercell!
Drew, Just to thank you. I am installing a 4x8 CNC at the end of the month. Every Dust control system I have seen before you are mind-numbing. I called Oneida yesterday for a quote and we will settle up later today. The cost was way less than I thought it would be. Thanks again.

I bought one about three months ago. It replaced a Grizzly 2HP with a home made cyclone that I had for 25 years. I understand the points about expense. Here's my thoughts. First, it's made in America by American workers. That is important to me. Second, I have a small shop and this has a smaller foot print than my old DC and most competitive DC. How much space it takes is important to me. I'm a single operator, using one machine at a time. I don't need high volume like a multi person shop. I want high velocity- which this unit provides much. I have *much* less dust now from jointer, table saw top, router table top, backed end of planer. I'm very satisfied with it's dust collection capability. Less fine dust floats in the air- stuff doesn't get covered in dust now- and that means I'm breathing less dust. Expensive DC? Yes, but so is medical problems and allergies. Like the video, I connected a 20 foot 2 1/2 hose to the 4" hose which came with it. With standard shop vac accessories, this becomes a super shop vac for the shop and running the hose out to driveway to vacuum the car. I had the Grizzly for 26 years. Being 65, I expect to have this until I no longer do woodworking. Until then, I have a great DC system.
Just excellent! Great subtle humor along with useful information. Thank you for both, but mainly for the humor, it is so lacking these days. Well done sir!

@@rrmerlin3402 Hi. Sorry for the delayed response. I wanted to get some pictures of my set up but now I can't figure out how to share them here. Basically, I have a 5HP Gorilla Pro dust collector with 7" main trunk that reduces to a 4" duct with blast gate directly above my miter saw. From the blast gate I use Rockler 4" FlexForm hose (www.rockler.com/4-flexform-dust-collection-hose) down to the miter saw. I form the FlexForm hose so that the opening sits just behind the fence, as close to the cut line as it can go without interfering with the blade or slide motion. Combined with that, I have a separate dust extractor connected to the dust port of my miter saw (Kapex). Together, the dust collector and dust extractor collect everything that comes off the saw. Quite often, even the cut off pieces get sucked up into the dust collector. Originally I planned to build some sort of enclosure behind the saw to help contain the sawdust, but with this set up, especially the 5HP dust collector, I don't need the enclosure.
Great video for someone to use as a reference should they get one of these dust collectors. I've shied away from Oneida's big dust collectors after a bad experience with them a couple of years ago. Their Dust Deputy and a shop-vac are an absolute must have for any small shop. The outtakes are still worth a thumbs up on their own :)
I've had the Supercell for about a year now and I love it but there are a few things I'd like to see changed. 1) there needs to be a way to hold the drum down when your pulsing the system to clean the filter. There is so much suction it lifts the drum off the floor and slams it down. 2) The remote is terrible. I'm on my 2nd one and have to be within about 5ft for it to work. 3) The vac overheats and shuts down. I spoke with service and had to adjust the switch to remedy. It helped but still shuts down on occasion. 4) Oneida needs to have a longer 5 inch heavy duty hose available for between the vac and the collection drum. I mounted my Supercell above a bench with the drum under the bench and the hose they send was too short for what I was trying to do. I could not find a hose heavy duty enough to handle the negative pressure. It would just collapse them. Oneida does not sell a longer one in the 5 inch. 5) lastly... They need to put something in their literature about using smaller hoses. Yes... You can use a smaller hose to a domino or orbital sander but you need to have a Y somewhere that you can also leave open or it puts too much back pressure on the vac. I have a 4 inch to 2 inch Y so that I can leave one side of the Y open and I am never reducing below 3 total inches. Again.... I love the vac and it is a great solution. Fixing some of these issues would make it an unbeatable system.
1) Sounds like you mounted it too high on the wall? 2) Hmm, still on my first and never had an issue. I did notice that if it's sitting on something conductive that it won't work. I have to pick it up to use it. 3) Never once had this issue and I've run mine for hours at a time during long milling sessions 4) I agree. I needed to get something much longer 5) Yup, you're right. I had to do just that because when I hooked it direction up to my smaller tools, it sounded like it was going to take off like a rocket
I hope you ordered extra bulbs for the O CRAP light, you used several o craps during the installation.always look forward to your videosa and thought chickasaures rex was awesome.
Glad you’re enjoying your supercell - funny that mine didn’t have the awesome names for the parts in the instructions. they reminds me - i haven’t used the whammy bar in a while!
I just bought a used Jet Vortex but, as soon as it starts giving me trouble, I’m going to see into this unit ... my workspace isn’t very big 19x20 so that would be sufficient for me. Great video!
Hola! Boy that this SUCK 😂Cool to see that you made a drastic improvement in your shop dust collection system without having to install a complicated duct system. When you tested that large heap of shavings/dust in real time, that was extremely impressive. Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
Yup! The static pressure of this unit is unbelievable. The huge Laguna P-Flux collector has a static pressure of like 11. This guy is like 90-something! It can suck a basketball through a drinking straw!
Great video. Ive had mine since the beginning of the year. Love it. Only issue I have is the remote. Turns on ok but sometimes it wont turn off. Oneida sent a new remote and an electrical filter thingy. It’s better but still hit and miss. Any one else have this problem or is something in my shop causing interference ? One of the main reasons I bought this is because you don’t have to worry about letting it run for 10 minutes like you do with the other 5HP units. I turn it on, make a cut and turn it off. Oneida assured me this would not damage the motors.
Only times it doesn’t turn on or off is if the remote is sitting on a conductive surface. Once I pick it up off the surface and try again, it always works.
I kind of feel like I’ve been cheated on. As a “frugal by genetics” shop guy, I’m always watching how you McGyver things together in a way that I can, too...it’s kind of therapeutic, I suppose. Then, you put up a video and you’re pulling all of this NEW stuff out of unopened boxes...and it’s shiny and clean. I felt a kinship with you, but now I’m just confused...I don’t know what to feel. Just when I thought 2020 couldn’t throw anymore curves, Drew gets a sponsor, he doesn’t use a flathead screw, and he...sniff...discards all his homemade fittings. Go ahead and talk amongst yourselves...I’ll be curled up in the corner sobbing for a few minutes. I’m gonna miss the “old” Drew...
I mean... if it makes you feel better, some of his machines go from a 4” port, to a 2.5” hose, to a 4” hose.. instead of just running 4” and necking it down where needed for the 2.5” tools. ‘Cause even getting a $2500 he didn’t spring $50 for new fittings 🤣🤣. The frugal lives on my friend.
YouCanMakeThisToo There is some consolation in that, I suppose! I think I may be looking at this minor misstep on Drew’s part from the wrong angle. I should be grateful that I have a basement shop to go to and that I’m gathering my materials from the dumpsters in the subdivision under construction across the street rather than my neighbor’s dog house, unlike some people... Perspective is everything!
@@davidkendrick3158 I'm envious of all of you. The only place I have to do any of this woodworking stuff is in a little shed that is half full of bins from when we moved on one side, and after the few hours on the rare warm winter day, we uncovered the left side of the shed to discover the floor was sloped and needs to be torn out and replaced. Darned groundhog. What to do? I can't trap and relocate it because it is illegal, I can't shoot it because I live in a residential neighborhood, and I can't poison it because with an animal that large it would have enough poison to injure or kill any animal that scavenged the corpse (including pets). So spending $2,400 on a vacuum (although a real kick-butt vacuum) is nice, for the time being I'll have to stick with my shop vac. (sad face). And what is with the random flathead screw? I'm assuming he used one once and someone griped, so he made a point to keep using them in every video. I'm working my way through his videos, but I haven't seen anything to explain that random act yet. I just laugh each time imagining he is doing it to inflame some arrogant troll. :0)
@@Troy-Echo he inherited a whole bunch of flathead screws from a father (or grandfather) so it's kind of his way of moving their legacy forward, plus the added benefit of erking people lol
Given last time I did anything out of wood was over a month ago, because since then I've been painting my fence, as I do all this stuff after work - I came here for the outtakes.
Man, a Supercell is something I've wanted basically since they put them out, but man, that price tag. I'll have to stick with my upgraded Grizzly for the moment. Someday I'll be able to upgrade to something more efficient. Also, if you think it's snorting that junk fast through a 2.5" hose? Give it a shot with the 4" line before the reducer!
I absolutely love how when you're testing, the floor under your planer shavings is cleaner than the floor around it 😂😂😂 just goes to show, you don't know how much better it can be until it is
Looks to be a good, compact system, ideal for the smaller shop (like mine). I'm surprised you kept the 2 1/2" hose and that you are using it on so many what I would call "high volume" applications. The tools I have with 2 1/2" ports, I step up to 4" immediately. I'm using a SDD with a Delta 1 1/2 hp DC.
The smaller hose means I can have more of it in a coil which ultimately means I can reach around the entire shop with it. The other 4" hose is so rigid, it wouldn't allow for that.
@@FishersShop I attached a 20 foot 2 1/2 hose to the 4" hose that came with it. I connect standard shop vac accessories to the hos. With the long hoses I can sweep all the shop and tools. The supercell becomes a super shop vac!
A better system for sure but also a big driver surely was the sponsorship :-) Also we'd still like to know for sure that you are dumping the dust in your neighbors' yard ha ha
It really sucks. You probably need to get dust right expandable hose. It will make hose management a lot easier and cleaner. Also maybe better to change some bigger tools to 4in port so you are not restricting the 5HP you have.
Good god! $2,395? What did you get with that and what parts did you spend extra on? I assume it comes with a filter...but these days you never know. Definitely looks like a good system though. Hey Santa...
I am very interested in the Supercell. Could you say a few words about the noise levels? Noise is my only concern at this point. Otherwise seems like the perfect DC for a small shop.
Great job. I bought one and am ready to install. It's nice to know that it can be done with one person due to the bracket. Very good presentation on the video btw! Yeah It's expensive but worth it! One question. Do you find that you have to leave a blast gate open (in addition to the tool that you are using) due to the increased power of the system?
Thanks! Good question... yes. I purchased a Y-adapter and depending on what tool I'm using, I have to open the blast gate a little to reduce the suction power so I don't put unnecessary strain on the motors of the SuperCell.
Getting rid of that corrugated hose and running mostly smooth pipe would greatly help that system. Also, is that thing supposed to be reduced to a single 2" hose like that. I'm pretty sure it's not. If it's not, you're gonna put a lot of strain and extra heat on that motor.
Nicely done. What dust collection are you using for your sawstop? Also, is your router table a sawstop side table thingie or a Fisher- designed solution? Big fan of your work. You make things accessible for guys like me . 👍🏻
@@FishersShop Thanks for your quick reply. Presumably, the Rikon is working well given your shop environment. I’ll have to look into the Woodpecker extension. 🤓
This is all well and good but for those of us that do not have a sponsorship this thing is north of 2K....I think I'll just keep my little $50 unit and be happy.
Money vs lungs. Some time you might regret the decision. But if you can keep air flowing through your workshop to clear out the fine suspended dust, that's better than a great dust extractor recirculating the finest dust
@@Poundy This unit is not a replacement for a dusk mask. No unit is. It does cut down on the amount of dust floating around but mainly it just makes cleaning your shop easier. If you are doing anything that produces fine dust like sanding, you should still wear a mask.
Advantage: It works really well. Disadvantage: I would need to take out a mortgage to buy it. My $25 Home Depot Dust Separator connected to the shop vac works just fine, thank you.
This seems like a really spectacular upgrade for me but uh.. I really don't want to redo the absolutely enormous amount of 6" round HVAC ducting I'm using as hard lines in the shop. This would definitely turn them into.. 6" flat HVAC ducting.
Your poor neighbor he's gotta have the patience and tolerance of a Jedi knight in between stealing his decking for your lounge chair build to receiving your finest particles of sawdust. Oh and the dust collector looks like it does a good job. Your sense of humor always makes me chuckle and pity your neighbor both at the same time
Very nice! I'm wondering how long it will be before you replace some.of those 2.5" hoses with 4" ones, at least for tools like your jointer that have a 4" dust port. I found that made a pretty big difference on my jointer. But with the big motor on your new dust collector, maybe it won't matter. My system has an ancient 2.5 hp blower I got off Craigslist.
I don't think I can run 4" to the tools because the hose isn't flexible enough and the suction is so great that I can't use a more pliable hose or else it'll collapse due to the pressure. Overhead ducting is out because I have a shop gantry that restricts where I could run the pipe. My previous hose kept up with my jointer just fine so I think the new one will be sufficient.
@@FishersShop Nice! I'm pleasantly surprised that your old system kept up with the jointer. Is your shop gantry an overhead crane, or a camera mount? I'd _love_ to have a crane for moving heavy equipment.
You’ve had this system for a while. How is it working for you? I run a one man, full time furniture shop. I purchase all my rough kiln dried lumber directly from a saw. Recently working on a black walnut table using 50 bf and a desk using 30 bf of hard maple. How does the drum handle this type of load? Have you had any issues with the filter clogging on you? How does it work with smaller tools such as random orbital sanders and routers? Thank you in advance
Yes, it works phenomenally. If you're a full-time shop, I'd recommend getting the larger drum size though otherwise you'll be emptying it more often than you want to. I've never had to get a new filter either. I just keep using the reverse suction lever every so often and it cleans itself. The static pressure is so high on this unit that it works amazingly well no matter what you hook it up to. As an example, the static pressure of the big Laguna P-Flux is like 7. This Supercell is over 90! Basically, that means even if you choke it down, to hook it on smaller tools, it doesn't lose suction. In fact, I've had to install a Y-fitting in my 4" hose with a blast gate to nothing so that I can open it halfway to throttle back the suction when putting it on smaller tools (belt sander, strip sander, etc.) because the suction is so strong.
I know this is an older video -- but just curious about your take on the volume of the roll out dust bin. You went from approx 50gal to 14. Do you ever wish you had more, say the 30gal version?
Dave, that's actually one of the reasons I like it so much. I had a terrible time muscling that large barrel outside. I'd always be spilling all throughout the basement before I eve got outside! Sure, I have to empty more frequently, but it's super simple to do and there's no mess. I'll definitely take multiple one-handed light empties instead of 1 messy 2-handed heavy operation.
Now that you've been using it for awhile, do you feel like the 14 gallon capacity is sufficient? I see it doesn't cost much more for the 30 gallon, although it does make the system stand a bit taller which I guess could be a problem in some shops.
14gal is perfect for my shop. Sure, it would be nice to only have to empty it half as much, but if I went with the 30, the bags would be huge cumbersome for me to haul out into my woods. I prefer more frequent but easy trips with a smaller bag.
@@FishersShop Ok thanks for the feedback. I'm going to order one but I was waffling about the size. I do like the fact that the 14 gal unit has wheels for easier emptying. Really enjoy your videos - keep up the great content!
I was skeptical about the overall quality, then I saw the spring. Shut up and take my money!
🤣
I’m curious what kind of warranty they have on that spring... I’ve seen other dust collectors you only get 20-30k flicks before they wear out

WOW, that's an awesome system
I have dust deputy set up similar to your old one.
A most excellent and hilarious tutorial. I'm definitely considering one of these units now that I saw this video.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks!!
3) Never once had this issue and I've run mine for hours at a time during long milling sessions
4) I agree. I needed to get something much longer
5) Yup, you're right. I had to do just that because when I hooked it direction up to my smaller tools, it sounded like it was going to take off like a rocket
Socks are your (and our) friend :^)
Thanks for the vid!! It will make me look at Oneida for sure!
I just love these, "OH CRAP" videos. Little nuggets of wisdom. 👏✌️👍from 🇬🇧
Good for you! You deserve this for sure. Great channel!
Thanks!
Looks like a great system, Drew. I'll have to check it out. Glad to hear the "oh crap"s are back. Take care.

The profanity filter is strong in this one. Drew is clearly a mindful parent/adult.
Love you vids and humour. Please post more
I hope you ordered extra bulbs for the O CRAP light, you used several o craps during the installation.always look forward to your videosa and thought chickasaures rex was awesome.
That’s a slick system-congrats!
Thanks, Jason
Glad you’re enjoying your supercell - funny that mine didn’t have the awesome names for the parts in the instructions. they reminds me - i haven’t used the whammy bar in a while!
Haha... Oneida actually emailed me and said, jokingly, that they're gonna update their schematics with the new names.
@@FishersShop That would be awesome, maybe a good April fool's day joke - re-release all their schematics with "Fisher spec".
I just bought a used Jet Vortex but, as soon as it starts giving me trouble, I’m going to see into this unit ... my workspace isn’t very big 19x20 so that would be sufficient for me.
Great video!
Thanks Hector!
Thank you for this. This does look like the solutions I’ve been looking for. This was a great review / product feature.
You got my “like” for the exercise video at the end. Nice video overall.
Thanks Virgil
Pretty impressive system, dude! 😃
Congrats!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks!!
@@FishersShop 😂awesome!
Awesome Drew, a great small shop system. Now in 5 years when it makes it to Australia I can take a look at it ;)
That is a pretty amazing setup! Could you do one more test for me and see how well it works with the Flowbee...thanks!
Ooooo! Now there's an idea. Although the suction is so strong it would probably suck all the hair straight out of my scalp.
@@FishersShop On the plus side, you wouldn't have to worry about cutting your hair again.
Strobe Light flashes indicating it's a good idea to subscribe...
Aww crap, I'm already subscribed.
Fisher's Shop , ok thanks for the reply. My remote is always in my hand when I operate it. I’ll keep an eye on it.
Love the videos! And this looks like a great dust collection setup for a small shop like mine.
Your vid are not only informative and well done but hilarious. I want to be neighbors and have beers with you on the weekends lol
Love the humour, Reminds of the Beetles "Yellow Submarine"
Really impressive for something that really sucks.
Great video, I may look into this setup.
Perspective is everything!
and not one bit of unnecessary walnut!!!
Nice upgrade ! I like it .
Amazing product, just wish I had Oneida as a sponsor to float the $2500 unit into my workshop
I absolutely love how when you're testing, the floor under your planer shavings is cleaner than the floor around it 😂😂😂 just goes to show, you don't know how much better it can be until it is
Exactly!
Dude you've got me rollin!! Subbed up!:))
Welcome aboard!
A better system for sure but also a big driver surely was the sponsorship :-) Also we'd still like to know for sure that you are dumping the dust in your neighbors' yard ha ha
aahhh the spring!
You need to stop making me burst out in laughter at work
I need to issue a warning ⚠️ haha
Yes!!! I have a SuperCell. I love it. This video made my day.
The only thing extra I got was the "Clean Shop Kit" which included the gray hose and some vacuuming attachments. Everything else came with the unit.
Great video Drew, but I was hoping to see a dust collector that installed itself! Haha
Never again. 😂
I am very interested in the Supercell. Could you say a few words about the noise levels? Noise is my only concern at this point. Otherwise seems like the perfect DC for a small shop.
Well, it has 3 motors... so it's on the louder side of any other dust collectors I've experienced.
Fon-du night? Dump in neighbor's yard? Mr. Fisher you have officially made my stomach hurt!! - Ehud Tucson AZ US
Mission accomplished. :)
Great video Drew....the only thing that could have improved it was doing a stop motion version!!!
Oh brother! Not again! Haha
Nicely done. What dust collection are you using for your sawstop? Also, is your router table a sawstop side table thingie or a Fisher- designed solution?
Big fan of your work. You make things accessible for guys like me . 👍🏻
I use a dedicated Rikon floor unit for the table saw. The router extension is from Woodpeckers
@@FishersShop Thanks for your quick reply. Presumably, the Rikon is working well given your shop environment. I’ll have to look into the Woodpecker extension. 🤓
Cool video, that would be great in our shop!
Show off!!! 😂 That thing is amazing!!!
This is all well and good but for those of us that do not have a sponsorship this thing is north of 2K....I think I'll just keep my little $50 unit and be happy.
Yeah, I was thinking "If I had $2500 lying around, I'd probably spend it on something that makes dust, not collects it."
Money vs lungs. Some time you might regret the decision. But if you can keep air flowing through your workshop to clear out the fine suspended dust, that's better than a great dust extractor recirculating the finest dust
A quality mask will protect your lungs. Wild this unit will cut down on dust in the shop I’ll also cut down your bank account
6" flat HVAC ducting.
love the humour :-)
Your poor neighbor he's gotta have the patience and tolerance of a Jedi knight in between stealing his decking for your lounge chair build to receiving your finest particles of sawdust. Oh and the dust collector looks like it does a good job. Your sense of humor always makes me chuckle and pity your neighbor both at the same time
Hehe, thanks Randy
@@laurawerner It's for lighting and camera use. I made a video on it if you wanted to see it in action.
@@FishersShop I appreciate the feedback. How do you deal with the 80db in a small shop?
It's not that bad, actually. I usually have ear protection on anyway, but even when I don't, it's still tolerable.
@@FishersShop Thank you
I know this is an older video -- but just curious about your take on the volume of the roll out dust bin.
I'll definitely take multiple one-handed light empties instead of 1 messy 2-handed heavy operation.
another quality production :) cheers Mr O Crap ha
Thanks! :)
Your neighbor must loooove you. haha
I have had my eye on the Supercell. If it works for you, it will work for anyone! What kind of dog do you have?
He's a Malshi
Hmmm...at a $2,400 base price, I'm thinking my shop vac with the cobbled together dust separator will have to do for a while...maybe a long while...
