It wouldn't have happened it it weren't for the appendix agency the FMCSA pushing for all the policies of the ATA... #abolishFMCSA and Make Trucking Great Again!
I've turned down only one load in 3+ years. Today was my second. I got on the highway and immediately, Big Rigs were barreling in a Winter Storm Warning. Some were literally traveling up to 50% faster than the flow of traffic!! I was sick to my stomach. Each crazy man is a recipe for a pile up...just waiting to happen. I went home, shoveled my driveway and said thanks, but no thanks. My apologies, but I pass. I feel sorry for you veteran truckers have to watch your industry deteriorating before your eyes. Sad😢so sad. And deadly!!! 🙏 Pray for safer roads.
Been retired 30yrs from trucking for a year, still get chills down my spine to the tip of my ass watching scenes like this on TV and U-tube. God Bless all you active drivers, please slow down and get home in one piece.
Doesn’t matter what nationality you are people of all race, color, man, woman drive way to fast nowadays, saw a driver from Piggly Wiggly tailgating a car so bad it was ridiculous as they were both passing me I just backed off if something would’ve happened he wasn’t stopping that truck in time, how in the heck you got white out conditions and people are still hammered down like it’s 100 degrees in the shade makes no sense Smdh
I wait until the truck stops full after 12am Then I start driving if it’s snowing I usually do 40 miles or less nobody is on the highway except me and the snow plows. It sucks driving so slow but I get to where I need to be safely
Thanks for the update. Really appreciate the second part of the video too. The driver got out and looked behind his rig. I'm glad you showed this. There's no shame in checking your surroundings.
I drove west on 196 from Grand Rapids After Holland exits the “ lake effect snow storm was happening”. Reduced my speed stayed out of pack group driving let all those in a hurry drivers have the road Drivers refuse to slow down you let them pass you by then you’ll see them again jack knifed in the ditch
That does matter, why take a load when you see the storm coming in that area before accepting load. I never go to those areas and always keep up with weather once summer is over
Veteran driver of decades. I use to run the northwest no chains. These automatics are light fair weather trucks added to the scene this idiot generation if drivers i now refuse loads or wait. Like always I look ahead to the weather.
Recently I learned, apps you can view the weather along your trip's entire path. Lol. When it's slow, and you suddenly get a good load, it ain't your birthday. This industry ain't that generous. Punch your route into weather. Like me, 75% it's red, winter storm warning, severe thunderstorm, tornado,...I drove through tropical storm Hilary, I was behind Helene into Florida. I'm so excited to get a load and never look. Now I know better. My TN to FL behind Helene, another driver laughed at me saying he had watched that one on the board all day! Lol!! You'd think they're compassionate enough to put another .50 cents to a dollar on it for hazard pay???😢 I'm not worthy.
I Was just in that storm and people were driving well over the speed limit! I go under the by a lot but people just get mad at me and I tend to see them down the road by like 10 to 20 miles in the median or shoulder messed up!
Yeah I was up there a couple days ago after it had been snowing for several hours... prob 6" on the ground. Was doing no more than 55mph and I had turbans and pirates of the carribean passing me going no less than 70mph and swervin all over the place as usual. I decided to shut down and sneak out of michigan at night when the drivers that cant afford energy drinks are all asleep.
Why am I afraid to run on icey roads? IM NOT, Im afraid of these steering wheel holders killing ME. Do i carry chains? Yep, but if i need chains i park it. Chains are to get you OUT of trouble not get you In WORSE trouble
Appreciate the information & update Alex. So sad, especially when you see good drivers getting stopped at an accident scene well before hitting anyone, only to get whahoo-eeed from another driver who will claim that he shouldn't have been just sitting there. Sometimes you get stuck in this stuff & nothing you can do but sit. Hopefully everyone from the wreck survives.
This y agree when certain states shut down the interstate during a snowstorm. Every state should do it so this doesn’t happen. It’s better to be late a day or two than not to make it at all
Im a snowbird trucker. I like to run north in the summer and stay south in the winter. My truck and my trailer, that's to much to loose. I can drive in the mess but chose not to because of other people and the lack of communication on the CB. Sometimes, I even take 2 months off.
Just started studying for my CDP so I can get my CDL when I start school pretty soon. I’m kind of late to the party so to speak my dad, grandfather, uncle, two cousins and an ex-husband are all truck drivers I just chose to wait late in life and I know this world is going to hell in a handbasket for everybody. I’m still gonna give it a shot. I already do work in a man’s field so to speak anyways and I’m an introvert. I’m cool with being alone at all times so I’ll definitely work out good for me as long as I pass these test but honestly, I knew there was a lot to it, but I didn’t know there was this much. Also Definitely praying for all the drivers in the pile up. I haven’t been watching the news or the weather lately, so I didn’t know how bad it actually was.
This is why drivers need to run cb radios but I hear alot of drivers complaining about the base stations taking over ch 19 so let's get with these base stations and have them use there powerful radios to share info inside of talking shite or we run 15 or 17 like they use to in Northern CA Oregon
I don't know what it is about Michigan, but every time I'm driving in the state everyone in Michigan speeds and drives really really STOOOOOOOPID. I'm not surprised at all any time I hear about a pileup in that state.
Sometimes ya gotta say NO. Ya can't safely drive highway speed on snow-covered roads . The faster you go, the less traction you'll have. It's not worth the time to drive 20+ under the post for hours. Park and wait for the storm to pass and roads to be cleared. Tell your boss to F off if they insist you drive. A day off target is a lot better than weeks off if you crash.
I turned down a load today would have involved I-94 EB, then back through there West to Illinois! It hurt to give it up, but so glad I passed on it. Getting around that area on surface streets was very dicey. Trucks could go fast, and they did so. I'm sorry, guy, I know that big rig can plow through the slop like nobodys business, but use your brains!!! SLOW DOWN!!! There's a stopped police car with flashers marking a wrecker hook+towing in progress!!!...OMG, I give up. I'm parking it!!
I've only got 21 years OTR and just retired from it. I do not miss the snow at all. Every year there seems to be more accidents from inattentiveness from the rook drivers. Ole boy did a great job blindside backing, but if it were me I would have nosed in traffic and just backed beside the curb doing a 90 degree with all visibility.
The bumper on the guys grill has to be worth like $10K alone. Have to really know where and what you are doing if you be driving a rig that fancy and decked out😂😂 No pressure huh; that driver is thinking in his mind while he does all that.
It was just a matter of time, happens every year, Michigan should of been banning commercial vehicles from the interstate during lake effect snow events, but drivers also should be able to watch the changes on road conditions
I will pray for the truckers who were in the pileup due to the bad weather I will pray that they were not hurt due to the pileup I will pray for all the truckers on these bad roads that God will keep them safe so you all truckers can go home to your family and love ones thank you all truckers keeping the human race alive
I trained my nephew last year last , one of the first things I told him. If you don't feel safe in driving conditions Get the fuck out the road . No load ,No job is worth it.
🙏 for all the drivers....😢 The sad part is this happiness daily it doesn't have to be snow it could be fog, rain, too many young kids behind the tiller of an 18-wheeler with absolutely no experience whatsoever 90% of the 4-wheeler are too busy looking at their phone watching videos or sending messages instead of paying attention of What's going on around them... 1.3 million miles in the saddle 70 hours a week just over 4500 miles every 14 days east coast to the west coast back to the east coast just shy of 12000 miles a year I've seen it all just like every long Hall left lane outlaw running livestock or produce reading this.... message.. the last two years Four-wheelers out at night driving with no headlights on💩 4 🧠 truck driver doing u-turns on the interstate truck drivers broken down due to a blown tire or a brake chamber a car pulls up in front of them and backs into the front of the semi to make it look like the semi rear-ended the vehicle... The dumb F*cks cutting across four lanes to get off at their exit all 💩 let's not forget the F*cking idiots driving 140 mph in heavy stop and go rush hour traffic but when they literally lose their head from crashing into a semi-trailer stop on the freeway trying to get on or get off and on ramp they blame us the insurance companies and the corrupt lawyers come after us and our employer 1140 and the company that were hauling for
Lake front snow.I'm from that area that happens quite often. One hundred percent fear porn when it comes to the weather. If anything inexperience drivers.
Im not one to profile but it’s always the same group of truckers who will follow so close to you in mountain areas that you can’t even see the tractor, all you see is the trailer and this time of year is known to be icy and dangerous smh
Seems like every year that part of Michigan especially between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek huge pile of every year been like that every year all preventable drivers don't seem to have a comfort zone just drive on like they're a machine and I'll leave a way out the tailgate or it's just noticed I mean every day some semi driver 10 ft off my rear bumper most of them don't have any safety training of any kind also another safety hazard is that I'm seeing a lot more frequently truck drivers just parking anywhere they feel like it and then blaming it on the Eld bulshit need to pre-plan what's two backup plans in place sing way too much tractor trailers parked on the shoulder no triangles no warning devices no flashers on should not be allowed to park on the shoulder of the interstate at any time unless it's an emergency an emergency
Others are right. Pre check weather and routes. Take all necessary items to keep in your cabs. Again, no boo-hooing "I NEED A WRECKER. I'M FREEZING." We're suppose to be empathetic but, can't with all the lack of common sense out there. Plenty of stock on store shelves and back rooms. People aren't in dire needs. They can go to other stores for things also. IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR OR OTHERS LIVES.
Guarenteed one dumb ass hit his brakes too hard becuase he was following too close. Cant beleive how many fools i see off the road ever year becuase they do not know how to drive in the snow. Why dont they teach this in driving school?
Clickbait, as is all the content on this channel. Channel moderator earned a living from all channel views, likes & subscription. Nothing on this channel is useful or helpful to drivers OTR or local.
The foreigners simply dont know that driving too fast and tailgating are why these pileups happen. Stay away from clusters of trucks and other vehicles so you dont get caught up.
This is why i retired form trucking after 30 years on the road . ELD's and all the foreign drivers with no common sense have ruined this profession .
It wouldn't have happened it it weren't for the appendix agency the FMCSA pushing for all the policies of the ATA...

💯😖
The bad drivers and the crap pay... Wish I knew how to do something else for a living
Been retired 30yrs from trucking for a year, still get chills down my spine to the tip of my ass watching scenes like this on TV and U-tube. God Bless all you active drivers, please slow down and get home in one piece.
Flip flop battalion at work here.
and the white vulva mafia!
It's the flip flop Mafia man
😂
ran into same situation up in Canada last year, Ambassador bridge, 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ truckin ain't for everyone!
94 along Lake Michigan always gets slick as snot . Been that way for 60 years or so.
I wait until the truck stops full after 12am Then I start driving if it’s snowing I usually do 40 miles or less nobody is on the highway except me and the snow plows. It sucks driving so slow but I get to where I need to be safely
Same hear. Best time to drive is at night
Thanks for the update. Really appreciate the second part of the video too. The driver got out and looked behind his rig. I'm glad you showed this. There's no shame in checking your surroundings.
No shame!!!!
Truck has to be stick can't do it with automatic I hate automatics they suck for everything but sitting In traffic
That truck is nice and all, but that's too much unnecessary stress, that's a show truck, not a work truck.
I drove west on 196 from Grand Rapids
After Holland exits the “ lake effect snow storm was happening”.
Reduced my speed stayed out of pack group driving let all those in a hurry drivers have the road
Drivers refuse to slow down you let them pass you by then you’ll see them again jack knifed in the ditch
Praying for all those who were involved in these accidents here from mid Michigan 🙏
You can run up and down a road a million times too slow, but only once too fast.
This man shows a true sacrifice and dedication to a trade that keeps betraying the core of an industry made by blood and love. GOD BLESS ALL OF US
THIS IS WHY YOU ROUTE PLAN, LOOK AT WEATHER DAYS OUT, AND REFUSE LOADS! 🙏😔
That doesn't always matter. Stop it. You're ridiculous, smh silly comment
Are you a complete fool
Last two years I’ve steered away from snow driving
Just drove through snow in Illinois and Missouri
Many dont care about snow or ice .if the wheels aint turnin they aint earning.smh.sad many need to learn the hard way and risk there live
This is why you check the weather ahead of time useing apps on your phone
yeah
I watch a youtube channel called mac velocity hr does nation wide forecasting, i have a stryker cb and 511 apps for road conditions.
Recently I learned, apps you can view the weather along your trip's entire path.
Lol. When it's slow, and you suddenly get a good load, it ain't your birthday. This industry ain't that generous. Punch your route into weather. Rates aren't worth it
Prayers for all the Drivers stuck in all these mess .
You need CBs !!!!
I Was just in that storm and people were driving well over the speed limit! I go under the by a lot but people just get mad at me and I tend to see them down the road by like 10 to 20 miles in the median or shoulder messed up!

Because they run nose to tail and too damn fast!!! No CB usage anymore.
Yep. 1 loses it nobody can get stopped cause too close to each other
Yea I drove here earlier. Prayers up
FlipFlop don’t know snow.
Im a snowbird trucker. I like to run north in the summer and stay south in the winter. My truck and my trailer, that's to much to loose. I can drive in the mess but chose not to because of other people and the lack of communication on the CB. Sometimes, I even take 2 months off.
Welcome to ice trucker season.
Yess
was heading that way until i checked the weather. driver should always check weather condition an find the best route... or 511 best safe out here...
There were other pile ups on 90 over 2 days before over towards pa
Praying safe travels and sobriety over hiding behind addiction

Becouse flip flop mafia from canada, this is thier main road to us
Tailgating & Speeding.😢😮😅 & Flip Flops.😢😮😅
You would think those clowns from mother Russia would know about respecting weather
Many of these chain reaction accidents occur because big trucks dont have CBs during Whiteouts anymore
Looks like my hometown MIAMI!!!
27th Ave and 66 street .
Cutler Ridge for me
Idk about it being THE FIRST pile up. There was one in NY the day before and one in WY back in Nov.
