    Honestly I'm not one to comment on TH-cam videos, but as someone who has been playing League since 2013 and who fell in love with Arcane, it was a privilege to watch this video. Watching you take the time to research the character, her color palette, and just invest so much care into her figure really made me happy. To see someone show respect to something I hold dear and do it properly means a lot. Thanks so much for putting this out. I will definitely be sharing your post on Instagram. Looking forward to the well deserved 6k likes and the new Vi video.

    Avid 3d artist and painter here! It always drives me nuts when parts are divided with only size in mind instead of painting! I've had people say I go way overboard with parts splitting but I hate masking and love perfect lines between different colours. Your Powder turned out incredible, I love all the extra details you add like the glow effects.

    I think your hair painting technique really exemplifies the east/west blend your style of painting brings to a western style figure! It's delicate translucent at the tips to the chunkier color layers in the roots. It's obviously an American style figure but you can see your anime painting background in the details. It's really cool!
    And the wet effect in the eyes is really chef's kiss! It looks like she's got tears in her eyes and there's anger and grief there! It's fantastic

    I've been watching your channel for a good 3 maybe 4 years now, even got my mum watching you lol, but I very rarely comment on videos due to a weird form of anxiety around it, but Holy Heck this figure is insane, the amount of effort and detail you put in is incredible, even with the nightmare masking and hard to reach areas your skills shine through, I love the glow in the dark graffiti and her expression is fierce, I'm all ways so impressed by the detail you put in the faces and then I remember how small they really are and am even more impressed, you clearly love your work and take pride in what you do and I have the up most respect for you because of that, I'm sorry about what happened with your channel I can't even begin to imagine the stress that caused, but I truly believe your channel will take off again as you are not only a talented person you're also incredibly funny and just overall a pleasure to watch
    Sorry for such a long comment but I can't express how much I love your work, and can't wait to see what you do in the future

    Her Majesty Leona the Resin Queen has returned! This model is so gorgeous. I know of Jinx, but am not familiar with the franchise; Arcane/LoL, but have always loved her design. The end result looks fantastic. The reason I watch Leona, and not any other model painter is because of the care, the detail, the crazy amount of effort that Leona puts into her works. Plus, I love Sailor Moon, which is why I started watching in the first place.

    Amazing work as always! Most sculptors release 2 print files a month with 2 or 3 options per file. Cutting and creating joint locations is time consuming, and frankly, most hobbyist aren't nearly as good as you are at painting and cleanup work. Basically, most people don't care about how files are broken up so long as it'll fit on their print bed. Most sculptors are trying to reach a tight deadline and know that people, in general, don't care. It sucks for artist like you who put in a tremendous amount of work to make everything look perfect, but most people don't bother cleaning support points on their prints, much less print lines before they start painting. I 3D sculpt and paint figures, so I know the pain of trying to cut models and the pain of painting around things that should have been cut. A few people are like you, and want the file cut up for ease of cleaning and painting, but most people are more pissed off that they have to fill gaps and glue things together. It's a fine line to walk as a sculptor.

    6:25 There are some main reasons that come to my mind from my experience.
    1. UV resins have shrinkage factor. Different resins have different shrinkage. One might be 2%, while others might be 6 or 8%.
    2. Many 3d artists don't make holes a bit larger than the pegs. They need tolerance to work well, a reasonable amount is 0.2mm or more.
    3. Layer lines might also affect the size of the pegs and at these critical dimensions, size matters.
    4. Some printers need to be accurate with their screen size and might need a calibration, printing a certain dimension cube, measuring it with a caliper and post-correcting the XYZ dimensions in order to fine-tune it, being as precise as possible.
    I just found your channel, super useful info, even for an experienced 3d modeler. Thanks for sharing!

  • @keilemajik
    @keilemajik ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, Leona, you beautiful genius! I always think about the same thing when watching videos; we should learn from other hobbies to level up our own. I watch a lot of different types of hobby videos, and while my own work isn't perfect, I do learn a lot of varying techniques from a lot of different sources. Whether or not you do garage kits, doll customizing (whether it be bjd, vinyl, or other), model terrain, mini figure customizing, etc, you can and WILL always learn new and unexpected things for your own area of expertise. For example, when watching anyone make a base for a custom doll or figure, there is SO much you can learn and implement from model terrain hobbyists. It's the same thing for any area of expertise in life, like how the sciences can learn completely revolutionary techniques from wholly unexpected sources. Everyone should be learning new things all the time! If you plan on doing any more 3D printed figures in the future, I bet you could watch some 3D modelling videos to learn how to separate figures yourself before you even print so you can compensate for any areas that need it that the original modeler didn't do.
    I look forward to your new videos SO much! Definitely in my very top tier of hobbyists I watch. I love how much attention to detail to do. Perfectionism in crafting is so important to me with the videos I watch. :) Thank you for the amazing content!

    If you end up doing more Arcane figures in the future, I'd suggest looking for the official model renders/reference sheets or concept art for color reference. Character reference sheets, per industry standard, are done without lighting effects or shading, specifically for the purpose of color reference. Some of them even come with color Swatches! That being said, she came out great! I applaud you for doing the best you could with what you had! 👍

    Yo hago esculturas 3D y las aprendí a pintar mirando tu canal. A veces uno esculpe cosas que despues la impresora no puede replicar y simplemente las interpreta como "huecos" y al final uno dice: "bueno, el que lo pinta seguro lo puede arreglar" o en mi caso "cuando lo pinto lo arreglo" XD Mis arreglos son mas "rusticos" porque en mi querido pais olvidado de la gracia de Dios no se consiguen ninguna de esas herramientas tan bonitas y la importación no es una opción barata, ni legal aveces. El video que mostraste con los 100 tonos de piel, aca conseguís solo 2 y uno de ellos es "durazno" pero bueno, uno se va arreglando y aprendiendo para sortear los obstáculos para tener una linda piecita de anime uwu.

    It was interesting watching how you approached dealing with 3d prints and your concerns with how they're cut. I would say that your concerns are very valid.
    Here's a couple of tips from my research into 3d printing - - There's quite a bit of resin left on a print after printing. This does come off during cleaning, but it will accumulate on the blades inside the wash and cure stations. This can be alleviated by having a few containers with cleaning solution in them, and giving the pieces a few quick rinses before going into the wash and cure.
    Secondly, if you drop your prints into hot water before curing, better placed supports will just peel off without as many nubs or pits.
    Hopefully future projects will be easier for you.

      @Becca I see. But yeah, I pretty much love people like Leona paintings figures from shows and games. It's fun to watch. I've seen her playlist of the Sailor moon figures she did. I loved the old-school Sailor Moon shows and movies.

    Loved this figure, you did a great job!
    I feel like this just brought us nearer a feature where you paint a kit of a Winx fairy in their Enchantix form 🧐.
    I hope someday there will be a kit worthy of your time and handmanship!

    I don't know Jinx's character, I don't know anything about Arcane, but if you're working on it, regardless if what it is, I'm watching it! My own kits (yes, 2, because I'm a collector through and through and it's a two-set kit) just arrived and I'm so psyched to get started on getting started (get the supplies, paints, masking tape and glue, and, and, and...), all thanks to you!

    I’m not sure if it works with kits, but if you spray over with matte varnish or sealant after masking it may prevent bleeding under the mask. It works on a painting 2D stuff at least. 😅 love your work, Resin Queen!

It´s just so much fun watching you work and it´s also very educational, i never thought i would learn so much while watching XD Keep up the excellent work! Also, it would be super interesting to see you paint Ekko and Vi. The trio of figures would make an excellent group :D

    As someone who has been called a digital artist (I make CAD drawings of spaceships, I am an engineer damn it!) I can attest to our lot not splitting models up correctly for not just painting, but even printing. I think that if someone is making a digital model for sale they should print it, assemble it and paint it, if you can't then something is wrong. Yes, I am not the best painter in the world, far from it, but that just means that if I can paint it, then so can someone better than me. I do have a different way of thinking about parts than yourself as I also print my models and sell them, and whilst I am happy to rework a failed part, I would never want to sell that as the person who ordered it might have never made a GK before. So I will bin parts that could be made to work in skilled hands and reprint or remodel it until it does work.
    Your work is fantastic as always, I like your idea of filling 3D-printed parts with resin to make them easier to pin, but cost-wise that would make it about the same as just making the parts solid. There are other reasons to hollow parts such as weight causing miss prints or failures, so for now I will not be doing this but will be thinking of ways to design parts that give better grip, longer pegs, holes to fit pins etc. The tattoos look amazing, even if one did run, hard to tell those are decals made on a home printer.

    I'd like to point out that while you call Arcane "american animation", the whole show was designed and animated by Fortiche, which is a french studio located in Paris. Arcane is so beautiful because of Fortiche! So let's not forget to praise our french animators ❤

    • @Anako0
      @Anako0 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to comment on that, because french animation studios are not that well known compared to bug american studios. So having a french one pop up for such a studio with such a good animation, well I felt kinda sad that it was overlooked 8'D
      No hate on Leona, since Riot is american the mistake was easy (especially since well... She's not much into american animation from what I got in the video ^^)
