I love everything we've seen from Mathurin. He's played 1&1/2 season's coming into this year. His shot/D/vison have all improved. One of the most underrated thing's. Is his ability to catch timely rebounds off misses. He doesn't give up on plays and runs in for the Rebound. He hustles, has tenacity and attacks. His energy is contagious and his mindset is what has made the best player's in the history of basketball. The stronger your will, your confidence and determination. The better the player and Benedict has all of those thing's. I couldn't be happier to see the Pacers with this kind of player. That's everything we've been missing over the year's, for awhile now. I hope to see him keep on improving and taking our team to new heights. 💯🙌 Let's Go Pacers!!!
I agree he’s been sensational offensively especially. He’s learning on defense. If you subscribe to basketball, she wrote by Caitlin Cooper about pacers you’ll see that she can outline things that the coaches see in terms of defensive misses which he’s had many still. Some really bewildering, but at the same time he recovers better this year. If he cleans up his defense to just be averagequestion he is an important part of our team for the long-haul.
@ honestly me to! That’s who we should have build around but if Rick make the right move and keep him in starting and give him that same green light Ty got than it’s up hill from here on out.
Mathurin played some of the best defense I've ever seen him play as well. Shot over 70% in all field goal percentages. Better passing IQ than he normally plays with. His focus was superb. If we start seeing more games like this for Mathurin, the Pacers have a very bright future.
I think the defense was mostly due to Walker. He was quick to help when Mathurin was beat on cuts/drives allowing Mathurin to recover to Walker's assignment. It really covered up his biggest defensive issue.
@@crambo765 I think that's mostly do to a better understanding of the offense but it's definitely been better. There was a possession in either last night's game or the one before where he took a dribble backwards to start his normal 1 on 1 move and then realized it wasn't the right time so swung it and set the screen and got it right back for an easier shot. He wouldn't have recognized that even last year so strong growth from him.
This season is shaping up to be a lot like the last one. What is going on with this team? Who knows? Just buckle up and enjoy and the ride. But, please, guys... Don't make me feel embarrassed to be a Pacers fan again, like that game in Charlotte.
The overall effort was nice to see, the team D and Offensive tenacity! That's everything we've been missing. Haliburton has needed a guy like Mathurin in the staring 5. It sucks it's taken injuries to get Mathurin and Walker minutes.. But this is what I've been asking for.. and it's obvious that this is the way to go. Mathurin is already an All-Star type of player. He's only going to keep on improving. He has the body type and tenacity to become a great defender as well.. and will surpass Nembhard easily on Defense. I think last year he was trying to find himself in the Offense. So now that he's settling in. He's going to become a monster on both ends of the floor. The sky is the limit for Benedict Mathurin. I absolutely love the kid and he's my favorite player and Hali of course. Despite his struggles lately, we know who Hali is. It's obvious he's been dealing with back issues. I pray it's nothing serious. I think if he could have focused on strengthening his core during the off-season. Instead of the Olympics, rehabbing injuries. He would have been much better to start the season. He needed to take some time off as well.. Hopefully once guy's get back healthy. The strain to play so much early can be lifted a bit for Hali. We need him to get better asap. I was so happy to see them get this win. I needed to see this from them to keep my faith after the CHA loss. You can tell who they get up for and who they don't. CHA is becoming a legit threat though and they have a solid core group. I guess Hali wasn't feeling too good that day.. But LaMelo is also a tough matchup as well. He's playing outside his mind right now. Like Hali was to start last season. We need player's to stay aggressive and attack the basket. That helps open the floor for Haliburton and helps him slash/create passes. Which can allow him to play his best basketball. Breaks team's down and wears player's out. They have to worry about everyone and keeps the defense scrambling. We need solid effort from everyone and guy's to step into roles that bring out the best in each player. Set screens/ghost screens for eachother. Learn eachothers spots and develop solid plans of attack. I'd have each individual player get together with everyone over time. Have them learn eachother and practice a couple signature plays with each one. So they can develop chemistry and understand what helps each player to score.. their favorite spots, etc. If Jarace was to find himself now. We get him going alongside Mathurin.. and he can tap into that Defensive timing that helped make him such a solid prospect in college. This team could resurrect themselves. That's all they've needed is guy's to step up and find themselves a solid role within the team. He's going to need minutes to do so. I hope he can take advantage while everyone is out. I can see him slowly beginning to get a lot more comfortable. It shows promise, seeing him getting these timely blocks when he has and hitting shots. It's much harder to play Defense in the NBA, once he adjusts. We should begin to see a lot more of Jarace's qualities as a player on both ends. If I were the Pacers I'd have him work on his footwork a bit more. Staying light on his feet and explosiveness. Since NBA is much tougher, he needs quickness to keep up with faster players. He's gotten a lot better all around since last year already. I hope he can become a beast for the Pacers, he's a hard worker and I like Walker.
I don’t care what anyone says Nembhard is not a good defender. He doesn’t challenge any shots he lets his man get anywhere they want, is to slow to guard quick guys. Brunson exposed Nembhard. Nesmith is the 5th starter I want Nembhard gone. Just like Sheppard, I like Sheppard but he should never play over Walker. Sheppard and Nembhard are a dime a dozen. The pacers need to trade Nembhard while he has value. I don’t believe he is injured at all. I believe he is what he is and the pacers are worried about his trade value since a scrub like Nembhard will be getting paid 20 mill next year
Since Mathurin got drafted I thought he could be a 20+ point a night all star nice to see this from him. We really missed him in the playoffs as an isolation bucket when we needed it.
As long as Siakam is pulling from 3 and hitting, playing D and rebounding. I have no complaints. Because I know what he can do from Midrange and inside.
We were attacking mismatches well. Turner could of had 30 put missed a couple in the paint. Jarace block on brunson was beautiful. Made my girl say wow
Mathurin looks good at the moment. I'm not going to just forget that he scored 20 a game for a while as a rookie and then disappeared. The D and passing look better but i still worry that shot is going to go away like it did then. I am pretty sure he shot 42% from 3 the first 25 games or somrthing then 25% the rest of the way. Need to see this be consistent before I trust it, but we need it now. Also Haliburton, some of those cuts to the bench didnt look good. Wincing in pain and all the pads and stuff hes messing with. If we ever get healthy I hope he gets some time to sit.
I agree. If they can play Hali Mathurin Siakam Giannis Turner. No one is stopping this team. They should keep walker and Tj. Everyone else is not crucial.
I worry Giannis isn't a great team guy. Some of the stuff Dame has said makes me think he's a bit of a diva, worries me about fitting in. I think we would have to give up too much for him also.

I've been saying this for a year. Mathurin is our best player. Mark my words.
Factz🤧
i’ve been saying since we drafted he has a chance to be our best player

I’m no Tony East at maths. But I’m pretty sure 0 + 00 = W.
That's probably good enough to get you on TV if you put it on a folded up cardboard sign at a game.

Hey Toni whats up with the Javale Mcgee stuff or a backup center?? I havent heard anything lately. Looking for a move!

Trade for Giannis, but don't give up Mathurin.
If Giannis is going anywhere he's going to a large market team.
