...One of THE most forgotten tunes of 1983 / 1984, that rode the wave of the "Breakdancing" phenomenon; It peaked at #8 on the Pop charts, and actually was released BEFORE "Breakin' (There's No Stoppin' Us)", the Top 10 hit from Ollie & Jerry! ...It almost bombed, until the Movie "Breakin'" gave it a 2nd wind...here's the Top 10, June, 1984....(cont.) 10. Jump (For My Love) - Pointer Sisters 9. Self - Control - Laura Branigan 8. ***Breakdance*** - Irene Cara 7. Hello - Lionel Richie 6. The Heart Of Rock N' Roll - Huey Lewis & The News 5. Sister Christian - Night Ranger 4. The Reflex (7" remix) - Duran Duran 3. Oh Sherrie - Steve Perry 2. Let's Hear It For The Boy - Deniece Williams 1. Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper ...a true, honest, RARE talent....I still play this 'extended' version, and prefer it better than the Jellybean 12" remix....RIP, Lady Irene, we NOW know you'll, '..live forever....' ....
Forgot about this tune . 53 now but the start of the song makes me want to go back to the 80s and start popping again . Probably put my back out now !!!!!!
I enjoy dancing at this club where I live. But the DJ always play the " familiar, very popular 80's tunes". If I were a DJ, this would be definitely in my playlist..There are tons of great 80 s danceable tracks!!!!
Their dancing may have been cheesy, but at least they was in great enough shape to do it. These days 90 % of America couldn't do the first move without needing Oxygen on stand by.
@@DrewTrouw Thanks. First time someone has commented about it 😁. I love Icehouse, INXS, Pat Benatar & New Order. Plus plenty more. I've seen Icehouse live twice and hands down, best show ever!!
I thought it was the same as the 12" remix included on the newer version of What A Feelin', but now on hearing this, is definitely different, so is the version that's on the 12" vinyl? (Which I have, but am too lazy to get out and play, but checked a the running time on the vinyl states 5:24 & b side ext dubb is 4:24). The version on the What A Feelin' CD says 5:28, yet this is 5:59. So how many versions are there?!!
RIP Irene. You left the world way too soon.
This should have been a huge hit for her. May she rest in peace.
