For those that do not have an NVG 30 yet I highly suggest the NVG 50 as first buy budget digital night vision. You can check out the product below at goodnitegearshop.com/
    Cupon code KyzoFox7420

NVG50 is no upgrade for NVG30 owner like myself. I was hoping they would add standby mode and focusable IR for long range. Skipping NVG50.

@@malin7919 I don't blame you, as an nvg30 owner myself it's not much of an upgrade. But to be honest, from my long time and constant use of the NVG50. Me personally. I would get the nvg50 to add to my collection, since I share my nvg30 with my partner. Overall the rest of the device is actually better electronic wise
I would suggest nvg30 owners to keep there nvg until there is a big difference next generation

I've heard some complaints about the battery pack being on top of the device. Does that make it difficult to mount and be at eye level on a helmet?

I wouldve purchased this if only it had an 18650 battery because 18650 is very common and have a good capacity. I think you had issues with your NVG30's battery performance because the NVG30's stock 18650 battery is low capacity and I bet if you try to feel the NVG30's battery weight, Im pretty sure its lighter compared to a good quality battery.

Yup, these devices are not true night vision, they do not amplify light. There are just like your phone cameras but they of course have the IR light source to help see in total darkness. Your phone camera would most likely see just as good with a good IR light source.
