The McNuggets rant sounded like something a homeless guy would start telling you without asking for any change.
it was a rant without actually making a single point and it caused brain pain

Can confirm, I work in an ER, and this is what it sounds like.
I understand what he was trying to say. It's the following:
Right now, we (or North Americans at least?) look at chicken mcnuggets and see them as just as 'normal' as any other food. Even though they are so disgustingly slopped out as a paste and cooked into a vaguely chicken-like consistency, we look at them like they're normal. Which means at some point in the past, these McNuggets came out, and everyone looked at the idea of eating extruded chicken-based paste, and thought... "Hell yes! Let's make THAT a cultural staple!" And it worked! Why the fuck don't more of us think of how weirdly dystopian a McNugget looks? What was happening in society back then that made such awful food so popular? Do we know? Is it really just that the marketing was so good?
Charborg is the alien that Jerma says would have their mind blown by seeing a photograph and the mcnugget rant proves it

I’m pretty sure he’s just being taken aback by how MacDonalds marketed the nugget as this brand new thing to the point you now associate the nugget with the macnugget and as such with macdonalds
I wish we could have an adult conversation about the origins of Mcnuggets.

I think what Charborg was trying to say about the mcnugget is that its weird for a food to come out with a brand name version of something that already existed. like you can order chicken nuggets at any restraunt but only mcdonalds has the "mcnugget". obviously thats something thats become more common over time but his point is that it would probably be strange if you were a dude in the 60s and this new restaurant that is run by a clown pops up all over the country and insists you say "Mc" in front of all their food items. Obviously The mcburger isn't a real thing, but its meant to be an allegory for modern folks to understand how alien it would sound to someone back then being introduced the "mcnugget" for the first time
yeah, especially with how so many people just generally refer to nuggets as mcnuggets when they might just be buying frozen nuggets at the store or something. like tying the branding to your memory to make you passively think and maybe crave mcdonalds? subliminal advertising is a thing right?

@@blanide_ I’ve literally never heard someone refer to general nuggets as McNuggets in my entire life. I can’t even conceive of someone doing that, have you actually seen that? Kleenex, sure, Band-aid, definitely, but McNuggets are only ever McNuggets at McDonald’s in my experience

According to McDonald's, the nuggets come in four shapes: the bell, the bow-tie, the ball and the boot. The reason for the four different shapes is to ensure consistent cooking times for food safety. Four shapes were chosen because McDonalds states "The 4 shapes we make Chicken McNuggets in was the perfect equilibrium of dipability and fun. 3 would’ve been too few. 5 would’ve been, like, wacky."

I’ve always called the boot “indiana” because it just looks like indiana, which is where I’m from. Growing up I’d eat the Indianas first and the circle ones last, because they were superior.
As a McDonald’s employee, this is accurate to the workplace. Also, that beginning gave me a darned stroke.
When Charborg starts off his video with a Jerma style rant about chicken nuggets you know it's going to be an interesting video.

The problem is that he made two different points and barely explained either on top of him not distinguishing the two points. One of his points is also not a valid point.

re: mcnuggets i think he was referencing the fact that they are cut into 4 specific shapes, they arent just random blobs of chicken, so when they came out with their silly little name and their silly little shapes people woulda been like damn whats that all about

When McDonald’s was originally founded, it didn’t sell McNuggets. Out in the wild actual chicken nuggets existed, but McDonald’s made a “McNugget” and that shit popped off because it came in 4 different shapes and was extremely cheap.
Charborg is talking about how people must have felt when they first introduced it. (Not saying it’s the same) but think of pink sauce and how people made fun of it for just existing, but now it’s sold at Walmart.
That happens all the time, something that at first is strange and new then ends up becoming part of everyday life.
I feel like the experience of anyone trying or hearing of mcnuggets for the first time is like anyone else ever, which is indifference. We love you charred baby.

The actual name was originally called a Chicken Crispe, the the man who invented it in the 1950s.
But by calling them a Nugget, like "a gold Nugget" or a "Nugget of Chicken"...
They marketed a new term for an existing food, and now, people call all chicken tenders "nuggets"...this linking the culture of the food...back to McDonalds.
Think if someone called a cheese burger, as MeatyCheese Wallet.
Then you go to every burger ever and call it a Wallet instead, cause the cheese is the money...and it slides between the burgers.
The company that popularized the Cheese Wallet slang, would get all the credit...for every cheese burger forever... Without inventing anything.
