In my home brew chapter, they have surrendered their Terminator suits in exchange for more Centurions which almost outfits two entire companies worth of Astartes. The reason being they could field more of them, and the ease of repair and maintenance compared to Terminators meant that more of them could be deployed more often.
I'm a supporter and enjoyer of homebrew myself so i need to ask , as far as i know these suits have machine spirits wich seriously damage their operator's psyche. How does your chapter deal with this? Do you have a hidden company of marines who have all gone mad after decades of combating the machine spirits or do you have zen masters who actually manage to keep their sanity after such decades? I hope i don't sound *inquisitive*
@@OljeiKhan 👀 nothing to hide here, Inquisitor! Actually yes, my chapter has in fact two hidden companies. Neither of which are at full capacity but they do yield unique features and characteristics. The first is The Broken Company and those are made of those few Centurions who are basically completely burnt out physically and mentally despite all efforts made to preserve them. They are deeply catatonic and they cannot sleep although occasionally they are prone to lashing out when reliving their trauma. They are allowed the honour of deciding when to end their own suffering, and are deployed in pairs via Dreadnought drop pod due to size and space constraints where the destruction they inflict will cause the most damage and that is usually decided on a case-by-case basis by a joint meeting of the various company the Captains. Unfortunately the rest of the chapter cannot deploy near them until they are slain due to the risk that being near such disturbed Brothers presents. Think of it as being somewhat like the Death Company of Blood Angels and their successors but in Centurion war suits. The other hidden company is called The Dark Company and is much smaller than all the others. This is made up of Marines who are Blanks. They have their own containment chamber within the battle barge and are rarely deployed except against psyker-sensitive enemies such as Chaos, Orks, and so forth. Although they tend to form something of a “micro Deathwatch” in this regard as they usually specifically seek & destroy enemy psychics such as Zoanthropes, Wierdboyz, and so forth. This makes it safer for us to deploy our own psykers into battle since we do not want to risk causing temporal anomalies by having an excess of warp energies flooding the vicinities.
