    I use the skins from the ricer. I spray them with butter, add salt, put them in my air fryer, and I have potato skin crisps. Can sprinkle them on the mashed potatoes, just use them as a snack, or top potato soup with them.

      Mashed potatoes are really good with the skins left, plus you're not throwing away the majority of vitamins and minerals that are only in the skin.

    A potato ricer is kitchen life changing gadget. I’m not vegan but my daughter is. V-mash is if way taster than reg. Boil chopped potatoes in 1 can of coconut milk and garlic cloves, salt and pepper and water if u need it to just cover the potatoes.
    Drain and reserve the liquid gold. Rice the potatoes and add a little horseradish and the boiling liquid to desired texture. You can add olive oil or vegan butter. It’s delicious. It always wins over traditional mash.

    I just got this potato ricer in a second hand store and didn't have any idea of how to use it. But I was close enough when I thought I could use it for my mashed potatoes. Thank you for the info. I've seen my friend mashing cooked egg yolks through a colander to make dishes look more appealing. I think I could use this ricer to do the same, and also to prepare the devil eggs stuffing.

      I was watching an Italian Grandma (Gina) make lasagna the way they made it in Italy when she was younger. Interestingly, in Italy they never added ricotta -- but they did add crumbled hard-boiled eggs (just a couple per lasagna) in one of the layers. The ricer would be great for that!

    As much as I hate mashed potatoes, I really like this video because the chef thankfully did not use an electric mixer to make the mashed potatoes. This is right up my alley, especially if I'm with family for Thanksgiving when they make mashed potatoes. The racer is an excellent substitute for the mixer because you don't need to use the mixer to make the rest of the mashed potatoes the consistency want them to be. • @IWantToCook
      @IWantToCook  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find the potatoes remain hot, as this process doesn’t take long. And potatoes are easy to reheat. As for the skins, another nice thing about a ricer is that it separates them, making it easy for you to dig them out and use for other purposes. Thanks for watching!

    Are there ricers available for raw potatoes?

    • @IWantToCook
      @IWantToCook  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kind of. There are commercial machines such as Robot-Coupe that can process large amounts of foods, including potatoes, or at home you could try a food processor or even a box grater. That will yield smaller bits and shreds somewhat like what comes out of a ricer. I use a box grater, for example, when I want potato shreds to make hash browns.

    I love the process, it appears to make lovely mashed potatoes. However, I would have to peel my potatoes. I can see that if you don’t peel them, when you are mashing them some of the peelings still end up in the final product. I’m just not a fan of potato peelings.

    I'm guessing you can use for oranges/lemons too?

      Possibly if they are already peeled. In my experience, I think for those you’d be better off with a citrus press.

    Wow, so you don't have to take the skins off if you use a ricer?

      @IWantToCook  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! That's one of the cool things about it, and a real time saver.

      Sometimes, you’ll still get little bits of skin. But still worth it

    Don’t feed your dog potato skins. It’s toxic to them. Also, I found a bunch of brown bits in mine that were the rotted parts of the potato. I saw them in your potatoes too. The other thing I’ll mention is that I bought a potato ricer and I cannot squeeze the potato through. I don’t have the hand strength, so back to use a fork

    Why waist the skins. They are more nutrient rich than the rest of the potato. Season and bake.

    What a crock . . . a Sunbeam mixer will make creamier . . . fluffier . . . better mashed potatoes in half the time . . . this is nothing more than another stainless steel gimmick to get 30 bucks from you to stick in a cupboard . . . and gather dust. Wonder how much he gets for each one he sells . . .
