Well technically, it was held in Outworld so Kahn could have the advantage, as going into another Realm that he hadn't merged with Outworld weakens him just like Raiden leaving Earthrealm also weakens him. Plus, the real idea was an all-or-nothing rematch.
Winged BluJ the idea that raiden leaving earth realm affecting his powers was only for nether realm and if he stayed there too long he would lose them. This was retconed anyway and the reason they held the next tournament in outworld (in both timelines) was to make the custom rule that if outworld wins, they would merge earthrealm immediately, but if they lost they could never try take earthrealm again. Obviously the answer was no, but changed it to a yes because the tarkatans had attacked the Shaolin monastery kidnapping Sonya blade and Kano to bait them into going.
He gives the best history of all the characters but the only thing I didn’t like is the fact how he showed Armageddon during Deception but everything else I liked about the video but my favorite Shang Tsung will always be the original timeline especially in the 3D games he looks like the first Shrek villain and he isn’t more villainous than the MK9 version in complete motives
Not exactly "decades" as you mentioned after the Great Kung Lao's defeat, but centuries. Shang Tsung and Goro held Outworld's winning streak for over 500 years until Liu Kang won.

I took from mk11 that his spirit retreated to haunt his island in the Krypt and it’s my personal headcanon that he’s only being so helpful to the delver of the krypt because he intends to possess him and revive himself once he has collected all the powers and items strewn around the island.
As slimy of a character as he is, Shang Tsung’s voice and mocap actor just brings this charisma to the role that I can’t help but appreciate. Even when he says something dark or twisted, I’m just here like *the delivery though*

In MK11, it is illustrated that in the MK universe, time is linear, binding everyone from mortals all the way up to the Elder Gods, with only Kronika being outside of it. This would mean that when we speak of different timelines, it should not be understood that those timelines actually exist as alternate realities as they do in, say, the Terminator series. Only the current timeline, with all of its changes and alterations, exists. What Raiden sees in MK9 and MK11 are not glimpses into alternate realities, but shadows of things that would have been. Thus, it falls to reasons that where the timelines share a common past--everything up until the moment Raiden received the message from himself in MK9--there can be no differences up to that point. Therefore, the original timeline has received retcons. It is no longer canon that Kitana and Mileena grew up together, but the only possibility is that Mileena was created at the time she was in MK9 in all timelines. The only differences, perhaps, may be that in the original timeline, Kitana is introduced to Mileena at a different time during the Outworld tournament, not having discovered the latter during her initial awakening in the flesh pits. Shao Kahn probably introduced Mileena as Kitana's long-lost sister in the original timeline (since, as I said, their mutual childhoods can no longer be canon), whereas in MK9 she discovers her at a time when she was not supposed to.
If I remember correctly, Shujinko didn't decline his invitation to the tournament. He had every intention to, but Damashi (Onaga) forced him to complete his quest for the Kamidogu.
Shang Tsung is still at the bottom. He cannot win his own fights & normally needs help from someone else to suceed. Whenever he does go 1 on 1 he gets demolished as evidenced by the fact hes been defeated and/or outsmarted by Lui Kang, Quan Chi, Shao Kahn, Raiden, Kitana, Kenshi, Bo Rai Cho, and The elder Kung Lao, but is too spiteful and prideful to see his own shortcomings and actually train.
I just want to say how awesome it is they used Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa’s(the original Shang Tsing from the ‘95 Mortal Kombat movie) face. He’ll always be Shang Tsung to me when I imagine the character. #MortalKombatMovie(05-05-21)

I find it funny that Shujinko is the character's name, and that name is usually used in Japanese to refer to the main protagonist of a game or story. It's not really meant to be a name on and off itself. It's like if his name was 'Hero'.
They really showed off his fighting skills in Aftermath. I like how they "nerfed" him in canon by having the earthrealm warriors know he'll betray them, instead of being nieve and getting caught off guard. You'd have to be an idiot or desperate to trust him.

Quan Chi provided the necessary sorcery and assistance to Shang Tsung, in exchange for the location of the Temple of the Elements... the information QC needed to start the plot of MK Mythologies... No, you are not alone. There's at least two of us. The original timeline, while not done well in its original execution (Compared to what it could have been, in my opinion), is still vastly better than the current timeline. What we need is the execution of the new timeline, and the story of the old one. The new timeline comes off as another studio hating the PS2 era of MK (Most like for its gameplay and then just hating everything else), thinking they can do better, and then realizing after the fact that it's not easy and they suck at it. For starters, they just completely disregarded Onaga carrying Shao Kahn off the pyramid, as if Shao Kahn could ever take Onaga head on, which he can't. Which is why he had to poison Onaga. Then, they look for shock value in killing Liu Kang, but the story mode is so flawed that everybody is just beating everybody, breaking all unspoken power structure, and ending up with Johnny Cage being Bruce LeRoy for Halloween against Shinnok, so that Cassie Cage could then lead the new cast of characters and be Bruce LeRoy against Shinnok. One of the few things they actually did right was properly portray Sindel as a bad-ass in MK9....... ONLY TO TURN HER INTO A GOLD DIGGER IN MK11. They failed so badly that, three games in, they've already reset the timeline again and went back to before the Great Kung Lao defeated Shang Tsung.. it's clear as all hell that the further they pulled away from the original timeline, the worse the story got.
So a bit of conflicting lore here: Bo Rai Cho can't compete on behalf of earthrelm because he was born in outworld, but Shang Tsung can fight on behalf of Outworld despite being from earthrelm?
Me and my partner just watched the original film. I’d seen it as a kid and remembered it as garbage and she had never seen it, well I’ve got to say I don’t know if it was nostalgia or just nice to see something so cheesy and old school but we fucking loved it. Laughed our asses off and I developed a big case of hair envy with liu kang hahaha. Really not that bad at all, even if Christopher lamberts acting wasn’t his best. It’s his awkward sorries that had me scratching my head. Anyway, great bit of lore to round off a good night of mortal kombat! Cheers
With the story explained i personally understand the story thoroughly to each installment was a sequel, prequel or a different timeline in itself. And mk11 was good at telling the story but aftermath made it especially easier to follow through. I personally stopped playing at mk9 and switched to tekken (is a better fight game) but mortal Kombat is a way better story .
Yeah, judging by Shang Tsung dialogues in MK11 he's the Rebooted timeline Shang Tsung, He knew what Shao Khan did to him in MK9. Kronika should have brought back young Shang, not the MK1 one. But who knows, MK11 is filled with plotholes anyway.

If you want to get technical centuries can still be described by decades, though thats being picky.

Me and my partner just watched the original film. I’d seen it as a kid and remembered it as garbage and she had never seen it, well I’ve got to say I don’t know if it was nostalgia or just nice to see something so cheesy and old school but we fucking loved it. Laughed our asses off and I developed a big case of hair envy with liu kang hahaha. Really not that bad at all, even if Christopher lamberts acting wasn’t his best. It’s his awkward sorries that had me scratching my head. Anyway, great bit of lore to round off a good night of mortal kombat! Cheers
With the story explained i personally understand the story thoroughly to each installment was a sequel, prequel or a different timeline in itself. And mk11 was good at telling the story but aftermath made it especially easier to follow through. I personally stopped playing at mk9 and switched to tekken (is a better fight game) but mortal Kombat is a way better story .

Yeah, judging by Shang Tsung dialogues in MK11 he's the Rebooted timeline Shang Tsung, He knew what Shao Khan did to him in MK9. Kronika should have brought back young Shang, not the MK1 one. But who knows, MK11 is filled with plotholes anyway.
