Chad, I love the thoroughness with the different in-cabin views. This sounds exactly like what I’m looking for - not really much louder than stock in most situations, but deeper tone. I didn’t hear any evidence of drone or bad resonance. Can you confirm? Also, how many miles on the exhaust when this video was taken?
I need to drive it more, but there was some slight resonance at lower rpms (~2,000), leading me to downshift to up the rpms, but let me verify that first as it was very preliminary and I wouldn't want anyone to make a decision based on that. The test was done within the first 100 miles after putting on the exhaust.
Thanks again for all the work you’re putting into this. I’m also interested in the dyno results, but as you mentioned, I don’t think it’s going to make a huge difference. The sound and appearance are the big factors for me, so I’m very interested to hear more about the sound after break-in, especially the low-rpm resonance you mentioned.
Hi Chad - I am eagerly awaiting the tests (sound and horse power) for the GWR superstreet single tip and the GWR midpipe - when do you plan to do that - waiting patiently. I have a GWR Superstreet single tip and am loving it - however now thinking about getting the mid pipe - but wanted to wait for your tests before I did. When are you planning to do the GWR testing with midpipe etc?
I am too... Unfortunately here in MA everything has been closed due to COVID19. I've been in close contact with the dyno shop and as soon as they are allowed to reopen, he'll let me know. It's not forgotten, and definitely a priority for me, but I really don't have an ETA at this time.
Great video You make a new Dyno? I purchase a Greedy SP Axle back, and I''m waiting it from US. The question is how HP are lost? or gain? I'm happy if are the same HP, because with stock ECU map... is common lost somethings with aftermaket exhaust.
Unfortunately, no new dynos as my dyno shop has been closed due to Covid19 and although they recently reopened they’re still not conducting dyno pulls. Hopefully that will change soon.
I'm impressed with the interior sound! Sounds really nice and builds with rpm! Sounds perfect to me, What are your thoughts on interior sound compared to stock, interesting to see the difference in volume and type of sound the midpipe adds? Also do you know if the greddy midpipe has a cat or is it another resonator? Thanks mate.
When driving aggressively I enjoy the tone, and as you said it does build with RPMs, which is nice. However, there is some resonance in the lower RPMs (2-3k) during casual driving.
@@TheLemonFactor my bad. Mine is the greddy supreme sp 2 cat back. I didnt even know they made yours. I guess they are diff. I was wondering why your muff was low.
@@businessmanph Should be the exact same. I've only installed the axle-back portion and will then install the mid pipe in the near future to see how much additional sound and power the mid pipe add makes overall.
I'm on the fence between the Greddy and the Goodwin Racing SuperStreet. You've mentioned in the comments that you noticed a drone on the Greddy in the low RPM range. Did that go away over time?
No it hasn't gone away. It's not horrible, but it's there. If you have a mix of driving, i.e. changing up the rpms, then it really isn't a problem. Steady state driving within that rpm range can be annoying. When it does happen to me, I find that I downshift to take me out of that rpm range where there's the drone.
@@TheLemonFactor I have the same drone between 2-3k with my Greddy SP axle back. I hate it. Any ideas how to improve that without removing the exhaust? It's worst when the top is up.
Thanks for this video, was about the pull the trigger on the exhaust but will wait for the midpipe vid.
Awesome video! Superb research 👌 thank you
Thanks a lot. I'm trying my best to provide what I'd be looking for if I were trying to decide on an exhaust.
Really liking your video series on your ND2 MX-5. I heard that the Flyin Miata mid pipe for the ND2 adds at least 10hp without any tuning.
Thanks for the watch and comment. I'm hoping that the mid-pipes add some hp, without too much extra noise - 10whp would be great.
Thanks for the comprehensive video. Will you be doing a similar video on sound measurements once you get the mid-pipe on?
Absolutely! My guess is that the mid-pipe will change the sound considerably.

The Lemon Factor! Have you put more miles on the Greddy since this video and any more impressions on the resonance down low?

The Lemon Factor! Thanks Chad - fully understand - given the situation at present - I’ll stay tuned
Great video

I'm sure this was answered already in another video, but what decibel meter app are you using?
I’m using Decibel X
Super loud when accelerating. My headers didnt make it much louder. Nd1. Headers and catback. Soft top.
What's the full exhaust setup (brand)?

Are you experiencing vibration in the cabin between 2k-3k rpm?
I am not experiencing any physical vibrations, however, there is audible drone / resonance at that RPM.

Unfortunately, no. 🤷♂️. My solution was to drive around that RPM 😕
Thanks! I may use the stock muffler for winter top up driving and the Greddy for summer months.
I liked the Greddy but that drone is annoying. Some people add sound deadening material to the trunk to help reduce noise.
