Hi Andrew. How do you rate the rain resistance of the bike because the battery is at the back and the power connection is at the bottom. Is it waterproof? Maybe it's better not to drive when it's raining?
@@bcfchris18 I’ve been out in the rain and had no problems I did dry it down when I arrived back
That looks great Andrew, knocks my efforts into a cocked hat.
😂😂👍
Good job Andrew I enjoyed the day I made my hat with you, I gave it to a little lad who stayed in our holiday cottage who missed his dad it looked great on his teddy. Stay safe Andrew
Thanks Chas hope all is good with you and i remember you making the hat, fond memories stay well
It sounds like being on the trolley bus as a kid ! I reckon you'll enjoy yourselves with it & maybe jump the barriers next time.
Cheers Ash having a lot of fun with Bob , 9 miles today
Sir how many miles u can go with full charge
😂 cheers Ash
Looks impressive. I'll get one when I old !
Sort of calming to watch 😊
Cheers Kevin

Thanks Len
Very nice Andrew you have made a sound job of this one
Cheers Ian
Well done Andrew, you pulled out all the stops on that one. Oscar Deutsch Entertains Our Nation !
Cheers Ash 😊👍
Thanks Andrew. I am saving up for a Herald. Love watching you use it.
Thank you Jim you will love it when you get it, great lathe for the money
I like that one.
Good singer Tony
It's the masked turner ! Nice project, thanks.
The project is great. The song is great with nice safety reminders but I would remove the watch while turning
Hi Gary thanks for your comments and agreed if the watch was a chain link or leather strap definitely a no no, also i don’t wear rings. The watch is a soft fit biz type strap and would if caught snap easily. I also recommend not using cloth of any kind to polish, I always use safety cloth by chestnut products, cheers Andrew
Nice one of my favourite songs😊😊
Cheers Alan
Nice to watch you finish them off Andrew. Take care pass my regards to Janet.
Thanks Martin and all the best to you all
Great video Andrew thanks for sharing
Thanks Shane it was filmed a while ago so working on the returning video now, nice bit of fun during the Christmas holidays
Absolutely wonderful video. Your song will be in my head this morning as I enter my shop. Thanks for sharing. "Grumpsy" the wood turner.
Thank you James pleased you enjoyed it and a very happy new year to you and the family
Nice work and great voice ! Love the song 🎉
What a nice touch Andrew, great video and loved the song 😊,cheers Colin.

As a new learning turner this was very useful to me & very well explained in a nice simple way to understand. Thanks Andrew 👍

Sorry I do not know
Just ordered one after seeing it at Harrogate. Cost me £80 plus p&p. I really like my Harald but the tail stack has always been annoying due to it constantly getting difficult to operate efficiently. The new model is considerably better. It moves freely and ejects a centre tool easily. I believe the first model was not fit for purpose and Record should have done the decent thing and recalled the tail stocks. Whilst I was on the Harrogate stand last year and again this year there was a constant stream of Herald owners raising the same complaint about their tailstocks.
Thanks fir your comment Gordon leased you like your new tailstock
Hi Andrew. Question for you. The lowest speed on the coronet lathe is 250, is that low enough or do you think a low speed like on the powermatic would be better?
Hello Jack thanks for the question, it depends on what you want to do, if it’s thread chasing I find it fine for that with 20tpi chasers but if its for applying lacquer while the piece is rotating I would go for a lower speed lathe. I have a powermatic 3520B and both are great lathes but there’s a big difference in cost. No experience with a Powermatic smaller lathe but I’m sure if it anything like the 3520 it will be great engineering. Hope that helps
Andrew taught me to make these & I've made a few for friend's babies now. They have proven surprisingly robust & can produce a lovely tinkling sound when rattled. All thanks to Andrew.
Thank you Ash
Brilliant
Thank you Alan
I've a 'golden chain tree' in the backyard here in Oregon and a good few of my handtools have laburnum handles....That wood has character that a video just cannot capture....I would love to see your bowl, that chunk of wood was a real find. -Veteran '66-68
Yes it was a large piece of Laburnum Roger the grain was beautiful.
Thank you for this tutorial on the Cornet Herald. I am getting one for Christmas and your video is a big help. I am new to turning wood. I am a wood carver, painter, and do pyrography but I want to make bowls, platters, and other wood turn items. Thanks again.
Good morning and thanks for your comment . Not sure where you are from but there are usually great offers on at the Harrogate woodworking and woodturning show its on in November 10,11 and 12 best regards Andrew.
@andrewhall6880 I am on the Emerald Coast in Alabama USA. I really look forward to buying the Cornet Herald. I think I am buying the perfect lathe.
Having used the lathe since it came out I’ve been well impressed with it and feel that its the best value for money in that price range
Beautiful.
😊 thank you
Polished laburnum always looks good & that was quite a big piece. Lovely design as well, a nice Christmas present for someone.
Thanks Ash
Brilliant been waiting for this one
Thanks Alan
Great to see something different Andrew to many people doing resin inlaid vases, good to see a proper piece of turning
Thank you Charles for your kind comments Hope all is well with you
We coud all do with practising those lathe techniques Andrew, well done. The change in the weather had my lathe covered in condensation todayt, turners take note ! Then my camvac blew up, but I'm pleased to say, RP are on the case already. Looking forward to the owl demo.
Cheers Ash hope you get the camvac sorted
Great spindle gouge demo.
Cheers Ash
That's a nice finished effect, well done. I must now try using the ones I bought earlier !
Having a lot of fun with them Ash
Very interesting Alan……I’ve been woodturning for about ten years…..I’m not great at it but getting there now I’ve retired from my nurseries Eggleston Hall Gardens and Plantsmans corner and have more time……..though I do still run the Plantsmans corner TH-cam channel…….My old grandfather used to use a treadle lathe and near the end of his life at 96 he upgraded to a record coronet No1……which I now use….he was a tight old sod, not because he was a Scot (though it might have contributed) but because he lived through wars and rationing…..he also struggled to keep the treadle going with his knackered old knees in his eighties! However it is limited in its speeds, requires belt changing for the three speeds, and has no reverse or indexing….its basic basically! So….I am torn between a Coronet Herald which you’re using and the Axminster AP406WL……. I know you’re a representative of Record power, but money aside which would you choose?…..I don’t know anyone who’s experienced both. Because it’s bench mounted I also like the idea the heavier lathe will vibrate less….my old one makes quite a noise and I’d prefer it not to. Here in Barningham where I live I have neighbours….posh but tolerant thankfully and in every video I see the modern lathes are so quiet. Anyway…..I’ll be making a new PC video soon and will give your channel a link and mention…..I don’t make as many now, after 50 years a nurseryman I’ve had enough, but viewers do ask for updates….they were never videos you’d let your maiden aunt watch anyway. Thanks again for some good honest well explained and presented material…..you’re very easy to listen to. Best wishes….Malcolm Hockham
Hello Malcolm thank you for your communication and yes I agree woodturning is great. However whats interesting is where you worked as we visited the nurseries many times and still do as we like a ride up Teasdale and down Weardale. My wife has plants in the garden thats come from Eggleston. I don’t actually work for record power but have had the opportunity to use lots of lathes demonstrating. Ive used both on the Herald and the Axminster 406WL and have to say both are excellent lathes but it depends on your budget and pardon the pun comparing apples with apples. The Herald at the price it is at at the moment is excellent value for money and in my opinion the best lathe on the market at that price bracket. Looking at the prices of the axminster 406 WL i would also look at the Coronet Envoy as its in the same price range. Thing is both are excellent lathes and you will get great pleasure from either one of them. Harrogate woodworking and woodturning show is on in November harrogatewoodworkingshow.co.uk/about There will be an opportunity to compare a lot of lathes and its a great day out. I will be demonstrating there so pop along and say hello Ive also done a record power video a few years ago as they are always kind enough to lend me a lathe at the show. This will give you some more detail about the lathe th-cam.com/video/nP4q3j0sqFY/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps Best wishes Andrew
Thank you Andrew……I will be going to Harrogate…..I saw it advertised somewhere and made a note of it. I retired from Eggleston two years ago after 25 years….I handed the business over to my wife Lisa and my last apprentice once he got back from a stint at Kew. Sadly the hall is up for sale….£5 million if you’ve a few quid in your sock drawer!…..so the future is very uncertain for them, and things are on hold because you need to plan 2-3 years in advance in the business. Thank you for the advice on lathes…..frankly I don’t really think I need the capacity of the Envoy or the Axminster…..I just fancied a big one….i don’t know what that says about me…probably the same as blokes with the need for big cars! So I think the Herald will be my choice and I’ll use what money I saved to buy the attachments. I will hopefully see you at Harrogate. Best wishes and thanks again……Malcolm
Champion Malcolm come and say Hello ill be demonstrating on a Herald and they always have good show deals.

Andrew the shape ifs very pleasing one the eye what sort of finish are going to use on it for a bird bath cheers Ian
Hi Ian I didn’t put any finish on figured it would be safest for birds I’ve had wood bowls on the garden for many years and the go a lovely silver tone
