Fuck that, Tenzin can take all 4 of them by himself. The only reason he lost is because P'li had a vantage point on him, but if she was on ground level Tenzin would've demolished her as well. Aang clearly taught him well.
Not to rain on the inevitable Tenzin parade, but while he fought valiantly, Zaheer had already fixed the odds in his favor. Zaheer doesn't care about 1v1s, he ran away (specifically up so Tenzin would be easier to hit from the airship) and stalled until his more competent teammates could win and help him. His strategy trumps Tenzin's abilities. Tenzin may have been about to "win" the 1v1 vs. Zaheer... but he had already lost the battle. Great scene that is one of the rare instances of a squad of antagonists actually acting like a team.
It’s crazy too cause Tenzin was looking like he could handle the 3v1, but then P’Li is out here camping with the sniper so there was no hope. Zaheer is probably my favorite villain of all time though; his ideals, skills, and development to eventually unlock a forbidden and ancient level of air bending all in that climactic scene is what makes him a perfect villain IMO.
I'm not saying you're wrong and if you're right I actually love zaheer even more as a villain, but if that is the case why does zaheer still attack tenzin while on his way up rather then just running until getting to the top?

Sort of like how one would shoot at someone coming up or going down a flight of stairs... keep them second guessing whether they should full sprint after you or not. This causes hesitation and gives you the advantage because the chaser has to play to your beat. Since we are talking about it, take a look as they are hopping the roofs. Zaheer turns around kicks air and then runs and jumps in the other direction. He is fleeing, not fighting, he only makes a stand at the top of temple in full view of his girl.

I never understood why they just didn’t go directly to the Northern air temple to warn the airbenders themselves. They were way closer and would have gotten there in time for everyone to get out. Don’t forget that at this point Korra and Asami were lost somewhere in the desert. There was even the possibility that they would not have been able to find her.
Hey Jerzeyboyz, I'm from Perth Amboy/Woodbridge area and a major avatar fan. Tenzin gave the Red Lotus the business!! They had to jump him because Tenzin wrecked Zahir. If that fight was 1 on 1 Zahir was done for lol.
Tenzin definitely would have whooped Zaheer's ass 1-on-1. Zaheer's the type of guy to learn the forms & philosophy from books & such even when he was never a bender, due to his love of Guru Lahima's philosophy on freedom. But Tenzin? He's been learning from Aang since the day he was born. Which is why Zaheer didn't make it a 1-on-1. He waited till he got some backup. Even then, Tenzin was holding his own 3-on-1. The Combustion-bending was just too much for him.
Katara is the best healer in the world and she could kick ass lol I think it’s irrelevant if they heal or not especially as the daughter of aang and katara arguably the two best waterbenders during the time period of her learning.
There is one HUGE plot hole that never made sense I just noticed WHOS DRIVING THE AIRSHIP? It just hit me the red lotus is all engaged in fighting so who’s driving the ship? Also tenzen is such a better airbender if it was a 1v1 fight zaheer would have been crushed
I mean yeah but Zaofu is closer to the north of the earth kingdom not far from the northern air temple and Katara is literally in the south pole. I'm pretty sure it would be stupid to go to the south pole to talk to her while Zuko is literally next to Korra :)

Zaheer's crew took a loss in Zaofu, and Zaheer would've held a solid L from Tenzin till he got the jump-in boost. Red Lotus squad really was nasty tho.
It's a bit confusing, targetting Airbenders who are the least attached to the world order. Yes, bait for Korra, but being ready to slaughter what Zaheer might consider closest to his ideal society just to get her, it seems like he doesn't care for either the ends or the means, just as long as he wins.
