no there isn't. in reality there is no such thing as a martial arts master. its impossible to master something that is ever evolving
houseofaction There is this thing called FUNDAMENTALS that gives one person the edge over another. Tenzin's fundamentals were far superior than Zaheer's, and it showed. Zaheer had talent and creativity, but his fundamentals were shit. Fundamentals don't evolve, they are set in stone.
Well, you could easily flip the narrative and say that a guy who's only been an airbender for a few weeks was capable of holding his own against the Avatars son.
EverythingCounts Except he DIDNT hold his own. Tenzin had him on the run for majority of the fight, and only reason he didn’t finish him off was cause of P Li’s interference. Zaheer was completely overwhelmed.

That moment when Tenzin is cornered but won't surrender is the first time this show made me genuinely emotional. There were definitely cool moments up to this point, but the brutality of the Red Lotus and Tenzin's resolve. . .

@@MaestroRigale I think that even though zaheer isn't really afraid of killing people(as seen with him killing the queen and attempted murders of both tonraq and korra) He won't kill anyone unless its for a good reason. Thats probably why he didn't kill tenzin
@@epicfan1598 Yea he has no reason to kill Tenzin and his family. Or even the other Airbenders. He's not entirely out of balance like some of the other villains were. He simply believed in doing what he needed to do.

Earth is sturdy, air is flexible. So it was hard for airbenders to go head-one with earthbenders. Since air is invisible, it would be quite tough for earthbenders as well.

Jinora watching helplessly as Kai is blown out of the sky and falls to his death reminded me of Katara watching helplessly as Aang was electrocuted and fell to his death as well.
Now you know what an airbending amateur looks like against a real airbending master. Tenzin not only was putting actual hits on Zaheer (Zaheer couldn't even touch him), but he was holding his own pretty well when it became a 4v1 thing.

Lalisa T Well he was holding his own 3v1 but Pl'i (is that how you spell her name? I can never remember) is just too op and made the 4v1 impossible. If she were a regular strong firebender he would've had a far better chance at the 4v1

Bronze Abe ikr? Kya is one of my favorite fighters in this show because she’s the only one that still fights in the ATLA style. Everyone else in Korra fights in a much more MMA style which, while it makes sense, is much less visually interesting in my opinion
Yeah except Mako, Korra and Bolin I think everyone uses old bending style.
nope. I think korra uses more pro bending and mma or modern style to her bending. although I sometimes see her using the traditional style

Zaheer has leverage against other fighters because no on is accustomed to fighting against airbending(Aang also had this advantage). When fighting against an actual airbending master, you can tell he was losing.

No, it was stated that Zaheer could kill masters even without his powers, and with them he killed several of them at the same time. People don't see to realize how powerful Tenzin really is, the title "master" doesn't mean nothing, his daughter a week later receive that title and she is a joke in front of his father and his grandfather at 12. Tenzin is a top tier and probably one of the strongest airbender in history, he is not just the average airbender master that where killed by the firebenders.
Leijona Oneiroi Monk Gyatso would be the best. Aang straight up calls him as such, and you see over a dozen fire nation skeletons around his own. Meaning he was able to take on several COMET ENHANCED firebenders by himself.
Plus, while Zaheer is strong, Tenzin, Sokka, Zuko, and Tonraq all still best the four main Red Lotus members. He’s deadly, but he’s not unbeatable, as shown with that and this fight against Tenzin.

Did you guys forget that Zuko’s already related to an avatar. His Moms dad was Avatar Roku so he’s not only loyal to the avatar because of aang but because he was related to one.
ALI ALI He’s not loyal to the Avatar for something like blood relations. Zuko isn’t the type of person that would let ancestry define his relationship with a person.
A huge part of his arc was his getting over that, in fact.
He’s loyal to the Avatar because he knows what the Avatar represents and that’s something he believes in protecting whole heartedly.
Roku is actually Zuko's mom's dad's dad, not his mom's dad. Great-grandfather rather than grandfather.

They had a heated argument prior to recording and it carried over and everyone was generally stressed because of the then upcoming NormieCon. Honestly, this episode really gives some perspective on how strong Tenzin is. We've seen these guys take down some of the best the bending world has to offer, and Tenzin held out longer than most, even getting ganged up on.

Nope, that was Seychelle Gabriel who voiced Asami. She also played Yue in the live action adaptation of TLA, which is how she got the part of Asami as the creators actually liked her and wanted to give her a role on their next project which was Legend of Korra.

Tenzin vs Zaheer is probably my favourite one on one fight in all of avatar.
A skilled martial artist who just acquired airbending vs A Master Airbender
Zaheer was lucky he got help because Tenzin would've easily finished him.
in reality throughout the series regular martial artists have been shown to be able to dominate benders. since benders focus on bending and not the actual martial aspects. once an expert martial artist gains bending they should dominate every bender.

He isn't "lucky". He had a team and was leading Tenzin into the open.

I'm not gonna lie, I shed a tear when Tenzin was getting beat up. The ending of Book 3 was just so intense.

You can clearly see in Zaheer vs Tenzin fight that actual airbending is more efficient than violent type of airbending that Zaheer uses. Although Airlack Bubble is quite OP, airbending is never about offence. Thats why I love airbending the most.

i mean they were both using actual air bending it's just zaheer was a novice when it came to using air bending. He had just received it where as tenzin has had it his whole life and trained in it everyday so it wasn't really a difference in airbending types but more in the knowledge of the fundementals of airbending itself that is shown here

I've always wondered why no one under the Queen took control of Ba Sing Se immediately after she fell and Zaheer left... Like, we've only seen her and the Dai Li but the Kingdom is enormous and she certainly had generals and military leadership under her. Someone right below her should have taken charge and stabilized the city and prepare to crown Wu. Instead we had all this chaos and Kuvira because plot i guess
There's always that one episode of each season, where shit hits the fan, and this episode is where shit REALLY hits the fan!
It's great to see the reunion of Team Avatar, as well as the return of Iroh in this episode, but that's just a temporary calm before the shitstorm! The new Air Nation gets captured and held hostage, and the Red Lotus square off against Tenzin and his siblings! Tenzin was definitely the superior airbender, but he got jumped and overpowered. Also, I've seen many fans compare Kai to Jason Todd, but he even gets blown up in this episode! However, unlike Jason, Kai survived.
Just a heads-up, the final two episodes of Book 3 will be mind-blowing, shocking, and earth-shattering!

Tenzin had the edge on Zaheer before the rest of his gang intervened. It's also important to note that yes, while Bumi, Kaya, and Tenzin are Aang's kids, they are also kinda old. Had they been in their prime, the fight would have been much more even and they probably would have won
I mean they aren't that old. Tenzin is like in his early 50's like 51 or 52. Kya is probably mid 50's and Bumi is like 60. And we saw in ATLA being old doesn't really stop them from being badass

When I first saw Tenzin get hit by all three and the camera hid that scene, I legit thought they killed him and I was so terrified.
Next to this and the fight at Zah Fu a few episodes back I don’t think any other battle keep me on the edge of my seat then this one with Tenzin and his siblings vs Zaheer and the Red Lotus.
Bumi couldn't see there was a protrusion under them. When he chose to not let Kya fall, he chose to die with her instead of saving himself. I don't know why but I think that's one underrated moment.
I have a feeling only Rana is listening to the show when someone of cosy 4 is talking.
7:13 is an absolute _triumph_ of animation and voice acting.

With how important the Airbender are to this season they wouldn’t kill Tenzin. The Red Lotus also doesn’t want to necessarily kill everyone either, they just want him as leverage probably for Korra. She’s their main target and Zaheer wouldn’t just kill Tenzin. That’s not his goal. Remember he believed himself to be just and spiritual so mindlessly killing Tenzin wouldn’t solve anything

I always wanted to see in the series or maybe in the comics a moment where Zuko sees his uncle on the spirit world, and when the camera/page goes back to him, he has his teenage body as he embraces Iroh

I'd argue it's a better fight than the final agni kai even though I believe the final Agni Kai is the superior moment because of the backstory between Zuko and Azula. But, this is also Peak Tenzin for me so these two fights are really close in quality.
Oh yeah in terms of story the Agni Kai is superior, but in terms of fight animation I really do believe they are equal
The fight scenes in the last 3 episode of season 3 are just as good as the final Agni Kai
It's too short. Pretty stupid by the writers honesty. This is the first and only time we'd see two Airbenders in a full out battle. It should have been one of the most epic fights on the show.
The fight scene gives me such chills. And the slow pan away from Tenzin v. Red Lotus fight scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it. AND BRUH JK SIMMONS NEEDS ALL THE AWARDS. I love Tenzin.

As great as the fight between Tenzin and Zaheer is, it was too short. This was the ONLY time we'll ever see two airbenders in a full blown duel, and it was a brief one. This should have been on the scale of Korra vs Unalaq, or the Crossroads of Destiny battle.
Iroh got to be the oldest and coolest character of all time, iroh is pretty much like 130 yrs old by 171 AG.

Masterful & experienced Airbending vs raw & prodigous Airbending. Tenzin displays more poise and technique while Zaheer displays more ingenuity and raw athleticism.
I swear tenzin could take on zaheer,ghazan and that water bending girl but he will have to go berserk look here 13:28 he can handle all 3 of them, but that combustion girl snipping is very hard to dodge that's why tenzin lost cuz she is just sitting there snipping.
