Thanks for the tutorial, worked fine. Had a bit of trouble putting the plates back on. Didn’t work for me to just push down. Kinda had to slam the bottom to click them back in place. Maybe because i have the digital version. Great vid nonetheless.

We have found several videos just like your's that just said to lift the corner and push. It's easy once you know how much you should lift the corner, but we had no idea, it wasn't working and we were terrified that we would break it. I would recommend to next time show a view from the top where you show that you should lift the corner until you see 2 plugs come out of their holes and then push. Only once we understood the principle were we confident to get the cover off.

Putting the panels back on you made look so easy. But for some reason on my digital PS5, the side where the extra ssd goes was a pain in the butt to put back on.
Make sure the hooks match the console before pushing down
If it helps when the hooks are lined up put your hand on top of the ps5 and push the plate towards the top with your other hand

When doing this I was trying to clean and get the dust out and I guessed it scratched a little on the inside but it’s small so thank god but thanks so much

OMFG! All this time I'm struggling and for a moment I thought this whole thing has been a mass gas-light conspiracy to trick people to break their PS5. I tried again right after "lift up and pull down" in that same position you had it in the vid and it came off right away =))))))))

wish i would have seen this and other videos - i put the cosmic red plates on last night but the white plates really scratched the inside of mine. seems like a common issue i’m seeing.
I had a LOT of trouble getting the top faceplate back on. I didn’t really know what I was doing but I had to push it to the right VERY hard before it clicked into place.
Easiest thing to do ....watch the video again closely 👍

Just saw this video. Do you have to take the plates off to dust it? I only dust the area around and the outside of my ps5. Will doing this prolong my ps5 lifespan?
Yes you have to remove all dust every 6 months at least
Okay so I really struggled putting it back on, but I got it after almost an hour…you need to place the pallet on top of the ps5 and as you slide it in and you feel the hooks are in place you then start to put the pressure of your body wight on to it as you push against the pallet!!! You need to put the pressure on as you start to slide it in..don’t put it into place then push do it as you push into place!!! I hope this helps someone else 😅

@@madecity the number in in system info is 077. If it's not the overall 77th PS5 to be made. It's the 77th in a particular batch. Well the point is they left too much ribbon on a connector and that's what makes the fan loud.

The first time removing the plates was scary because the hooks were *very* stiff. Perhaps this is something unique to digital editions. But I haven't seen anyone mentioning this yet.
I struggled really hard because I was using so much force that I could see the plates bending and they still wouldn't budge. That initial removal took about the amount of force to snap a chopstick in half (which is a daunting amount to exert on a $400+ product that's impossible to replace). All subsequent times that I removed the sides, they came off easily. So if you're confused like I was by everyone else saying how easy it was, your console might just be latched on extra tight from the factory.
Other tips... Remove the base first if your PS5 is set up vertical. The base pad blocks the path of the plates coming off. Also, positioning of your hands or orientation of the PS5 isn't that important since both sides come off. Just make sure whatever side you're grasping is being pulled toward you while also pushing downward to the end where the vertical support base would be mounted.

total process took no more than 5 days for me to get my new console back

Struggling to get them back on. Okay got the bottom one. Okay I got the top one. Probably took 2 seconds on both sides to pull them off. Took me ten minutes to get the back on and it's the second time I've done it.
