They just kill it. This is awesome. And they're just playing right on the street? This is unreal. I can't believe they're just giving it away for free.
All the musicians playing on the street play for "free" people that stop to listen are expected to put some money in the collection bin to show your appreciation.Same with the bands playing in most of the bars.
To be fair, this is how it would be described. It doesn't happen anywhere else. It's magical and it's awesome. It's the life of the city. That's what busking is and since people enjoy it, they show their appreciation.
Go champs go for it, let only music rule the world and let it sound just this good, looking forward for the REPLAY version, who is willing to sing along?
I've fallen into the TH-cam Vortex and can't get out - I keep finding incredible bands like this! Hours later and transfixed by the talent in New Orleans! I've got to get down there!
I saw them too. Loved them. And love the couple who dances. Curious. How do the diffrent bands work out who gets what street cornor? Is it just 1st come 1st to get a spot??? Greetings from Delaware
That was great, but you need a trumpet player: ME! Actually, you don't; soprano carried the lead just fine; great solos by all, incredible dancers, fine vocal. And hats off to to the reed guy for mixing it up with the dancers. I play in a New Orleans Brass Band here in VT. I'm envious.
Take a look at Tuba Skinny and Shotgun Jazz bands, still playing New Orleans Jazz. Sounds like you have been looking at Bourbon St "music", try Frenchman St., For the best NOLA jazz bands, and Royal St. for bands such as this one, playing on the streets.

This looks like one of those black and white videos from 1910 that was later colorized. Am I close?
Only 99 years out! Recorded April 10th 2009, corner of Royal St. and St. louis.
Sir Eugene Courtney who cares
Oh Hellzyeah for all invovled!
@bellref : Swing :D
there are lindy hoppers that aren't engineers? ;)
is the singer amplified?
no, just her amazing voice.
What is this dance style called?
A bit late and maybe wrong too, but to me it looks like lindy hop.

why isn t new orleans like this anymore. what they re playing now is out of it. ncis new orleans is a fine example of this.
