So I'm a baker and the reason that t swift's cake has no caramelization is because they have cut the brown parts off of the cake! This is a simple cake to make and a bakery should know how to make this basic cake!
Nope, its completely normal. My mom buys the funfetti boxed cake mix all the time for my siblings cakes. (No it dosen't bother me that I don't get it also, I just really don't eat cake and haven't since I was 6.)

If it's a 1 star bakery, that's the cake I would expect...it's actually a little better than I'd expect. I would actually expect a LOT better from the 5 star bakery. If I were guessing, I'd say those were a 1 star and a 3 or 4 at most star bakeries.

The 5* bakery used regular vanilla instead of clear vanilla or very yellow butter or egg yolks in their buttercream. That's why it's more yellow vs stark white like the original milkbar cake.
The 5 star cake is maybe a 3 star. It's a mess for 5 stars. Too much frosting between the layers and the cakes are crooked. Plus, they didn't follow the recipe for the too. Def not 5 stars.
I'm a home baker and I can definitely make this cake way better than the 5 star one. It breaks my heart too see that you have to spend so much on not so good cakes. :(

The cream color is the natural color of butter and cream. I am sure it tastes better and is overall healthier.

You should try the Mexican cake it’s called tres leche it usually has like a whip frosting and different fruits in the layers and on top .but it’s a milk based cake
I believe the idea of a naked cake is a relatively new idea. However bakeries have been making layers with a sick amount of frosting in between for a very very long time. You would assume that whatever five-star bakery he chose would know how to do Even layers. It has the potential to look amazing. But the un even layering makes it look messy
I feel like the five star place felt really awkward having you pay $90 for a "minimalist" looking cake when they're use to impressing people with their fancy piping... so after the "no frosting on the edges" they just couldn't control themselves for the top...

I thought the same too. It looks so basic, probably a vanilla sponge cake with sprinkles in it and frosting. I saw a lot of more beautiful and delicious cakes so this one looks ordinary and basic.
zainab a lol im actually wrong it’s not royal icing, it’s actually cream cheese, vegetable shortening and icing.... but not just cream, cream wouldn’t hold a cake up that well because it’s not stiff enough, the cake would cave if left in humidity

Wow ok I’m not a professional baker nor do I even work for/own a bakery. But I have literally Made this cake (or similar) from scratch in my home kitchen and done a better job than the 1 Star...

there are so many scams going these days where people order and pay for large orders and then dispute the payment once they get the cake so I understand why international decorators said no and its called a funfetti cake.

This is from a 5 star bakery? I mean it doesnt look bad or anything but they made some mistakes even i wouldn't have made like the the cake layers are uneven they should have cut the top of the single cakes off so the cake has a symetrical layering when you slice the first pieces of cake. I would give them 4 stars.
It really just depends on the butter used and white ingredients. Sometimes the same ingredients depending on brand can be a bit more yellowish than in other brands. Since the bakery didn't know what it was supposed to look like, it's fair to say they just didn't think about the white color.

Milk bar is worth it, been to the one in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Their soft served cereal milk ice cream with crunchy corn flakes are BOMB.
