When a person is in deep sleep, the egoic mind is completely inactive - disappears - no thoughts & no dreams. But when is not in deep sleep, the egoic mind is still active - it 'thinks or dreams'.
The true Mind (capital M) neither sleeps nor not sleeps. Its awareness is eternal, and is aware of everything ongoing regardless of the egoic mind is or is not active.
In deep sleep the egoic mind is completely inactive, but by awareness is aware the sleep was good or not, and can 'express' it thru' the active egoic mind when it awakes up from the sleep. 😊
