Many thanks for kindly promoting 43 years of legal CB radio. I have found Delboy's Radio Blog giving Channel 27 UKFM 27.86125 MHz and hope to hear you on the air on 2nd November. Like many others we struggle to hear any CB action unlike in the late 1970s/80s , so weather permitting it will be great this time.😀😀📻
All the best with this net. Thank you, Fred, for doing your part to keep the CB radio hobby alive and well. If you might be broadcasting on Am or SSB, it would be interesting to see if the event can make it across the pond... Just saying...
Its feeds like this from yourself that help keep radio alive and kicking, its getting more and more popular again as more breakers rediscover the hobby.
I don't suppose I will have any luck in hearing you on the day, I haven't so far. I have only just renewed my interest in CB after 24 years. My aerial is just a 1/2 wave portable wire hanging from a window. I can't believe the price of an A99 now, I used to sell them for 50 quid when I had my CB business. With the wire antenna I have heard Americans on the mid band on am and ssb and also foreigners but no English stations, the old UK band has been dead since I started listening again. 555 has had one or two English speakers and plenty of Italians. But I need to get a decent antenna mounted up on a pole before I can be heard I think. In a straight line I am in Norfolk 90 miles from your locations. I have, in 2002, spoken to a mate in Hornchurch using a silver rod 1/2 wave on a pole in the garden but that needed a fair few watts. I have noticed that there seems to be a preference for using LSB on the mids, I wonder why?
Sounds interesting, good luck from the US. Nov 2, is just before election day on Nov 5, God help US. Being born in London, UK, 1944, during WWII, I still have my birth certificate, and if the election goes badly, you might know what I mean, I might return to the UK. My wife and I went to London, in 2013, staying at Earl's Court, London, and where my parents lived from 1939, and left in 1949, when I was about 5, on the Queen Mary, to NYC, on February 25th. My Mother told me that my Father felt seasick on the way over. We lived off Edgware Rd, Park West, near Marble Arch, and after the war, the famous RAF Spitfire pilot, Douglas Bader was a neighbor in our building, whom you could hear with his metal legs from his crash injury in the 1930's. 😅
Just for kicks... I guess I will drive to the coast, park there and hope for some good propagation! My cb is for europe so I can't mix in with the conversations, but with the other radio I can listening in! Have a good one! From Holland!
Hi Fred Thxs for the ifo about the DX on Nov 2nd Hotwheel 26CT3067 will be tuning on the day lets hope we can make contact from Frinton on sea Essex cheers for the update video. Take Care all from 305 net
I will give it a go again this year Fred last year was funny my thunder pole t-800 wasn't putting out much power. fella called max got me he was mobile and drove to high ground and ended up on my street lol. I ended up giving him directions back to Welham green..😂 I hope that if I use my new 9900 I can make better contact cheers Fred. James in Cuffley ish 😂👍
I will be mobile in the Potters Bar area and will call in. I’m glad they’re starting earlier as I’m off the St Albans in the evening to watch the fireworks.
Hi Fred. First-time watcher to your channel . I have a couple of questions 1. What is the maximum wattage for a cb radio in the UK?. 2. Why is it so complicated to achieve a ham license. Was looking into it, but I was totally confused. Help needed. Thanks.
Ham foundation is a piece of cake now, Google Essex Ham. You can do the reading in the morning take the exam in the afternoon and you can use 25W on many bands. Easy.
Blimey… I thought CB died years ago…? I used to be on it in the days of “Dukes of Hazard” and my handle was General Lee… I had a mobile rig in my MG Midget and a home rig “ with the twig on a biscuit tin”… we had great fun and in the evening I managed to “Bounce” and often get guys in Italy and sometimes the US!
Would love to see you give the SDR on 27Mhz another crack. The RTLSDR's (Blog v4 and Nooelec) will "tune" into themselves at 27Mhz. Ideally you would need one of those Ham It Up boxes or an SDR based on a different chip but that does get expensive quick. You can kind of work around it by using 3.2mhz bandwidth and setting the center freq as far away from 27mhz as possible but it's less than ideal. Looking forward to your coverage on this event, might try and bodge a vertical antenna together for it!
Hi I just wanted to ask if you have tried any radio that has both Zello and analog uhf/vhf? I thought it would be interesting because with Zello you can talk with people all over the world from a small handheld radio. I don’t know if it’s a good suggestion or not but I thought it would be fun.
I remember those rally's before I could drive I persuaded my dad to do the one down in Northampton around 1979 ish, he wasn't keen didn't want to get pulled by busby or the police, it was a big turn out, later when I became a radio professional the Association for British CB (ABCB) started up and I became one of the officers for the Nottingham area campaigning for legalisation, after it became legal and went rapidly down hill most of us original breakers stayed on the USA bands or moved to Amateur radio, I haven't been on the UK40 since, is it still full of nutters with echo boxes and wanabee dj's?
To celebrate tune in to: 18:00 to 22:00 Hours GMT Main Net - Ch37 UKFM (27.96125 Mhz) USB Calling on Ch 27 EU (27.275 Mhz) AM Calling on Ch 14 EU (27.125 Mhz) I found this on the Internet...
Sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I was able to take part of it. Cheers from the US.

Good question. Sometimes there are break off nets so a good night to scan around.

Hi. Its 4w am and fm. 12 watts SSB. I think that now you can take a test on line the Ham ticket is a lot easier.
@@CB-RADIO-UK on 4 watts, in miles, what would be the furthest you could transmit to.
Ham foundation is a piece of cake now, Google Essex Ham. You can do the reading in the morning take the exam in the afternoon and you can use 25W on many bands. Easy.
Depends on area and conditions. Locally i would get about 10-15 miles.

Hi. Yes we have had legal LSB and USB for 10 years now.
I'll be on, I'll try to pick you up from MK
