I think I trust the musical more than what I learn from my sister. I don’t have to take American history for another 2 years! Also, I think schools r defunded because they don’t want kids learning the truth about our history. My sis said that most of what she learned, she learned in her own time though google

Love your paradies but you've outdone yourself this time in a stellar way. As a RN I've spent a lot of time in a mask. Yeah it sucks but way more comfortable than being intubated on a vent. So thank you for stepping up on this one. So good I've shared this on FB. When life returns to normal and if you two ever go on tour, I'm buying tickets. You have mad talent and you brighten up my day.

Can you provide peer reviewed studies which show the efficacy of healthy people being protected from virus if wearing disposable and cloth masks ?
I must have asked a hundred people this question online , and not a single person has responded with the aforementioned requested studies ...

Maybe this doesn’t include the exact type of study you’re looking for, but most of the scientific community has found it plenty convincing enough to use masks. www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/more/masking-science-sars-cov2.html
I also wear a mask 😷 for about 9-10 hours a per day as a teacher. It isn’t the greatest but it is not the worst thing either.
I 100% agree with you there. Masking up was common sense to me. Yes it’s less than comfortable and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to take a drink of water with one on 🙄. But, I work retail, have worn a mask when in public and washed/sanitized my hands frequently and it’s been over a year since I was sick at all with anything, that’s proof enough for me that masks/distancing/Lysol work, even without reading articles about effectiveness. I wouldn’t use a random-orbit sander in a dusty shop without a N95, and just because I can’t see a virus doesn’t mean it isn’t inhaled just like sawdust is.

also I want to add that even if my politics don't align completely with The Holderness family, the fact that their songs have kept me smiling through these very tough times is something I'm truly grateful for. I think most people have more in common with others than they know and it's best to find common ground.

Seriously, I've had some of the most delightful conversations with total strangers across age ranges and ethnic/racial lines about their MASKS! Some folks have come up with the most creative mask designs, and it is a great conversation starter!

I've made a 1,000 masks for people. Most of them went to nursing staff at our local hospital and the VA. I made some for our local library as a fund raiser. They donated the money to a food bank in our area. I also made masks for myself. I have one for every occasion! If you wear a mask someone made believe me when I say it was made with love.

Can you prove your masks are safe and hygienic? That they weren’t lying on the floor for people to walk all over before you sent them out? That they don’t have any bacteria or viruses on them already?
As someone who works in a grocery store where people have cussed and yelled at us for making people wear masks it's nice to see something like this. Thank-you.

I work at Walgreens and it's just as bad. We don't require masks but still like people to social distance. That little bit is to much to ask of people it's so flipping annoying. When in quarantine I had people be like that's longer than 6 ft!(We have carpet in front of the register so we stuck it at the edge with the tile) They go on to say when they get up to me and my pathetic plexiglass that now we are closer than 6 ft and that's not fair....if it's not fair stay TF home. I get yelled at over the fact that I have to scan IDs for alcohol and cigarettes...I got yelled at over a battery, a note book, everything....people if you're gonna be an asshole to us please stay the fuck home

I'm in nc too. People are so stupid! Just wear the darn mask and don't MOCK the last words of George Floyd, saying, "I can't breath" while wearing a mask! A mask is nothing compared to what that man went through! He inspired change throughout the nation, and you are using his words because your UNCOMFORTABLE in a mask? I agree. I live in mid MO, thankfully far away from both St. Louis and Springfield, but now the cases are increasing here, whereas we've had only two cases until two weeks ago. And it's bound to get worse when the colleges here open up in a few weeks, and all the foolish young "it ain't gonna get me" partiers come back into town. I'm 67, I don't need this kind of...stuff...in my life at this late date.

I feel you (Central Valley). Meanwhile, I have a mom who is wanting a tween birthday party. And my kids want to know why it's so wrong to want to be with people their same age. (Same, Tiny Humans, same.) So I tell them, "You are perfectly normal and want perfectly normal things. I always live your work. It is generally just awesome. This song however falls in another category. I just wish the extremes were not the rule of our society. It just adds to the hate in the world. There is a whole lot of middle ground that we share that is never celebrated but I guess it will not get you as many views. Although John Krasinski did it pretty well. I am all about being safe. I am also very concerned for nursing home patients. Patients get the best care when their family members can check up on their care. Otherwise the very nature of these homes being understaffed or in some cases abusive gets unchecked. Very sad and dangerous for the elderly. Not to mention all those restaurant workers, stylists, etc who would just like to feed their families. Or those who are waiting for cancer surgeries or screenings. Or those too afraid now to go to the hospital when they have heart issues. Simply wearing a mask IS NEEDED but not the magic solution to every issue.

Jessica Kara I wish! We are missing all our wonderful American friends who visit in the summer. Tourism is definitely suffering, but we've made it "Stay Home Year". Locals exploring our own beautiful province.

i have an oximeter, so for the heck of it, I wore my mask around the house the other day for about an hour and 15 minutes and tested every 15 minutes... my O2 level NEVER budged.. i stayed at 98% the entire time... now, I wasn't running around, I was mostly folding laundry and such.. but.. I have asthma, which has been very bad this year.. so I wear a mask when out in public... I also have a grand daughter who has asthma as well.. only, when she has a bad flare, or gets sick, it often quickly turns to pneumonia.. she's 4... i wear a mask for her.. her uncle is living with them right now as well.. he's dealing with kidney dialysis... I wear a mask for him.. my husband has to travel for work, doing safety inspections, he was able to do most of them remote, but during the summer he inspects fire equipment.. he HAS to be hands on for those.. which means travel.. he wears a mask... we've actually played with several styles, and have several more we're going to try.. there are loads of styles out there.. there are some medical issues where masks aren't a good idea, but, for everyone else, keep trying different styles.. there are loads of free patterns out there, and they are generally fairly simple to construct
Doctors, nurses and dentists wear them all day with no problems.

For all the pro mask wearers aka order followers, the science of mask wearing is not on your side. Multiple studies have been done over the years and they all show the mask are ineffective against viruses. Can any of you find a RCT to support walking around with your face diaper?
@@cameronpresley5771 You are missing the point. The mask is not to protect the person wearing it. There are multiple studies showing their effectiveness at stopping the emissions of spittle from the wearer. And in every area where they are mandatory the rates drop drastically and Covid 19 rates become much lower in a very predictable way.
None of us likes wearing them. We're intelligent people who have done the research and concluded we can get out of this pandemic much sooner through reasonable means instead of pretending our way out of it.
People in other countries have dealt with versions of Covid a few times before and know how to control it. How do they do it? Which countries have it under control and how did they do it? Open your eyes! This is much bigger than the United States!
It's sad and scary. I have friends who call me names for wearing a mask. Friends who have been in my life for years. My decision to wear a mask isn't putting any burden on them. I'm very scared for our country right now. I would love to post you video for my fb friends but I know I'll get nasty messages saying I'm a sheep following the flock. Your video made me smile. I just wanna say: Seen Penn having such a succesfull career doing something he actually enjoys and been able to have what, at least from the outside, looks like a good marriage gives me hope. Hope that my son (who has ADHD) will grow up to be happy and succesfull even if the life is kind of been mean on him. So Holderness: Thanks for the laughs and thanks for the unintentional hope. I have asthma bad. I'm on 3 different inhalers and a nebulizer treatment twice daily just to breathe.........my husband is certified clostrephobic( I don't spell) and we both wear them for others just like me. How is this even an argument?😧

@@theholdernessfamily same here! Allergic and vasomotor rhinitis and asthma and yes it's tough to wear a mask, especially on humid days. But, it's something we have to do for the health of our nation.
I have asthma and type 1 diabetes and hay fever and chronic sinus issues. I always wear a mask. Even when I kick box, I kick box with the mask on because I don't want to pass something on to someone who could take it home to someone with even more issues than I.

You guys are phenomenal! You really have helped me to deal with this whole thing. I'm disabled and homebound so the whole isolation isn't much of an issue for me but it's everything else about this that is depressing. @@shywolf4, when my disability finally came through, I made sure that I had something to occupy my time so I wouldn't lose my mind. For me, that became my yarn crafting. I started to focus more on my crocheting. I suggest you look at who you are and what you like to do within your own capacity. It can be anything as long as you can keep going forward doing it. I also love listening to audio books while crocheting if I'm not watching videos here on TH-cam.
Paula D yup. I have been disabled for 15 years now. So the isolation was nothing new to me. I find that people like us are handling quarantine better than more “typical” people.
The biggest change for me is that my roommate is now going to the pet store to get supplies and toys for our foster kittens. The kittens are not new. I have fostered for 11 years. But we all decided the less I am in stores the better. 😜
I saw Hamilton on Disney Plus a couple of nights ago. I must say your parodies have been great and this one from Hamilton is the best!

Life with Krystle I don’t know what kind of lung issues you have, but as someone with asthma, I breathe much better in the winter if my mouth and nose are COVERED… and I know others with breathing conditions that feel the same.

To all the people who say surgical masks are bad for you and cause you to breath in CO2.... have you ever seen doctors? Or even watched a doctor show on TV? Doctors perform 6 hr surgeries in masks...and do just fine...
They are not working at grocery stores, Walmart or Home Depot... Doctors STAND STILL while doing surgery....

Laura Vella oh don’t underestimate how exhausting surgery is. I’m just in there to assist and usually just for short surgeries and it’s already really draining. Also standing still? The surgeon, for the most part, yes, but that’s because they gotta focus all they have on literally cutting around inside someone’s body and keeping their hands still. It’s not as easy as it sounds.

In my state of Rhode Island we are actually going down in cases! We only have about 25 new ones a day! Like while everyone else was having record high cases we were having record low

Not sure if that will keep up. I'm in RI also & we are pretty good about social distancing. Our state is by far doing the best it can.
Same with us- I live in Vermont. We have not had a ton of cases since our population is low and we are a rural state. But we can go days without any new cases. Then we’ll have maybe 2 new cases in a day. Then back to no new cases. Plus we are testing a lot of people and anyone can get a test whether they have symptoms or not.
Yay the tiny states of New England that nobody cares about (CT and RI) are the only ones not being trash!
NH is right there with you! At one point numbers in Mass and RI were scary but maybe it is because our stay at home was lifted on June 15th so numbers haven't had the chance to jump. I hope our numbers don't go up!!

Thanks especially for the point made in the song -- and brought home in the not-quite-a rant at the end -- you're not wearing a mask primarily to avoid catching the virus yourself. Most such masks people are wearing aren't even up to that task. You're wearing it to minimize the risk of spreading the virus to others. I still don't get why that would be hard for anyone to understand. But ending on a positive note, awesome video. And, if I may say, your voice isn't bad either. :-)

Well done! One thing that I wish people would acknowledge right now, though, is that wearing a mask is not only helping others but helping yourself as well. If you look at how to accurately spell the term for “online” vs “on line”, you will read that you would use “online” when you use it as an adjective to describe a noun. I used the phrase as a noun, and “on line” is an acceptable spelling for that purpose.
Regardless, my point that members of our society need to wear a mask to help reduce the spread of COVID 19 so that it will be safe to go back to school still stands.

Sadly there is a large group of Americans who don't care about other people, only themselves.
Blame it on that stupid curriculum in the 80's or 90's that taught a whole school generation of kids to be sensitive to slights to themselves and have outstanding self-esteem (aka ego). Great concept, but the kids learned the first half of the course, which was about showing others - by ripping off a corner of a paper - how the others upset them as a first step to anti-bullying and self-esteem. Unfortunately, because of time constraints and other issues, they didn't get around to learning or even being taught the other half: taking responsibility for your own actions and being sensitive to the needs of others. At the time, most of us predicted the rampant selfishness, rudeness, lack of caring and general me-first attitude that seems to prevail today. TOO BAD THE COURSE DIDN'T START WITH THE EMPHASIS ON CARING MORE FOR OTHERS' WELL-BEING!

I wish people wouldn't just assume this. There are some groups of people that really can't wear masks because of medical issues or psychological issues. To a hearing impaired person masks cut off a way of communication with others. Most people don't know how to sign so at least the hearing impaired person can read lips but not if everyone's lips are covered. Then you have people that have experienced trauma. Others wearing masks can trigger a response for those people. There are people that have developmental disabilities that have been trained how to communicate and what social expectations are. Now all that has been changed and they may not understand why they must wear a mask. Until you are in somebody else's shoes why judge others?

I had this same argument with my sister who says I believe pseudoscience by wearing the mask. What's worse is she is a lecturer in public health. God help us all. I told her I am wearing my mask to prevent OTHER people (i,e HER) from gettting Covid. I'm like "please, just wear the mask, it's to help other people, not you. Do it for others". I don't know, I just find it really selfish that people don't wear masks. Simple as.

Initially with the mask mandate I balked and stomped my feet, as I saw it as an infringement on my 2nd amendment rights in Michigan. However, after almost a month of research and educating myself, I learned that due to the medical necessity for masks, I could still practice my constitutional right, and wear a mask without being charged with a felony.
I've worked in the medical field and have no problem with wearing masks in public; now that I know it doesn't infringe on my constitutional liberties.
Sorry for the length, but hope that maybe this may explain, in part, a large hesitation in the beginning (march-april), to the mask mandate

I'm in the USA and this is got to be the dumbest country and I have live all over the world 🌎 wake up and smell the mask.

I thank you for this public service/education. As a practicing anesthesiologist for 30 years, I wear a mask around the clock in the hospital and now outside the hospital; while it might be inconvenient or uncomfortable, it’s worth it. Just like you said, for others please. You don’t want to be intubated for CoV; it’s a miserable and even if you live, the comorbidity is horrifying.
