What an amazing video - thank you so much for sharing this special time with your nephew with us - feel really humble watching this one. Keep them coming mate - love your work place lol
This was a special one. Glad we have this even for a memory in time. I’ll be out there getting one done this weekend with all these positive uplifting comments. Cheers buddy.
Bit confused how you use a modern vessel powered by a motor to hunt the traditional ways, should be on foot or from a canoe like how the elders hunted?
U guys bring motor here, it makes to much noise , makes it harder to catch on canoes, cause of the motor noise. if u guys didn't bring motors then we would b right. Remember we were tuned in with mother nature, till u guys came
Good stuff man. I grew up just south of Cooktown with the Yalangi tribe. Back in the 70s, my dad would take them out to the reef flats to do exactly the same thing and I was always upset I couldn't join in the fun as we were white. They were always generous giving us a portion of the catch, and I reckon it may be the finest meat I've ever eaten. I feel priveleged I got to watch the hunts and eat turtle. Great video!
Good stuff mate. It fed the whole family👌 I hope the young fella wasn’t to bombed he didn’t catch one👍 Thanks for sharing the event and explaining the law’s of the hunt🍺🍺
Hello, thanks for your message to me I appreciate it heaps. I would enjoy coming that way to fish and meet your tribe I bet they cook the turtles proper deadly too. 😊 ⚫️🟡🔴
But why turtles out of all animals they’re the slowest. Let’s try to catch a shark or tunas or something that worth while. I never ate turtle before because it’s seems a lot of works. That thing was probably lived over hundred of year. That big ass turtle is too big for me like big game in ocean world. One other note I though Australia have strict fishing laws
Thank you for raising this. In our culture it doesn’t always mean hunting the biggest the most dangerous animal but it is about providing for a village for families it is about survival but saying that it isn’t that easy catching a turtle some days we may not come home with a feed they’re pretty speedy. Yes we do have a strict law that’s why we only catch for special occasions. This was once our ancestors main source of food but now we only hunt once or twice a year to build on the turtle populations numbers. ✌️

It’s actually better this way as there’s no prolonged suffering for the turtle. Turtle isn’t swimming around for a hour while they chase it in a canoe
