A big rusty buck and a soft shell jenny (crab hooking)
The mangrove's were calling on this day, so I took the day off which turned into one of the best times crabbing. I explored new ground taking risk in crocodile water to get to some risky crab holes. We ended up finding a few sitting in the mud and taking home a bag full of crab. Since we had few we made a deadly coconut crab curry dish but the winner was the soft shell jenny. Stay tuned! but I warn you that you will get hungry by the end.

Just a quick fish (land based coral trout)
มุมมอง 1.7K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
We went camping with some friends and after a couple of days in the camp grounds I just had the urge to go for a walk and see what the day would bring. I was surprised to catch a trout from the land it wasn't big enough but this just shows you can catch good fish if your in the right spot.
Mud Crab boil up

Once upon a time in Kinka Beach, Yeppoon
มุมมอง 1.4K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
Yeppoon is surrounded by some of the best beaches and freshwater swimming holes, if you ever get around this area make sure you explore all around the outskirts. We stayed in Kinka beach with family for easter in 2023.
Fishing at the mouth of the Mackay River
มุมมอง 11K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
We made the long walk out to the red beacon to fish at the mouth of the Mackay Pioneer River. We run into cus Uriel and turned into a two day adventure. The second day we landed a queen fish giving us enough fish to make two dishes of numus (raw fish). We brought the cast net along casting schools of mullet and whiting to add to our catch. The fish were biting giving us some excitement througho...

A big thank you brother. Always have to try and explain aye. I just went over and subscribed to ya channel. Deadly brother
Hook in Qld 😐?
Before there was law we were living off the land and we still use some of our practices to survive and to show the next generation.
Love your stuff bala. Cheers from Bundjalung Country.
Aaaah appreciate this message bala. I practice most of our culture on Yuwibara country where I was born and raised but my blood runs from Gooreng Gooreng country.
Yes? Very good my boy! Excellent! No swearing or boozing! But so much learning! You have listened to me and respectfully! Would you be okay to show this to my class? I think your content will thrive, especially around the stories around our culture? And for others that are interested? Learning about the history is a big things in the classroom now, as your kids would tell you this? ❤🖤💛❤️
Yes I did take what you said into consideration for future videos. I did swear once tho where I couldn’t edit it out because how and when it was recorded. It was after I got out of the water from getting the second crab. Yes no sauce bottles in camera 😊. Thats great news my kids do make me aware that they do learn heaps about our culture, I’m happy they can also practice it with me.
do you mind if i ask where you are for this vid?
Brother I tell everyone this. I walk every beach and creek system to find and see new locations. Some days turns out to be nothing other days you may find decent spots.
@@CampMisguided i was curious on town not exact spot and yeah i like to look for good secret fishing holes gets me off my game for a few hours
@@kingrangasempireaaaah got you sorry mate. I literally walk for hours to have people ask where is this spot only to have them fishing these locations when ya done the hard part for them. No worries mate I am around the Mackay region.
@@CampMisguided sorry i should have asked in a better way nice that explains the low tide mark thats where i am as well i just didn't want to pry into your privacy too much i follow a few locals but i've never done that style of crabbing
@@kingrangasempireit’s good because it’s like you have to work for your rather than chuck multiple pots.
Just be careful Cus, if it's the area I think it is, that is a noted crocodile spot.
Yeah cus. I was a bit sketchy and not having reception or nobody knew I was there. I don’t usually make these decisions but I did make it after waiting a while and throwing sticks around earlier but ya still never know aye.
Awsome EP brother
Thanks brother. Wasn’t sure what was going to happen but it turned into a good ol day.
Another thing is that you took a Jenny, whether it was dead, soft shell or whatever. It's just wrong to take them. Good to see you FNP teaching your kids how to do everything improperly. Smh
Before I was informed about the law. I was doing this to survive with my father and grandfather. I don’t see nothing wrong with cultural practices. We don’t have a boat or money to buy them from the shops. We have reached out to TO’s to let them know we practise culture to pass onto the next generation. We do lots more to help them flourish in our system like throw small ones back, we feed and bait holes with left over scraps and clean the rubbish as we walk these systems.
Definitely shouldn't be hooking crabs let alone putting it as the title of your video. In QLD you cannot hook a crab from a hole, so they can only use pots. In WA they can't use pots, so they have to hook. QLD crabs get hammered but we can catch the bag limit in one pot. WA crabs hardly get touched (in comparison) but each one should be hooked. Stop being a wanker and follow the rules. Put out a crab pot and wait, don't be a fucken idiot.
Awesome brother, gathering Kai(food) for the Whanau(family)
That’s it brother. Not all days are like this but was happy with the result on this day.

Beautiful spot. Cant wait to go back.
@@CampMisguided , I drive past the walking track every day on my way to work.
@@ScottAstbury-v3loh no way! What a spot mate to live. Do you go fishing there often.
@CampMisguided , not often enough, mostly fish out of a 4.5m centre console chasing trout, nannies, lipper and mackerel.
@@ScottAstbury-v3lhahaha not as much as we would like aye. Oh nice! Would keep ya feezer full
