    Hey guys! In today’s Nameless episode I wanted to talk about following our intuition while art journaling.
    This basically means learning to trust and follow through with our impulses while creating; putting them ahead of critical judgement.
    Whilst being intuitive you will still obviously think about, and be mindful of what you are doing, and how you are doing it, but you are able to put your critiques aside to see where it takes you without worry, pressure or expectation.
    This is something that can take some practice, but is really fulfilling because it takes you back to the joy of the process itself, and welcomes the surprise and mysteries that can occur while making art and following your impulse without knowing where it is going to take you.
    I wanted to talk about this first to hopefully ease any anxieties or overthinking during this project; because it’s really easy to get stuck on composition and perfectionism while making anything!
    But by trusting and welcoming intuitive, impulsive ideas and feelings we invite a more joyful process and open ourselves up to more unique, spontaneous outcomes.

    When I was young (between 10 and 20 years) I used to junk journal and sketch a lot but the following years, due to life's difficulties, I forgot all about it. I did this without even knowing that there was a term for it. Seeing this video reminded me how therapeutic this process is and that I really did use my intuition, I did not think, I did not plan, I did not test.... it was as if my hands had a life of their own. Thank you so much for reminding me how calm it made me feel.......I just hope life lets me feel that way again. Be well.

    Johanna, I just wanted to let you know that I am loving this tutorial and am working along with you each week. My journal isn't nameless though. After making the cover I discovered a box of old photos of my husbands family. I asked him if I could have them for journaling and am now using your journal to make a surprise birthday gift for him using your tutorial each week. Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial.

      I am also using family photos but they are photos of my grandparents, great aunts & uncles, and my parents with friends or extended family members I never knew. In that sense they are sort of nameless. I wanted to share these so my grandchildren would have a sense of history within the family. Loads of photos of my great-uncles with their buddies during WWII.

    You're explanation was so helpful, I feel that I do this in my art journaling but then doubt it all when others feel they need to be an art critic, I journal to make me happy and never profess to being an 'artist'. Thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed this youtube.

    Beautiful and inspiring as always Johanna, thankyou. It’s been so good for me to follow this unique series because for as long as I can remember I’ve been an over thinker. My husband found a tin of photos at a market recently which would be perfect for the ‘Nameless’ project so I truly hope to try it in the future. I struggle with getting past the feeling of wondering why family pictures were given away in the first place and of wanting to find the original owners of discarded treasures just in case they were thrown out by accident. A near impossible task of course. It’s wonderful to see you using these historical gems that otherwise would have ended up in landfill. Instead they found their way into the best and most creative of hands and warmest of hearts ♥️

    Could you do A video where you show how you organize you crafts? I really struggle to keep every clip-offs and paper in general somewhat tidy and organized 💫

      Hope you don't mind if I answer too :) She has a few videos of craft room tours which show her storage if you want to check them out. I have folders for pics of different subjects eg people, animals, floral, etc. I have a box for scraps, containers for ephemera, ribbons, sewing, cards, drawers for paper, maps, music, etc, and then the stuff I use most - tools - close to hand. Hope this helps just a bit. Nothing fancy :)

    Hey Johanna, love this journaling series and have been following, it's coming along well! I do have feedback concerning the audio, please could you make it louder/ project more, it is a bit difficult to hear the vids at times. Great video tho 👍

    • @JohannaClough
      @JohannaClough  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry Mich, some of these videos are pre-recorded so I can only try to enhance the audio during editing (which I will do my best next time!) and in future will keep a note of that. Sometimes I do voiceovers with a sleeping baby near by so I think that may be why my voice is so low 😅♥️

    I'm so jelous that you can just DO things whitout thinking and it turns out so good! for me I'm just overthinking and thinks like what if this gets ulgy? Why if I do something wrong? And so on!
    :/ So I'm too scarred to try bc I don't want to do something ugly !

    • @kirschblute8800
      @kirschblute8800 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's ugly you can throw it away and retry. But in my opinion it's impossible to make something ugly... Remember when you started writing. It's a process, the most of us start with "ugly" art things.. :)
      Try it! Believe in you! And if it helps you, don't show it to anyone.
      Try! :)

    • @riteasrain
      @riteasrain 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's ugly you can always put something else on top that you like or gesso to fade the background and start again on top. And honestly the more you do it the easier it gets I've found :)

    • @JohannaClough
      @JohannaClough  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Floraviolin just keep adding layers until you like it! And who cares if it’s ugly, it’s practice toward your next one 💕
