I love how genuine this journey has been. Really refreshing to watch a group of friends tackle on a project of this magnitude without so much obvious production and commercials. Keep up the great work and thanks for inviting us along. Subscribed.
Considering how TRASHED the truck was, you guys should give those front body mounts around the radiator a real good look. They're known to crack a lot with heavy abuse off-road, which this truck has definitely seen.
The setting for all this is amazing in you’re own garage doing you’re own work and showing all of it in 1 video shorter than 20 mins. I’m glad I found this series
Just found your channel, love the videos and the content! Tacos are great trucks and this is a good story on fixing one up, especially because newer trucks being messed up like this are uncommon
Love these small Channels, it’s genuine people that are learning as they go . Working in a small garage with minimal tools and still get things done !!
Bought a 19’ with a bad engine last week, found your videos yesterday and thankful to see someone that actually shows doing an engine, any tips or things you missed before taking out?
Love the work you did on that Taco. I relate to your $ calculation at the end, and how you left cost of labor out. That's how I know you enjoyed doing that work, you'd do it for free.
These Tacoma videos are great. Crazy that someone went through all the work to make that truck what it was just to turn it into a cat shit box. Thanks for recording these and putting them up! Very entertaining.
Nice job you guys. I have a 2017 Tacoma with 53,000 miles on it, it's a great truck. Mine is stock with 265/75/r15's on it and it made it to the Maze district in Canyonlands NP and back no problem at all! I might put a 2 or 3 inch lift on it at some point. I put a shell on mine and built a sweet drawer system on it. I was thinking about making a TH-cam video on the drawer system but haven't gotten around to it yet.
This whole video is genuine down to earth. Blue collar and 🇺🇸 American. I'm all for it. I could see my self working in your garage and that's the type of content I like the most. Great job guys
Seriously!!! A lot of money was put into this truck for it to just be destroyed by the previous owner. One good thing is if you decide to wheel it you won’t have to worry about trail damage.
The oil change interval reset is easy. ODO to Trip A. Turn off truck. Hold down ODO reset button, turn to KOEO or push the start button twice, whichever applies. Hold down the ODO button until the flashing lines disappear. Done.
I’m impressed. Keep doing these videos. Or More videos on the truck. You and your team did it so quick and easy. Y’all brought the truck back to life. Congrats guys! Cheers!! Great job!
I used to own a 2020 Tacoma, don't worry about the Charging System Warning. It is a generic warning that pops up if the truck is "On" but the engine isn't running. Basically letting you know that the battery will drain over time. Good job fixing it up!
Wish I had half the knowledge and ability. Glad to find the channel. Had my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee for over 10 years. It needs a lot of work. So looking at a Tacoma or 4Runner replacement. Always good seeing the inside rather than just the exterior.
I love WJs! Just sold a 2002 Limited 4.7L HO with quadratrac. Mine had a 3” lift and some 32s. They’re awesome vehicles and wouldn’t hesitate buying one again.
Very cool project and videos. I bought a little 01 Tacoma a couple years back that I thought took the award for the nastiest interior and bed, but this one may have had it beat when you bought it. Thankfully mine had a decent engine. I probably wouldn't be able to do all the work you're doing.
Digging the videos, love how you don’t milk stuff out for extra vids. One thing I’d recommend for the interior is an ozone machine, best way to get rid of lingering smells. Curious on how well the body will clean up with some buffing
Glad you go it in and running. After hooking up all fluid lines the Brake fluid and Power Steering Fluid will have to have all air purged out. Power steering just leave the cap off and turn the wheel full spins back and fourth with the system off around 20 cycles, add fluid as necessary (front end on jacks). Brake bleeding is always the same as every car.
I really enjoy watching this truck come together. Not sure why. lol Your very confident with the way you approach each task. It's an awesome gift I wish I had. 👍👍
Great video series on this neglected rebuild you got going! That is a crazy price for a used engine though - would have guessed $1,500 but guess thats the Tacoma parts market...
I just found your channel, I've subscribed. Please, keep these coming, you're crushing it! I really enjoyed these 3 Tacoma uploads, I cannot wait to see more.
So envious of this kind of project, wish I had the resources and knowledge. Great videos, it's cool watching you guys work. Thanks for sharing this journey.
Mike I'd say give magnuson a call to see if you need an ECU tune to properly run that supercharger, don't want you to damage anything on that fresh engine keep up the good work
Nice work! You made headlines on the TacomaWorld forum so there a bunch of guys following this project over there. Can't wait to see the rest of the small remaining items getting taken care of and you taking this thing for a spin. Love following these types of projects by us home garage mechanics. Thanks for documenting this and sharing.
Randomly found the channel. Watched all three videos with morning coffee. I got a 21 trd off road and I’m mad impressed. I have 0 mechanical experience. Hope you post more videos dude
I'm extremely impressed with your work and envious of your skills at your age. My toyota just died and it's a hybrid. I won't be trying to do anything your doing lol.
Those kryptonite tie rods are no joke. I have a lifted Silverado and have kryptonite upper control arms and tie rods. They beef up my front end for the 37’s I’m running🤣
Absolutely, I’ve been in touch with magnuson to get a baseline tune from them. I have the VF tuner just want to make sure it’s all good before putting miles on it.
@@mikes4x4garage That is good to hear. As a technician I can say y'all did a good job on the install and I was impressed how quick it was up and running.
Awesome recovery. You are going to be surprised as to how expensive a new windshield will be. It was $1400 for a crappy aftermarket windshield on my 19'. They have to calibrate the camera.
Honestly super impressed with how fast you did all that work. I know this truck still has alot of work but this will be a sweet truck
That's a slap in the face when a Ford Ranger is picking up a replacement Tacoma engine.
Bro, this is crazy! This is soo sick especially cause you’re doing the work yourself! This is awesome! Keep the videos coming!
I love how genuine this journey has been. Really refreshing to watch a group of friends tackle on a project of this magnitude without so much obvious production and commercials. Keep up the great work and thanks for inviting us along.

Dude its insane how much you know and how confident you are, really love how its coming out. Your knowledge is seriously something else
Thank you!

Congrats 👍👍👍👍glad you got it running, I'm a taco owner myself 2nd gen 2011...love your content 🤟🤟🤟🤟
Just need to mention that the fact that you were playing “The Chats” on the speaker made the channel so much better
When that engine turned and purred man it sounded amazing
Smoko by the Chats in the background is mint.. Aussie represent
The machining of the flywheel is impressive!!!

Love the non stop beer drinking in these vids.
I admire the hard work you do. May God put you on the right path
Dang I thought that the truck would've fought you some more with that new engine install. I'm glad that it went pretty well!
Good work, just a bunch of men having a good time.
That sweet sweet sound afterwards!!
1:50 lol it's like a mix of panic but calmness in his voice. subbed, i'm liking this series
Lol. Your buddy Matt Damon from Wish cracks me up every time😆
6:10 Two guys just fixing an engine with Led Zeppelin playing in the garage.
That sounds like a damn good time
Sadly After 3 Back Surgeries My Wrenching Days Are Over ! I'll Just Watch You ! Rob
Love the work you did on that Taco. I relate to your $ calculation at the end, and how you left cost of labor out. That's how I know you enjoyed doing that work, you'd do it for free.
That kid in he blue hoodie had me dying when the engine was spinning 😂
Honestly really enjoy watching. Y’all are entertaining and very quick!
These Tacoma videos are great. Crazy that someone went through all the work to make that truck what it was just to turn it into a cat shit box. Thanks for recording these and putting them up! Very entertaining.
What a great crew you’ve got. Ahhhh to be young again.
They’re a bunch of great friends.
Good deals, good work with good friends...good times1
Saving yourself a solid 15-20k and got to build it yourself and get familiar. Awesome!
"Im not sure if thats what its supposed to do. Its fuckin spinning bro." Lol love this series. The cleaning vid alone was worth it. Keep after it!
Thank you!
Youre a pioneer man. We are all watching and learning from you!
mike seems to cheer up over the course of the video
The motor spinning on the hoist had me rolling

The Taco is purring like a walrus. lol but great work restoring it back to its formal glory.
Looking forward to the rest of this series! Also would be interested in the story behind this truck if you have it
Same! I’m dying to know lol.
Seriously!!! A lot of money was put into this truck for it to just be destroyed by the previous owner. One good thing is if you decide to wheel it you won’t have to worry about trail damage.
I’d bet that it was some spoiled brat that bought it with daddys money, daddy probably bought them a new 2022 by now
Drugs have to be involved
"found this little crack" *welds it together* hahahahahaa made me laugh KEEP IT UP BRO!!
Good job guys,keep it up!!!.
Cheers from Lake Elsinore CA.
1:53 His reaction is so good.
Mike, You are now the tacoma boss 🥇 👑

I’m impressed. Keep doing these videos. Or
More videos on the truck. You and your team did it so quick and easy. Y’all brought the truck back to life. Congrats guys! Cheers!! Great job!
This is refreshing to see. I didnt think that they made 20 year olds like this anymore. Especially in california.
I used to own a 2020 Tacoma, don't worry about the Charging System Warning. It is a generic warning that pops up if the truck is "On" but the engine isn't running. Basically letting you know that the battery will drain over time. Good job fixing it up!
Good point, it slipped my mind at the time! Thanks!
Dang bruh that flywheel looks MINT!
They did a great job!
Smoko was sick, also amped on how easy that dropped in, stoked for more videos!
Glad you got that running !
I do all my hazmat crimes at dusk haha same here bro

Will do 👍🏻
Would love a break down of what failed in the motor! Great series Mike

Yup 👍🏻, brake lines didn’t have to be disconnected though
You need to post more, I'm so interested into these vids. Keep it up👌
I feel like you got a good deal, that super Charger and the lift and locker, can’t wait to see what’s next
drop the playlist!
It’s incredible how this man managed to break almost every component on his truck within 3 years
You are doing a great job , congrats, I’m still working on my 93 Toyota pickup it has been a long project , Toyotas are great trucks
I really enjoy watching this truck come together. Not sure why. lol Your very confident with the way you approach each task. It's an awesome gift I wish I had. 👍👍

I am new here, and I am excited for the tacoma build. I have a 5th Gen 4runner that’s getting built out.
I'm extremely impressed with your work and envious of your skills at your age. My toyota just died and it's a hybrid. I won't be trying to do anything your doing lol.

Love this series so far. Want one of these trucks more than anything, cool to see such a cool truck getting a second chance.
NIce, happy for you guys. Found my self cheering when yall got the engine to start up.
that ranger will outlive us all
Looking forward for the progress of the truck
This is going to be a sweet ride when you guys are through with it. Very inspiring to see how far the trucks already came!
Bro your in it less than 20k hard work pays off 💪
man i loved how you had Smoko on in the background at one point!
Stoked you’ve got the New motor in, hoping everything gets squared away soon and ready to ride in style
I would most definitely make sure that it actually has a Magnusson tune in the PCM and that someone didn't just slap the blower on it and let it rip.
@@mikes4x4garage yeah vf tuner. I also have it . I'm running kdmax Pro with premium fuel. It rips for being N/A
That’s always a good feeling getting something back up and running 👍
Awesome recovery. You are going to be surprised as to how expensive a new windshield will be. It was $1400 for a crappy aftermarket windshield on my 19'. They have to calibrate the camera.
Well done dudes, well freaking done!
Sick! I got a 01 tacoma that I work on so I love watching this. Keep up the good
Work’
finally a coastie with a youtube channel that doesnt suck! great content brother
