As soon as I saw this, I immediately thought "hey, that looks like an Imperial Probe Droid from Star Wars". Very cool.

Came across your site and was instantly grabbed by the subject. I loved building MaK kits back in the 80's. And for the same reasons you like them. Subscribed!

Love the leg swap!! I think they make a whole lot more sense that way and certainly look more like a "traditional" (is that the right word for SciFi? 😂) Walker style robot. But I wonder - given that Kröte seems to be German for Toad - the drawing almost looks like it could get around by hopping! haha wouldn't that be terrifyingly surreal to see on a battlefield... Take care! Happy to have found your channel, subscribing now. Your concepts about how SciFi subjects can allow for way more freedom makes a lot of sense

Will, to my way of thinking, you just corrected the mechanics of the legs. Nice beblooptamachinamann! As an old retired Texan, I understand your attitude; "Fun Uber Alles!"

Totally agree with the direction of the legs. Also let's not forget that in the end of the day it's just a heap of plastics and you can either treat it like a near perfect historical representation - or you can treat it as your canvas! Ok, I usually go for the "as perfect as I can muster" option but every now and then I go for the blank canvas option and honestly, that's when I do my best stuff.
I've been waiting to attempt my first Ma.K. myself and do a project where I can merry my love for scale modelling with my other hobby of electronics and (hopefully) make it come to life a bit?!
I appreciate your always valuable input and your path to perfection! I've learned more tricks watching your videos than anyone else's so a huge thanks for sharing and me hopefully making less mistakes learning from your experience! (just your past input on de-tacking masking tape has saved me more than once...)
Greetings from a cold and #&¤% miserable Sweden.

Cool model Will and liking the modifications, thanks for sharing! They are great kits and it is fun to identify all the different model parts originally used on the original models. As a side note, Nitto was the original producer of the kits under it's original series name of S.F.3.D.

Hello Will, I've been watching your videos for some time now. I love the models of "Maschinen Krieger", do not worry Germans do not wear brown uniforms anymore, at least not on weekdays. : D I hope you still show a video how to paint the "Kröte". I wish you a nice week, many greetings from Germany.

I always wanted one of those Maschinen Kriegers. BTW that white spot on the turn table looks like it took a poop/ bird poop. LOL LMAO I like the legs the way you did them..more balanced looking. Waiting for Pt 2.

and as far as the engineering foot placements concerns, is you would have some sort of spring raise for the front toes to lift when the legs lift up and move forward.

I like the legs facing this way better... but man... it's still a mess, those plates at front would get in the way.

Love this kit and what you have done with it Will. Could you please post a link to where you purchased it along with the resin bolts. Could use these bolts on a few other projects I have. Cheers mate.

How do you paint this?...ie do you take it all apart now and paint bit by bit?? Do you tape up the light, filter and silver tubes and spray away?? I always wonder how guys do it when they do a full assembly prior to paint. Leg swap looks much more mechanically sound to me.

most of it comes apart. i used a magnet on one bit....but, the big cylinder shafts will just need masking.
