11:13 This is accurate; source form "The Great War" series featuring Indy Neidell and James Patton from Kansas University Medical. French first used Tear Gas August 1914. The difference at this point was scope, since Germans used it less haphazardly in a coordinated and deliberate assault plan. Also the British attempted to use Chlorine as well at the Battle of Loos; however, the shifting wind caused serious friendly fire.

I'm glad I played EU4 as Croatia. Thanks to that I knew what you meant when you said "Krf". I always find it funny how southern Slavic languages seem to have an aversion to vowels :D
As for the video itself, one thing that was on my mind when watching this was: "Yes, those are horrific numbers of casualties but it's only gonna get worse from there."

Let's not forget that most of Italian operations were made with Luigi Cadorna in command. Also if I remember correctly Winston Churchill was the "mastermind" behind Gallipoli

He also got blamed for the naval defeat off the coast of Chile, which was actually in the first video. On paper, the fleet there looked capable of dealing with the German Pacific Fleet, but in reality, the captain has been telling Churchill that a lot of the ships that looked good on paper were rubbish. Churchill ignored him ordered him to aggressively go after the Germans, and the Brits all sunk. lol

Battle of Cer is notable for being the first Allied victory over the Central powers in WW1.

On April 8, 1915, about two weeks before the German's lethal gas attack, the French launched tear gas across the trenches.
The Germans were the first to use chemical weapons in the war [January 31, 1915 vs. the Russians].
The French were the first to use chemical weapons on the Western Front, *however* the Germans would be the first to use lethal chemical weapons on the Western Front.

1:45 Regarding that, I highly recommand you read specifically about how tactical doctrines evolved during that period, because it's a false assumption to imagine that just because most generals (early during WW1) had an offensive mindset, would mean that they didn't predict how lethal fire was in the early 20th century. Come on, let's not take people from the past for total idiots, some spent their entire lives thinking about how to fight as effectively as possible with the current technology of the age. Most armies actually had pretty defensive doctrines before 1905, so that change toward offense was recent, probably because of the failures of the Russo-Japanese war (which they observed). I don't know the details to be honest, but I know they certainly were aware of how firepower dramatically evolved. It's not that simple, they weren't thinking as if it was 1850, they just thought they could do better.

The first nation to use chemical weapons in World War one was France in 1914 but they used tear gas which is nonlethal. Germany was the first nation to use lethal chemical weapons attacks with chlorine in 1915.

What was so valuable in Baghdad at the time? This being before oil. Ok googled it, wanted to establish a port on the Persian gulf. Basically a way to India. German Christoper Columbus move.

I'd not known a lot about WWI but those numbers are just shocking & heartbreaking. I had no idea it was this horrific. It's no wonder men came back from WWI and were mentally messed up. Terrific series dude

While I can't be 100% certain, I believe the US had reasons to stay out of WW1.
    1) We had a lot of issues with Mexico during this time. The US/Mexican border was practically a warzone already.
    2) Immigration in the US. The US had very few regulations for immigrants entering the country and millions came over from Europe and Asia. I can't find specific numbers but I found on the Library of Congress website that in the 1800s nearly 1/3 of all immigrants were Irish, and made up roughly 7% of the total US population around the 1860s. The next largest group was the Germans with an estimated 5 million German immigrants by the late 1800s. After the US Civil-War, immigration experienced a shift and most of our immigrants came from Italy, Poland, and Russia (and other parts of Eastern Europe). Between 1900 and 1915 around 15 million people immigrated to the US and about 3/4 of New Yorks's population was either new immigrants or first-generation Americans.
In my opinion, America wasn't in a position to point at a country and call it an enemy because so many American's came from countries fighting on both sides.

Yeah the French used tear gas I think but not poison gas before the Germans? Also during the 2nd battle of Ypres I think it was French colonial troops from west Africa who were the first to be hit by the Germans Chlorine gas.
