Well the SP7 M3 version which should be comparable to the i3 is $599 at BB right now. But the i3 went up to $699. I lucky I ordered mine the day they were both $599. I believe it’s the same minus different processors i3 vs M3 chip

I 2nd this. Most reviews are of units sent by MS, and of course MS wants to guarantee a good review so send at least the i5. And I hope you do a little more to show how the i3 actually performs - for things like photoshop, video editing, etc. I think we all know gaming will be minimal with it. BTW, I'm typing this from my old Surface Pro 3, which for most things is still quite good. Just time to give it as a hand me down to the kid. ;-)

Looking at the built in stand on the surface pro 7 it's what Samsung should have done on the tab s6 instead of the separate one that comes with the keyboard case
Dude, thanks to you, I ended up grabbing me one of these. Unfortunately, I was not able to get it at $599... I am still happy and have no regrets so far though. And I'm coming from an iPad Air 3 too!
As of December 7th it's $599 again at Best Buy and the Microsoft store with a free black type cover. For that price it's totally worth getting. Yeah it's not a powerhouse but it's still plenty fast for anything that's not gaming or heavy video editing. Definitely a better buy than the Galaxy Tab S6 or iPad Pro if you can get it for $599.
good video. A couple years ago I switched from iPad to surface pro five and then back to apple. Surface is still good as well, but I like the apps on iPad better

Great review! I just purchased what seems to be a lemon i5 8gig 128 Surface Pro 7 & I was thinking of getting the surface pro x. Now I'm thinking of just trading for another Surface Pro 7 to see how well it does. The one I have has an odd screen. It looks blurry, has poor contrast, causes eye strain & the task bar on Word is so blurry that some of the icons can't be identified. I noticed that your i3 looked fine in Word. So I have high hopes for a good one when I exchange. Is there a screen protector & a bumper set up that you recommend? Do you like it better than the iPad pro 12.9?
Do you have the Windows "Display Scaling" setting in the Display Settings menu set to anything but 200%? Because that'll mess up how everything looks if you've changed the scaling factor to something else.

The surface pro is not meant to be seen as a traditional laptop computer but more as a tablet that can run windows programs with a hybrid solution of using it as a laptop. Triggered more for light work such as , offline & online media watching, writing , planing , note taking , or Concept creative work. Its a high end productivity tool.

For that I would recommend the i5! The i3 version only has 4 GB of RAM, and with video editing that may slow it down. Having 8gB is definitely better for your editing and multitasking ❤️

Get the SP7 (i5, 8 ram, and 128 ssd). Cheaper, better battery life, and no fan noise. Costco, Best Buy, and Amazon have bundle deals (SP7, keyboard) for $799 about every other month. Use your savings to get the pen and MicroSD card.

This is why pre-8 Surface Pro's were only ever "platinum" or "black"), Microsoft decided to switch away from their super unique magnesium construction they'd been using since the very first Surface RT to the same exact anodized aluminum that everyone else uses with the latest Surface Pro 8 so they could offer a bunch of different color options.... (This is also why the 8 is heavier than the 7+ & earlier. Aluminum is notably heavier than magnesium).
Damn in germany its 800 euros and was 720 on sale without typecover or pen. The surface go costs 570at the worst config with typecover and pencil. Thats why i bought the i5 for 800 plus 170 for typecover and pen

im thinking about buying one of these. I use a lenovo ideapad i5 8th gen with 8gb ram. My question is, since my notebook is plain garbage, can this surface really work with 4gb ram? I only use to read pdfs, browse and whatever, no gaming or editing but still 4gb gives me the chills (but so does the 200$ more for the i5 8gb surface pro 7)
just sold my ipad pro 10.5 for £600 with the pencil and bought the surface 7 pro i5 8gb for £730 with the keyboard cover .... loved my ipad pro but didnt love the lightning port and sometimes miss them full o/s apps and i couldnt afford a macbook pro 16" and didnt want to spend over 1k on a macbook pro 13 with dodgy keyboard ... microsoft won ... loving it so far as well ;-)

I couldn't do 4GB of RAM in 2020. I have the i5 SP 6. The SP 6.wiol work with the SP 4 type cover. I have the Ciscle brand pen that was cheaper. I did a video on that pen.
Thank you for doing this video, I am an Engineer and Photographer on a budget I really want to buy this but I'm hesitant if the i3 core processor will it be able to run video and photo editing programs. I know AutoCAD is a stretch so I wont even ask but what do you think about running heavy programs on this model?
Hey Noah I'm a web dev (mostly back end) and android dev and recently I've been looking for replacements for my MacBook pro and my company gave me the pixel book go and man. It's been really really really nice. Having Linux available and all of chrome and Google syncing has been a HUGE plus. Typically when I'm not at my desk I just plug my s10 in to a work station and use DeX but the pixel book is surprisingly really really really nice.
@@NoahHerman no problem man! Also saw one video of a guy using the "Bluetooth controller button mapping" apps to map keys to certain android games and it really makes a difference. Also the touch screen make a big difference. If this were a 360 one it would really be cool to game on and maybe take notes...but it's still pretty nice.
Yes! I got lucky enough to buy mine at the 599 price point and it is an amazing machine. Netflix, Crunchy Roll, Movies, Office work, and Tidal, with some E-Reading and it is a solid machine. Worth every penny if you are a student.
Depends on whether you want more of a laptop or a tablet. Also look at what apps you want to be using for note taking. If one note, go for surface. If you want notability and good notes, ipad.

The i3 version is dumb. Just don't. It's not anywhere near being similarly spec'd with the iPad Pro. But it's not really meant to compete with that. To get the best surface, at least get the bottom tier i5, because you cannot do anything with the i3. But you can play some AAA game titles even on the i7. I wanted the ability to run full photoshop and illustrator in tablet form, and THATS what the surface is all about.

@@NoahHerman no problem man! Also saw one video of a guy using the "Bluetooth controller button mapping" apps to map keys to certain android games and it really makes a difference. Also the touch screen make a big difference. If this were a 360 one it would really be cool to game on and maybe take notes...but it's still pretty nice.
Is i3 10th gen with 4gb of ram enough for daily work (excel, outlook, word, 2 - 3 tabs of edge or chrome opened at the same time)?
Yes! I got lucky enough to buy mine at the 599 price point and it is an amazing machine. Netflix, Crunchy Roll, Movies, Office work, and Tidal, with some E-Reading and it is a solid machine. Worth every penny if you are a student.

The Surface Pro X is of course thinner because it has a arm chip and not an x86 based cpu instead it is a modified mobile cpu

Depends on whether you want more of a laptop or a tablet. Also look at what apps you want to be using for note taking. If one note, go for surface. If you want notability and good notes, ipad.

That matte metal is Magnesium. Lighter and more durable than Aluminum. Guess so.
The i3 version is dumb. Just don't. It's not anywhere near being similarly spec'd with the iPad Pro. But it's not really meant to compete with that. To get the best surface, at least get the bottom tier i5, because you cannot do anything with the i3. But you can play some AAA game titles even on the i7. I wanted the ability to run full photoshop and illustrator in tablet form, and THATS what the surface is all about.
I feel bad for all of the i5 surface pro 6 users for getting the i3 surface pro 7
