What about oral exam? Teeth? MM color? CRT? Did you forget that part? Do you do at the end or beginning of your nose to tail exam?

Thank you for pronouncing veterinary correctly!! I have to seriously wonder about Veterinary professionals that don’t even know how to pronounce their own profession.🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤣🤣I truly want to feel that my dog’s doctor is the same as my doctor. However so many of the vets I’ve encountered have reminded me that hillbilly medicine still prevails and modern high quality medicine is still difficult to find.

You sound like the kind of client that is banned in 10 clinics in one state.

As just some guy that loves his dog, I thank you. We've seen a few Vets and Tech's over the years and I always felt the listen and palpate was a little rushed.
-How does one go about addressing an issue, as such, without offending?

it can likely be to do with consult time constraints, if the consults are scheduled to only be 10 mins long it is v difficult to listen for 2-3 mins to fit everything in and not cause a chain reaction of late appointments later in the day, 15mins or even 20 mins is a nice sweet spot. You may be able to request an extended appointment if you would like a more thorough health check on your pup :)

Would love suggestions on how to learn lungs sounds that are normal versus abnormal? Are they similar to how people lungs sounds are? I have two senior dogs and even though we have a good vet am curious as to what wet lungs sound like in dogs.

    Great Content!
I possess a 4 year German certification for large animal; horseshoeing and have a Vet. Assistant certificate from Upstate New York for small animal and an A.K.C Groomers certificate. Will that be considered for alternative pathway and I can just study, pay and take the vet. tech exam or do I need to take an 18 month course like through Pima medical institute? I have had the German certification license evaluated by the International Education Evaluators and this cost me $330 to have it translated and acknowledged. Should have a hard copy of it by October 10, 2021
Do you know the best contact to reach out to? To get that answered? Please and Thank You's!!!!

Amy is an amazing technician, however I would like to comment on a few things. I am NOT a fan of working on the floor unless the animal is over 75 pounds or so. First of all lifting that heavy of an animal can be dangerous for both animal and handler so floor work is better indicated. Secondly, in that situation it is imperative that there be a restrainer for the animal. On the floor, the dogs definitely have an advantage with traction and can easily get away or turn on the examiner if not restrained.
Working on the floor puts a lot more stress on our bodies (knees, backs, etc) and threatens the long term health of technicians.
I agree with the comments about no eye, ear or head exam. Just forgotten due to nerves about being filmed?
Finally, most technicians are not taught what to palpate for with abdominal palpation, so stating to just go ahead and give a feel is potentially dangerous for the animal and the examiner.
