This was amazing! So much of it resonates, particularly the part about control. I'm 45 and my body is changing with perimenopause and so often I feel out of sync and out of control. Painting has brought that back (most of the time lol) and I'm so thankful for it 😊
Right??? I love the complete control of how you can direct, influence and manipulate your art. The end result may not always be in control (esp watercolour), but at least your direction and influence is 100% yours! Im heading that way too soon... 2 years to 45. EEK!

Thank you for sharing this. I can relate. As a musician, the act of playing for a live audience is so ephemeral. (And a recording is so manufactured, it never actually happened in real life!) I love that a painting is something concrete , a creation you can hold on to, for a short or long time, look at again a few weeks or years later, decide what to do do with it, toss it if you want, rework it, give it away….. it can have a life beyond the moment of creation. So satisfying! I love having found your channel, your videos are terrific. Thank you!
omg yes! making music! I too LOVE playing music. I am in an african drumming group in my community and I love jamming and there's nothing like MUSIC that can alter a state of mind in an instant. But like you say, its ephemeral. And maybe thats the beauty of it. And painting has that element of tangibility that satisfy the human need for holding onto something.
I’m so happy I got recommended your channel. You are such a wonderful artist and I connect so much with what you said in this video. I started painting almost eight years ago after I had my youngest child. As a mother we wear so many hats, but when I’m painting it grounds me to my personal sense of self while also creating something tangible to remind me of that identity ❤

I found your channel a few weeks ago when searching for flower tutorials bec I’m teaching myself to paint with watercolors. I have to say I have a few favorite watercolor you tubers (Jenna and Emma) and you’re honestly to me right up there with them. You have a beautiful aura and seem genuine and your videos are amazing!

In reference to devotion, what I noticed is a deeper feeling of intimacy with the things I paint...like I am more alive after I paint the magnolia because I 'know' the magnolia more intimately. Painting has deepened my connection to life. Also, I am looking forward to listening to The Emerald and I love your channel!
