Thank you for these marvelous pictures. I hope the people here know how wonderful Arizona is ! ! !
Watching your videos, I can see this open range and the endless sight, where ever you are. In Germany all is tiny and narrow, and your eyes get tired.
    Greetings from Germany 🙋‍♀️

Sun City has changed since I worked at Boswell Hospital. Golf carts with air-conditioned enclosed seats were street legal! The residents supported several softball teams for young adults to the youngest Cherubs Boswell was the best-equipped hospital I ever worked at. Such good memories I have of working there. I lived in Peoria and would stop at roadside farmer's stands. Such good vegetables. They were harvested daily and those that didn't sell were shipped back East.

I am 61 & live in Sun City West AZ. Make sure you love the sun & absolutely no rain. I'm starting to get tired of the same thing every day. I miss the change of seasons, I am from Michigan. If you love bright sunny days & extremely hot summers then you will love it here. Good Luck.

Hi Jayne, thx for the tips!
I lived in PHX for 8 years for most of the 80's then moved back home to MN/ND...
It took me a year to learn to appreciate the desert. I also remember missing the seasons, minimal rain, and sick of the same sunny 😎and hot🥵 all the time.
I've also considered retiring in Virginia or the two Carolina's so I can get the 4 seasons but not the 50+ 🌨️🌨️ inches of snow every winter. Today in Fargo, it's about 25- 30 below with the wind chill🥶, and about the same weather for the rest of the week. Yesterday I was stranded because my car battery died from the cold, so just about anything sounds better right now! 😣

"I know it's confusing without a map..." Indeed it is. I've often wanted to comment that your channel would be more helpful and informative if you showed a map when you're referencing a particular area. The map was only up for a few seconds. So like a map at the beginning to illustrate what you're going to comment and it would be great if you show it again when you're moving from one area to the next. Other than that I love your channel and frequently binge-watch 👍🏻

These developments were built in succession. This gives you the types of homes built during that time. Sun City was established in 1960, Sun City West established in 1978, Sun City Grand established 1996 to 2000's. There is also an upscale development just north of Sun City West called Corte Bella established in 2003 with home prices from 300k and up. These are all 55+ communities with HOA's and some areas have a HOA within the HOA.

My girlfriend and I (from Maryland) have pretty much ruled out Arizona as a place to retire. It seems like every place we could have afforded has been discovered and is now out of our price range. We are flying to Phoenix in a week to visit (my 5th time) and relax. Is there any place any viewers could recommend that are still ''reasonable'? We were looking to spend about $1200 a month(total) for a nice apt. We know that is a long shot,..but,....any suggestions would be appreciated. If not we will just enjoy our trip and cross Arizona off our ''maybe ''list.

Area very quiet and well cared for. Their house purchased last year 3200 sq feet @290,00. Their are so many retirees there that they have a lot of power. Water and garbage are private and less than City costs. If there is talk of a rate increase they have all day to go to meetings and keep costs down. From what he tells me he loves this area.

I was so excited when this video popped up. I’ve owned my home in Surprise since 2010 and relocated here from Alexandria, VA in 2017. But it was all about Sun City. ☹️
Also Sun City and Sun City West are NOT cities at all. They are subdivisions located in Maricopa County. The founders did want to pay taxes to support a city infrastructure and did NOT want to pay taxes to build schools and other infrastructure project. Police protection is through the County Sheriffs Department. Sun City Grand was built last and chose to incorporate into the city of Surprise.
In the video close to 75% of Surprise was not included. We have have a lot to offer now but in the coming years. We are still growing and are currently around the 10th largest city in Arizona.
We are also the ONLY city/town in Arizona that was founded by a woman.

I lived in Sun City Grand and it was a pretty place however the social atmosphere was not positive. People were gossiping way too much and would spread all kinds of rumors. Everyone was curious how much money you had. Because it has a smaller population, most everyone knew each other or knew about them. I moved to Sun City which is older and not as fancy. Sun City is a much larger community and you could maintain some annonimity. People here are not in your face. Sun City offers much more for my tastes. I don’t miss Sun City one bit!

I’ve been in surprise most of my childhood. I feel like it’s not the greatest place to live. Nothing but empty promises. Our roads are always expanding and narrowing because they failed to keep up with the population growth, so they work to make larger roads, but then keep them too small. We have no good shopping districts and no good restaurants, just chains despite promises of malls and a nice downtown we just got a crappy university and 55+ communities. Our taxes are very high, despite the fact we have to head to nearby cities to do anything other than bowl.

I've been here 15 years. They promised us this great downtown even back then. Still, NOTHING. The first two buildings they allowed in this new "vibrant downtown" are a tire shop and an elderly apartment complex. It's getting ridiculous. And 99% of the new development is hamburger restaurants, nail salons, and storage facilities. This place was a clean slate, and they are ruining it.

Lived here for years and mostly grumpy, unfriendly people. Huge development's of poorly built homes. Older homes are nearly impossible to get repair parts. Inundated with contractors ready to take advantage of people. Many areas have torn down trees and removed grass. You can have several homeowners associations in a row with different landscaping that looks terrible. Poor drainage.

Sun City was NOT the first built. Youngtown was the first. With the first hospital in the West Valley. And the first to be built with the idea of not having children. Please, check your facts. Thank you.
